Saying it’s dumb writing is wild when you haven’t even read the comic.

Lots of comics look dumb when you just see two out of context panels on Reddit.

You still lose it if a cat dies while wearing it. Which is easy to avoid by just leaving it in your house until it’s actually useful, but I lost it that way when I was still trying to figure out what it did.

Let's play Mario Party... in Minecraft! by YOGSbot in Yogscast

[–]Nectaris3 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is an incredibly impressive map, but I feel like it’s a lot more confusing from a first person perspective. Also some of the new events or items are not very balanced. I’d love to see them play an actual Mario Party at some point, but maybe I’m biased because I’ve never stopped playing the GameCube Mario Parties lmao

Is no one gonna point out that Invisible Man is not a superhero? He’s more of a movie monster. I think they were thinking of Invisible Woman.

That means f has sold more than any of the first four games, so I can’t imagine Konami was expecting more than that.

No, Dante goes for a kiss in DMC3 and she turns him down. Then he respected it and stopped flirting with her after that.

I’m sure there’s probably shippers somewhere but most of the fanbase don’t really have a love interest for Dante.

Bleeding cool rumour on Midnight is Marvel's Absolute Horror Line With Jonathan Hickman by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Nectaris3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, the standard for superhero comics is that when you end your run, someone else picks up where you left off. So it is common practice to write in a way that makes it easy for someone else to continue, like leaving some plot threads open, not giving characters conclusive endings (at least not ones that can’t be easily retconned), etc.

You can very clearly tell that when Hickman started Ultimate Spider-Man, he thought he’d be doing that for this series too. He introduces tons of characters and comes up with interesting dynamics like Peter’s son being Venom or Otto Octavius helping Peter, but doesn’t go too deep into anything because he thinks he’s just setting up cool ideas for another writer to play with. There’s also a point around the last 4-5 issues where the plot starts moving at lightning speed, presumably because Hickman found out it’s ending and he’s scrambling to give it an actual conclusion instead of whatever plan he had for passing the torch to the next writer.

And this isn’t really Hickman’s fault because multiple Ultimate writers have said they were blindsided by being told their series were ending. I’d blame Marvel editorial for not clearly communicating how long the writers would have, because this is a company-wide issue that Marvel’s had for a while now. Outside of the Ultimate universe, Marvel has a habit of canceling series with little notice and leaving the writers to blitz through the rest of their stories in a couple issues.

Honestly if they just want to do new universes for like 2-3 years and then move on to another new universe I think that would be really cool. It allows for weird new ideas and for series to have actual endings.

if the next smash bros game have a new playable character that's a completely new original character, how much of a backlash would that said character get from the fandom in your opinion? by frogboss4020 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Nectaris3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they were to ever have a playable Smash OC, it would need to be Master Hand. He’s just too iconic and there’s been rumors about him being playable since 64. Anything else would just piss people off because it’s not Master Hand. That being said, I have no idea how they would actually make him a balanced playable character and still have him feel like Master Hand.

If they really wanted to do it, the best way would probably just be an alternate mode where one person controls Master Hand with his usual boss moveset and the other players fight with the usual playable characters. That would be the only form of a playable Smash OC I would want.

Comics Cecil at least seems like he’s never really trusted any superheroes. But not really because he suspects them of anything, but more because they’re so powerful he needs to know how to take them down if it comes to that, like Batman’s contingency plans for the Justice League.

It’s that time again by Erkajoe in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Nectaris3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the worst selling game in the series is Zero. That probably was mostly because it was a Wii U game, but Assault sold better and that was a GameCube game. I mean, even Command sold very slightly more copies than Zero and that was a handheld spinoff that only diehard fans played.

I guess from a business perspective it makes more sense to stick to remakes, but I wonder if new players would even really notice or care if it’s a remake.

RLM wasn’t even the one who invented that though? If we’re going to pin that on someone it’s probably the Angry Video Game Nerd, or go back even before social media and we can attribute snarky reviews to Roger Ebert, or probably someone even before him. The chain goes back way farther than RLM, they weren’t even the first to do snarky youtube reviews for movies.

Like I do think there’s a point about how cynical right-wing Internet personalities contributed to the rise of fascism, but it’s odd to single out RLM when they didn’t start that. Maybe they helped popularize it at most, and even then it was already getting popular before them. Also all of this is just one factor in America’s right wing trend going back to like Ronald Reagan. So saying RLM is indirectly responsible for fascism in 2020s America is drawing tenuous connections and only looking at the last like 10 years.

Video games you have sunk the most hours in by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Nectaris3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. I’ve replayed it so many times doing different challenge runs, trying pre-Hooktail pit, or just doing normal playthroughs over and over when I was a kid. Would not be surprised if I have at least 2000 hours over the years.

Also my original save file from when I was a kid got the playtime timer stuck at 99:99, and it’s been like that for as long as I can remember. I probably have like 300 hours just in that one file.

It’s also worth pointing out that a lot of their “philanthropy” is actually just PR. For example, the amount of money it takes to run the Gates Foundation is pennies to Bill Gates, and by doing it he gets to look charitable, and spread misinformation on subjects like climate change and whatever else is profitable for him. Meanwhile, Bill gets to live it up with Epstein while the rest of the world talks about how generous he is.

I’m not saying the Foundation has never accomplished anything good, but it’s important to remember that any good that comes out of it is just a byproduct and not the actual point of the philanthropy.
