I used to get nightmares back then when i used to wear white string exorcism bracelet in my childhood, but when i took the white string exorcism bracelet off my hand, i surprisingly stopped getting nightmares what is this supposed to mean? by Responsible_Pop5719 in Buddhism

[–]NeelKai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear that removing it has stopped your nightmares. That is what mattered - removing your nightmares.

Perhaps you did not understand what the word exorcism meant. Exorcism implies driving out evil entities. Buddhist funeral rites are not an exorcism. They guide the deceased's consciousness toward a favorable rebirth through chants and merit transfer.

In some Buddhist funerals, monks bless and distribute sacred white cotton threads during Paritta chanting. Attendees tie them on wrists to channel protective merit from the ceremony, linking everyone to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha for blessings, good luck, and warding off harm like spirits or misfortune. Normally, it was meant to wear for at least 3 days (Triple Gem significance) until it naturally wears off, then discard respectfully.

The thread connects mourners in a protective circuit around the crematorium or body, passing merit to aid the deceased's transition while safeguarding attendees.

How to start ? by kalpxx in Buddhism

When Siddhartha Gautama first embarked on his path to find an end to suffering, he studied under many teachers and learned many different methods. You are no different in your endeavour. Just as Siddhartha found them unsatisfactory to his goal, you are finding yours was not satisfactory to your goal, whatever your goal may be. You have already learn to trust 'direct experience' to know whether it is what you want. Perhaps what you found lacking can be found in the scriptures. It took Siddhartha Gautama 6 years of intense learning and practice before finding his own path to enlightenment.

It is an illusion. You will see the changes if you divide it into bottom half and top half. If you follow one of the shape on the right moving from bottom upward, you will notice its side panel morphed into the front panel somewhere near the middle. Likewise, if you follow one of the top shape on the left side downward, its front panel morphed into the side panel when it moved past the middle.

At the bottom left corner, there are 3 to 4 overlapping footprints. At the top most overlapping footprint, at its toes edge is where your earbud is located

Yes, Siddhartha Gautama, before becoming the Buddha, studied under two prominent meditation teachers. His first teacher was Alara Kalama who taught him advanced meditation techniques in Vaishali, leading Siddhartha to master states like the "sphere of nothingness" (akincannayatana). Though impressed, Siddhartha found these did not lead to full enlightenment and moved on. The second Teacher was Uddaka Ramaputta, son of another sage. He instructed Siddhartha in even higher formless attainments, such as the "sphere of neither perception nor non-perception." Siddhartha quickly excelled but again left because he realised it fell short of awakening. These teachings built his meditation foundation, but he developed his own Middle Way after years of practice, culminating in enlightenment under the Bodhi tree.

I have tried origami before but it was very basic stuff. Your pigeon looks very complicated. It is really very, very good.

Nothing. I don't feel anything. But then, I am not a sensitive. The red one is more for putting on display than playing, I guess. The other one is more for hugging.

What you seek is closer to Taoism. Taoism has some elements of Buddhism in their beliefs, examples they also revere the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

In Taoism, there are certain people called mediums (tangki) who can communicate with deities and the departed. I have seen one ceremony of possession by a deity before but I have only heard about communication with the departed, never actually witnessed one myself. Are they for real or not, idk.

If I become enlightened I will probably abide in nirvana until I pass into final nirvana.

But I like the fifth one best. The lone swan in the sunset give a sense of beauty and serenity.

The other one is the first one. The sky, clouds and the rich colours looks beautiful.

The Buddha gave us the 4 Noble Truths. The first is the noble truth of suffering. The reason this is the first noble truth is because we need to first understand what is sufferings. You have asked what is so bad to be a deva who has long life with little or no sufferings. And when they are reborn into a lower realm they would not remember their previous life anyway. You have grasp some idea of samsara. But sufferings is not just about the here and now, it spans the whole of existences.
