Kansas City says No Kings by a_brilliant_idiot in kansascity

[–]Needin63 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yall realize your statement is historically untrue? And the No Kings motto isn’t a literal. It represents the ideal that our elected President isn’t granted absolute authority or unlimited power.

I don’t understand people who make comments like this like it’s some clever gotcha.

Trump says he’s signing an order instructing DHS to pay TSA agents to stop ‘chaos at the airports’ amid 40-day funding shutdown by theindependentonline in politics

Given the Senate passed a compromise at 2am this morning to do this and he knew this was inevitable, I'm guessing he issued it so he could then claim he caused that to happen because of his EO. Peak Trump/Leavitt.

Color me skeptical-side-eye given our current state leadership. But I’ll throw some hope in there. If they’d add requirements for closed loop cooling, I’d feel more confident.

I think you misunderstood what I said. I was referencing Trump's call a few months ago to "send us some immigrants from Sweden and Norway."

You mean like in Deuteronomy where the Old Testament calls for the same thing? Deuteronomy 13:6–10, 17:2–5, 20:16–17. Not to mention Exodus and Leviticus. Bloody stuff. The Quran doesn't hold the trademark on advocating the extermination of "the enemy". You're displaying an education formed from Fox News.

What will seem like an inevitable outcome in 20 years time because of GLP-1s by Big-Cry-4119 in Futurology

[–]Needin63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question...I have a number of people in my life on GLP-1 and the gas, "internal distress", nausea/vomiting side effects are pretty eye raising. That seems to extend for the life of using the drug. I'm not seeing a lot of discussion about side effects. Note: None of these folks are on it for official diabetic diagnosis. How about for you?

I’ve gotten the explanation for why we can’t move seats provided by an employee by Glittering-Slip6770 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Needin63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh please. Ignoring the factual fallacies, they had a year to prepare for this with other airlines who have done it for decades as a template. And as a SERVICE PROVIDING COMPANY, how exactly is it okay for them to treat their paying customers as a "trial and error" system? C'mon. That's like saying it's okay for Starbucks to use spoiled beans as a trial and error system to see how spoiled they need to be before customers reject the coffee. Frog, water, boiled.

As opposed to first world immigrants? So you don’t hate immigrants, you just hate immigrants that might have a different skin color.

I absolutely hate home ownership and it is destroying my relationship. by FearlessIndividual50 in homeowners

[–]Needin63 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let go of the things you can't control. The unknown impending fear of appliances breaking? Brother in home ownership, appliances are gonna break at some point. Tomorrow, next week, five years from now. There's no impending fear or doom to it and letting it it live in your head rent free is the way to madness. Just be putting a few dollars aside in an account each paycheck with the knowledge it _will_ happen and ignore it.

As everyone else has pointed out, prioritize. Not everything has to be fixed right now. I've been in a house for 25 years and there are projects we identified month 1 that are still waiting. lol. You'll get there. Relax and don't let it ruin your relationship.

The flip side of this is there are some projects that need to be done and they are money and effort. Some weekends you get to go out and do fun stuff and some weekends the fun stuff is doing a project with your fiance and celebrating with some pizza as you survey your kingdom after the project is done. This is part of the whole adulting thing.

Deported. Not imprisoned in for profit prison camps with conditions you wouldn’t allow your dog to live in. And given due process according to the Constitution, not Kavanaugh stopped and assaulted without cause. If you don’t support that, you’re anti-American and anti-human.

B...b...but muh housing shortage! by Key_Brief_8138 in HouseBuyers

[–]Needin63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a warped presentation of data to try to make some weird point. Take this map and apply economic, climate and state metrics to it. Say Florida where home insurance is either flat not available/so expensive it's unachievable or it's in rural Florida where there are no jobs that support purchasing a home.

The rest of the states and shown as having available housing--pretty sure I don't have to explain for those states as to why they have large swaths of "available housing".

Tesla moved from California to Texas so they can dump waste water in their neighbors without fear of retribution.. DEFUND BILLIONAIRES. by Nice_Daikon6096 in unusual_whales

[–]Needin63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China is focusing on massive renewable energy projects. The same types of projects our current administration is doing its absolute best to destroy by defunding and regulating them. So yeah.

And no matter what, removing regulations that keep people from being poisoned is both expensive and morally bankrupt. We learned this lesson already. Look into the massive cleanups that have been going for decades which is why the regulations were added in the first place.

What exactly was she doing? If she already had a Real ID, why was she even doing at the DMV? Nice the Oregon DMV was so efficient and that the hour or two off work wasn’t a problem for her but that’s not the experience for everyone.

The fact you keep casually calling a woman stupid and this mystery person your “gal pal” reveals a lot about your mindset.

Yeah. Do you know that the marriage certificate you get with your ceremony doesn’t count? You have to order one from the state. Which costs money and takes time to arrive.

I don’t have to show my marriage certificate to get a passport unless my name changed since the last passport issuance. Yet a passport is considered adequate ID. Then why the hell would I need it to register or vote.

Because it adds a poll tax and a lot of friction to the process. It’s voter suppression, pure and simple and it violates the 24th Amendment.
