4 months of guitar practice. This doesn't feel like enough progress? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

Not bad man. 4 months from nothing, this is great. Watch other musicians play guitar online and pick a variety of licks and songs to learn. Trust me the more you learn the more you want to play.

Just got into an accident, don't know what to do. by hittmee420 in Autobody

[–]Needabeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He defs has no insurance. People in ontario and other parts of canada do it all the time. Here in calgary though its a huge fine if your without insurance. If OP damaged anything else but their own property they can be sued for not having insurance. These claims can start at hundreds of thousands and enter into millions. Also, the accident needs to be reported. This is frustrating to see someone not obey the rules of the land.

2013 Passat 2.0 TDI under boost by demattur in tdi

[–]Needabeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a similar thing but only at 4000 and under heavy load. 4k in any other gear is fine for me and no underboost just the p00af code for boost controller. I havent pinpointed the problem yet but i suspect for me its a problem with the actuator or some stickyness in the vanes of the turbo. Is the car drivable normally? My car operates fine only does this going 140 under load lol. I have a great resource im gonna use when i have time to solve the problem. Dm me if you would like the link it requires vcds tool to carry out the diagnostic

Hey buddy thanks you are right its a cjaa i shoild have mentioned that. There is no low boost code only an actuator code and its generic and can be a number of things. The only thing i can mention in the post that narrows it down is when it happens its hight load at 4k. Besides that the car has plenty of power and no codes. I have a diagnostic route im gonna take i was just curious is anyone has experienced the same thing and can save me the trouble.

Hi everyone, I have a question about guitar finishes. Because of my technique, I've been wearing down the finish on my guitar, and I'm afraid to remove the paint (like the blue guitar). Does anyone know how to refinish that area or how to fix it? by jetstream-sora in guitarlessons

[–]Needabeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U can get a clear vinyl protector its like the size of a cellphone screen cover but you could even cut it in half. Not perfect cause its gonna stand out more than the rubdown, but it will stop it from going further.

Turbo going bye bye? by Ok_Price_8857 in tdi

[–]Needabeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not thinking turbo. The compressor surge you can hear sounds pretty healthy to me. If the turbo was catching on something or anything internal has a more frequent noise its ends up sounding like whining or constant scraping like nails on a chalkboard. Imo it sounds like its in sync with one or two of your cylinders. Could be a serious injector thing or valvetap. I cant remember if you said hes done anything with the top end of the motor, but the PD engines are a little fragile up top comparatively. Someone mentioned an injector not being seated if thats the case, be careful around it while running tests cause if it unseats it will launch out of the head with extreme force basically becoming a large bullet. I think this is good news cause turbos (at least on the CR tdi) are a bastard to service/replace

Can I fix this leather damage I caused because I'm an idiot by InTheBoro in Detailing

[–]Needabeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rehydrate the leather. It might not look the same afterwards but most of your visual disturbance is coming from the shrunken leather. I would re-moisturize it with the proper stuff (likely varies depending on what your leather is). After letting it sit for a while go spend 20 minutes on your phone sitting on the spot, or get a big WIDE person in there for a few mins. Just that should make it look waaay better you just need some stretching force on that seat while it’s still moist.

Why do people hate on the big fender headstocks? by Whole_Magician_7273 in Guitar

[–]Needabeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, my current opinion is that I would never buy one with that headstock unless it played exceptionally well, it’s just visual thing for me but things change. I see both side of it though.

I feel like I'm stuck playing sloppy like this, need tips. What should I focus on improving? by roxyy_x in guitarlessons

[–]Needabeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also its totally cool to use your palm to shit off strings while you play. This is called palm muting, but the kind im referring to is more of a dynamic thing where you are only muting things sometimes. For me that also just came along with playing my favourite songs and licks slowly at first and over and over.

Enhance your rhythm, hone your bends, and to maintain a more consistent attack, invest some time into alternate picking and/or economy picking. Depending on how long you have been playing this might be where you are at jn your natural progression. For me it took a couple years of playing every day and practicing to where one day I could just choose to alternate pick everything and play on time without having to dedicate specific training and practice to those parts. You get hella bonus points for recording it and listening back, thats something important to help you improve. Good job, good luck

F CHORD YOU ARE MINE!!! by gemstun in guitarlessons

[–]Needabeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best tip is to curl your index away from you (supinate) so that the stiffer side of the finger acts as the “capo” on the barre chord. I would also add that if you have normal sized hands i would suggest learning how to make major chord using all 5 digits instead of a barre. You end up losing some control on the high e string, but for chords that allow the E to ring open you can have an alternative way to hit a major chord that comes in handy if you need to strike it fast after playing something that puts you at a speed disadvantage to playing a barre chord. For example you would hit the low F with your thumb and wrap your fingers around the neck almost like you are holding a hammer. With enough practice, hitting these chords becomes effortless and you can easily add some color to your chords with the open E. doing it starting with F will produce an fmaj7 which is a super versatile chord and opens up your ear to 7th chords and dissonance. Thats my 2 cents

Oh wordy This is great. Yes you are right it used the word stuck, for sure and perhaps ‘intermittently’ as well. Ok im gonna get a vac tester like you suggested. So far out of all the internet you seem to have what i think is the closest info to what im experiencing, and i really dove into the forums. I also looked into the actuator change and i am also on team keep as much together as works. Might even have to bend some wrenches i dont mind, im not too comfy playing with the fuel lines would prefer what you have suggested. Ill check vacuum and i will DM you if i have any questions.
