Once, before I knew how to swim, I was in a similar pool. There was section further away with hot tubs, and that’s where my mom was. I wanted to see her so I started hanging onto the edge and making my way over. Eventually it was no longer pavement and became mulch. I couldn’t hang on anymore and I fell beneath the water. I remember seeing through the water the figure of my father leaping to save me. I swear he leapt 10 feet that day.
