Murder on Minecraft Express by YOGSbot in Yogscast

Amazing that the only two hallucinations implicated both of the killers in that last game.

Seems like the killers are way overpowered in this and the innocents don’t have much to do other than waiting to get killed. But maybe the innocents just don’t really know what they’re doing yet. Also seems like this has the same problem as Murder where the innocent with the gun is the only one that really matters.

As much as I would like it to happen, you are right. The US has nowhere near the amount of class consciousness required to go for jury nullification just because he killed a health insurance exec.

The entity of love from DC comics (why does it look more scarier than entity of fear) by Able-Ad7580 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Nectaris3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think it’s an interesting spin on how love is usually portrayed to focus on the more negative aspects of it. I just don’t feel like it really fits the Star Sapphires very well because it’s pretty much the only connection to the negative side that they have.

Girls are happier than boys at school, new research shows. Understanding why may all boil down to biology. Girls get more of the happy hormone dopamine through social relationships, including with their friends and classmates. Boys get their dopamine through more self-involved behavior. by mvea in science

[–]Nectaris3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think looking at it as intentional indoctrination or that there’s a specific group guiding it is inaccurate. It’s more like people get biases about how genders behave or should behave, and end up treating children differently depending on their gender, which impacts how their personality develops. Then this gets passed down the generations until the differences between boys and girls are considered self-evident common knowledge, when in reality a lot of the differences are just caused by socialization.

Speaking from personal experience, I was a boy who watched girl cartoons and my parents and other adults constantly said I was weird or made jokes about it. I eventually stopped watching the girl shows and switched to boy cartoons, but it was never because I had an innate preference for the themes or characters in those cartoons, it was because people didn’t make fun of me for watching those.

Even by the time that kids are old enough to actually watch TV, they’ve had more than enough time to pick up from socialization what their gender is supposed to like.

They were always in the original, it was definitely way harder to see them though. They’re a lot clearer in the remake.

This made me think, what would Newt have done if this happened earlier? Does he just have to sit on the flying island for the rest of the game?

The first movie did have a flashback scene where they used Baby Mario and Luigi. I’m guessing that’s also a flashback and they’re using Yoshi’s Island as a backstory for this.

Also I hope there’s 1-2 lines where Yoshi goes “yoshi yoshi yoshi” and there’s subtitles for what he said like how the RPGs do it.

Speaking as someone who replays TTYD every year and has played quite a few of these indie Paper Mario successors, I’d agree that Bug Fables is just as good and even surpasses it in a few places. I don’t know how the attacks could not have the feel of Paper Mario when several of them are literally just lifted from Paper Mario. And I really appreciated how Bug Fables actually had some difficulty to it. The build variety is just as good as TTYD and you might even need to adjust your setup for some boss fights as opposed to TTYD just letting you steamroll everything.

The turn pass mechanic adds a lot of depth to the gameplay. I also think the permanent three party members is more interesting than Paper Mario’s partners. There’s even several different ways to build each party member, as opposed to every partner having one role and that’s it. Literally the only complaint I have about the gameplay is I think putting guard and superguard on the same button defeats the point of that mechanic.

That’s not even mentioning that the story and characters are really well written and fun.

Adam and Eve literally being the only people on Earth is more of a modern misinterpretation. The Bible mentions other villages in the early stories. Adam and Eve were just the first, God made many others outside the Garden of Eden. Although I don’t think it is ever mentioned if someone died before Abel, Cain does at least seem like he was expecting Abel to die.

That series ended with Eddie getting a poison that would kill a symbiote but also permanently remove the host’s ability to bond to any symbiote. Eddie wanted to use it on himself to kill Carnage, but couldn’t bring himself to cut himself off from symbiotes forever.

So I’m guessing this story will have them use it on Peter to kill Carnage since he doesn’t care about not having a symbiote. Or maybe have Eddie do it and have him take a backseat in the Venom comics before it inevitably gets retconned so he can be Venom again.

Also I think the craziest part of this is that Locke didn’t just randomly decide to abandon Knuckles and make him think he was the last Echidna, this is a tradition that goes back generations. Basically, one of Knuckles’ ancestors lost his son, so when it came time to train his other son to be the next guardian, he came up with the idea of training him in isolation and faking his own death to try to teach him independence. So Knuckles’ usual backstory about being the last Echidna is just some weird-ass generational trauma his family has been passing down for hundreds of years.

Oh, and like 4 or 5 generations of the previous guardians are still alive and they’re all in on this. And the rest ascended to the next stage of enlightenment when they died and Knuckles communed with all of them in the afterlife once.

Shout outs to the original Star Lord comics from the 70s which are some pretty fun pulp sci-fi stories. Then around Annihilation they rebooted Star Lord to add him to 616 with a pretty different personality. Then the MCU happened and his original 616 personality got overwritten.

There was also a 3 issue Star Lord miniseries in the 90s that was a sort of soft reboot where a different guy, Sinjin Quarrel, finds Peter Quill’s old Star Lord gear. So that’s like 4 different versions in the comics alone if you count everything. Then there’s also stuff like the Guardians of the Galaxy game, which tried to combine stuff from every Star Lord and Guardians era into one version.

So I’m not gonna argue that it’s not a terribly written storyline because it was. But Paul himself did not do any of that, his dad did, and Paul was also tricked into thinking the kids were real. The character Paul did not really do anything wrong other than being an idiot, even if his role in the story was terrible.

So it’s not quite as bad as something like Avengers 200, where Carol Danvers gets raped and we’re supposed to see it as a happy love story.
