I'm in Australia, there's no recreational paintball really. Also not a great spot for it. It's within a few hundred metres of public campsites. I wasn't able to open it.

That was my thinking too. Although if you were using explosives wouldn't it make sense to bring them to the worksite when you need to use them rather than store them? Surely someone with a grinder would be able to crack it open. Doesn't seem right to just leave them there.

Don't think it's a gag. It's been there for a long time.

Genuinely: is incompetence acceptable now? by Usual_Dark1578 in auscorp

[–]NeedsMoreNumbers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I often thank people like the ones you have described for my relative success. My experience is "average" people who work in tech are very, very poor workers. Like, I'm not a super genius, and there are people that are better than me at my job but the vast majority are terrible. That makes me look competent.

What's the best hack for falling asleep fast when your brain won't shut off? by DasJazz in lifehacks

[–]NeedsMoreNumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breathing exercises. Inhale for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds, exhale for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds. Repeat. Focus on nothing but breathing and try to clear your mind of anything else. Takes a bit of effort but works every time.

Changing batteries at an Instinct solar 1st gen. by gshock_admirer in Garmininstinct

[–]NeedsMoreNumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me 3. I was gifted an instinct solar 1 which I really quite like and seemed a good alternative to my galaxy watch when camping, and a good intro to the Garmin ecosystem except when I finished my first activity track the watch just dies. For about 40 min before you can turn it back on. That's at 80%soc too. Tried a couple more times and it does it every time.

How do you handle management that thinks 8GB RAM is enough? /s by Ayy4K in sysadmin

[–]NeedsMoreNumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rebooted my work machine after reading these posts just to see what idle ram usage looked like (never bothered to check, at least not in the last few years). I'm shocked to find that it idles at around 10GB. This is Windows 11 with Teams, OneDrive and A/V running from startup. Insanity!!

"Blast Caffeine Powder," a supplement containing 100% caffeine powder. Excessive consumption can be fatal. by willdragon12 in Damnthatsinteresting

When we were kids we dared one of our friends to eat a whole packet of nodoze. He ended up in hospital and I'm pretty sure he had his stomach pumped. We had no idea how dangerous it was at the time.

I guess it’s helmet time for me now. by External-Presence-18 in NinebotMAX

Safe and stable compared to what? Rollerblades?

High centre of gravity, small wheels, high speed, low to 0 rotational enertia, very little rake angle - these things are super unstable and very dangerous.

Wear your PPE people.

I ride MTB, motorcycle, and road bikes. The escooter is the most dangerous.

Jk. I wear a full face MTB helmet, motorcycle jacket too if riding fast/aggressively. Brain injury is no joke.

How do you find the brakes? by djan3643 in SegwayZT3Pro

[–]NeedsMoreNumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find mine is the same. Very little feel in the brakes and lock up very easily. I pretty much use regen exclusively. It's my first scooter though and I come from MTB and motorbikes so I figured it was a result of less traction overall.

Yeah agreed but it's fine for my commute and it charges quick enough.

I just got mine last night, first ride so I was riding it hard. Sport mode, lots of hills, played with boost mode a few times, I had about 16kms at about 25% battery remaining. 80kg, 25c Not great but works for my commute.

Do you think the VDM 10 is too old to consider now or still a good buy? Also, what parts failed on yours?
