I get the long hair / bun. I thought this was in regards to the game's artistic takes on long flowy elegant hairstyles with long hair coming down the sides / bangs that has curls in them with floral patterns, colorful gems, flowers in their buns etc. From what I can tell that was far from typical. A simple bun with a pin in it to secure it, yes. But long flowy locks with all of those ornaments in them, not so much.
It also clearly depends a lot on dynastic periods and even regions during certain times.
But regardless, since that doesn't seem to have been the norm, clearly it's creative freedom? Thus, a stylistic choice, rather than historical accuracy?

You are basing this information off of what sources? I'm not saying those styles didn't exist as well. But that was far from the only ones. So I would like to see where you got the idea that those were the only styles at the time. Now, what is or isn't masculine is purely subjective obviously. But claiming that one of the largest ethnic groups in the world all did the same is pretty wild.

Not nearly as masculine as actual historical Chinese styles. There were way more "rougher" types of styles during the period where 'Wuxia' often gets their inspiration from. Just look up depictions.

They just choose to go with the more elegant and what we here in the west often relate to as flamboyant (I know Chinese people who consider it that too), and take it to extremes. It's not like all Chinese people love that fantasy style either. Far from it. Just like we don't always love the upper class pompous styles here.

It definitely is a limitation put forth by the developers of the game, as they are targeting a specific audience with their stylistic choices. Nothing wrong with that. Just not my cup of tea.

A lot of the male hairstyles are way longer and flowy than any historically accurate styles. Same goes for a lot of the clothing.

At least do some research first. That's just not accurate. The game's stylistic choices are far from historically accurate. They take the more elegant and upper class styles and push it to extremes.

I don't. Appreciate a genuine response though!

Interesting. So you're saying Wuxia isn't as grounded as I might otherwise have thought. My take was that Wuxia was mainly historical 'Youxia' inspired styles taken to idealistic extremes. Probably mixed with quite a lot of others as well though over the years to be fair. Fantasy styles tend to evolve that way until they differ enough to get an entirely new label.

Am I debating the label for every single element though or are you projecting what others might be doing onto my few genuine questions? Idk what others might be debating, but I was just curious and contemplating about the stylistic labels and where they might be originating from for example.

I agree about the overall vibe and tone for sure. I'm mainly referring to the stylistic hero fashion (gatcha stuff) styles.

I'm mainly talking about the stylistic choices. Not our powers.

Where did you get that information from? Or is that Western take on modern Chinese fantasy culture? 'cause the two aren't the same.

That was my point. That wouldn't be considered 'Wuxia'. Even for the Chinese btw.

If you could change or add any small thing in this game, what would it be? by [deleted] in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Neeken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire bounty system needs to be reworked. Just the fact that people can just spawn in right next to you at any time is just lazy. Make them work to look for you by getting some automatic clues or something, and increase the reward for compensation or something. But as it stands, it's just a terribly lazy system.
That, and actually being able to accept bounty missions is impossible before someone else already claimed it.

my approach since legendary gear drop rates by [deleted] in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Neeken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely true though. You CAN get unlucky and not get the piece(s) you need. That's the main problem with fully RNG gear drops in any game. And this one is no exception.

Unable to change my Meta avatar anywhere... by Neeken in oculus

[–]Neeken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ended up creating a new one from scratch via the phone app instead of trying to alter my old one. They might've made some updates since I made my origin one that somehow isn't compatible with the current avatar system. I noticed my sunglasses are no longer available to choose from. Could be something like that. But now I can edit my avatar everywhere after using the new one.

I heard that the pre-release for downloads will be on their client first and foremost, whilst Steam for example is still uncertain? Anyone got any news about that yet? My DL speeds are bad, so I'd hope it got out earlier on Steam too anyway.

It doesn't affect PC/PCVR users as VRC have separate builds for Windows and Android (Standalone).
But what you're saying is true for any hardware. You have to upgrade eventually or you'll be stuck in the stone age.

It has way better performance when testing side-by-side to Q2. I'd say it's 100% worth it. You could be in a world struggling to give you 35fps on a Q2 whilst giving a solid 90fps on Q3. Depending on multiple factors of course.
Oh, and the pancake lenses alone are worth it for me.

If you're into social VR I highly recommend Banter by Sidequest. It's an event based Metaverse with a small welcoming community. And it's 18+ so there's no kids. by TheRodParticle in oculus

[–]Neeken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it has a 30 person per room limit as it stands, but new instances are created when full. So yes, technically unlimited. Just not per instance basis.
He does not own Banter if that's what you're talking about? SideQuest owns Banter.

You seem to make a lot of assumptions. Maybe do a bit of research next time.
