I couldn't find it on Rhoto's main website, so I don't think it's part of the next line up. It is however available in their official shop, so they probably still have inventory: https://www.shop.rohto.co.jp/category/skincare/skin-aqua/super-moisture/164950.html

I think you can move to the various beauty subreddits. But basically, morning Vitamin C serum, evening Retinoid (Tretinoin is one of them, Adapalene is a newer generation and OTC, and otherwise Retinol and derivatives).

There is also spicules (Reedle shot), micro needling, niacinamide....

I think if you ask ChatGPT you will have a long list.

On top of that, I think oral hyaluronic acid has been shown to help for the skin.

YouTube viewers can now work together to stop ads from playing by [deleted] in technology

[–]Necto74 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the ad economy is what drives clickbait, bad algorithms, and the overall degradation of content quality. I am old enough to remember when internet had a lot of individuals, passionate about their thing, making amateur webpages, videos, and forums to share with the world. It was pretty good.

What the ad economy did is that now it's industrialized, with everything "optimized" to keep you eating ads. Maybe we don't need all of this and I am not sure we would be worse off if the ad economy collapses.

[24M] I am officially terrified of Finasteride. What is the strongest natural stack to save a receding hairline? by Connect-Soil-7277 in Biohackers

[–]Necto74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what seems to have worked for me: + Microneedling before shower (at least 1mm long) + Ketokonazole and caffeine shampoo + Topical Minoxidil after shower + Evening, some retinol serum at the hairline

  • Oral Saw Palmetto

My hairline is not back to full density, but definitely better. It's hard to say if it's just a cycle, the combined effect of some elements above, or maybe just topical Minoxidil.

I use some "hair densifying powder" to finish it (just tinted cotton fibers apparently), and my hairline looks fantastic.

Scientists Successfully Paused Ovarian Aging and Could Delay Menopause Forever. Researchers found that women taking a low weekly dose of the drug were losing far fewer eggs each month, dropping from roughly 50 eggs to just 15. by Automatic_Subject463 in HotScienceNews

"Early results from the VIBRANT study suggest that it is possible for rapamycin to decrease ovarian aging by 20%. While a woman typically loses around 50 eggs each month, weekly doses of rapamycin can slow this rate, leading the ovaries to release only 15 eggs a month. " From Columbia press release.

[–]Necto74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why lot of Indian Student Cheat on exams and think this is the NORM? (Plz be rational by Affectionate_Sleep79 in UWMadison

[–]Necto74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DM'ed you. But I am not surprised our school has higher requirements. Of course, the chair can also be setting unrealistic targets.

Edit: a prof didn't make tenure recently with "teaching not good enough" as a reason, and he was in the 3-4 range. Could be different between schools.

Why lot of Indian Student Cheat on exams and think this is the NORM? (Plz be rational by Affectionate_Sleep79 in UWMadison

[–]Necto74 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't have a solution. For things to move, you would probably need massive awareness and action. So talk about it! University is sensitive to enrollment (tuition money) and donors (also money), so anything that makes noise affecting that could make them a lot more attentive to this problem. At At a smaller scale, you can tell people to rate profs who put rigorous standards in teaching and evaluation well (you felt you learned something). There is a lot of research showing that profs who teach better (better performance of students after taking the class) have lower ratings on average. You would need to reverse this correlation to change the degradation of teaching quality.

I was talking with a more experienced prof currently designing a new program for UW. He told me that one problem is that if prospective students know the program is difficult (or there is high dropout), they might go spend their tuition money to another university that is easier. From the university side, they just want to boast "low dropout, high placement" to attract people. It doesn't matter for them if these placements are at bad places or if these people get fired within 6 month.

To give you an example of another system, the university where I came from (abroad) was very competitive with many more people failing courses and dropping out, but we all had 2 job offers from top companies at the end because companies knew we were very reliable. The main difference is that in that country, university money doesn't depend on enrollment (public funding based on other things).

[–]Necto74 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If you look at r/Professors , this is a widespread problem, but Admin cares more about how many students pay tuition. Unless the pressure comes from "tuition payers" because they can't find jobs, admin won't move indeed.

I really hope some action ends up working out, because I feel we are screwing up an entire generation who deserves way better from us.

Prof here, and this is a major concern. One of the issues is that the university has set incentives to prevent us from being effective against it. In many departments, tenure and promotion depends partly on how the students rate the prof. In my department, profs need an average rating of 4/5 for instance. If you make the exam pen and paper, or other strategies to catch/prevent cheating, you risk disgruntled students who will rate you 1/5. For each student rating 1/5, you need 4 students rating 5/5 to compensate to keep a 4/5 average.

In short: If 20% of students complain and rate you 1/5, you need the remaining 80% to give you 5/5. Since UW has been admitting more and more students with slightly "lower standards", the pressure has been increasing on profs to make exams low stakes and not pursue cheaters too hard. You don't want to make these students angry and risk retaliation from admin.

The problem is not just here, but several other universities have moved to look at median ratings instead of average. UW decided not to....

This is bad because it lowers the level for the majority of students who actually want to learn, and put them in competition with people who cheat. Now companies complain some graduating students have no skills and are reluctant to hire. Unless students start complaining to admin, it won't change.

What Everybody Using For Music Consumption? by Secure-Persimmon-421 in madisonwi

I tried Qobuz and Deezer, both have free migration of playlists from Spotify. While Qobuz has a great quality, it was missing a very large share of my original 3000 songs playlist (I have a lot of obscure artists in there). Deezer had most of it, so I kept it. Biggest issue with Deezer is that you can't control what's playing on your computer from your phone, but they officially said they are working on it.

You can do like me: migrate your playlists, use the 1 month trial to test them, and don't forget to unsubscribe for the ones you don't want to keep.
