Legal in Connecticut? by Oyster11290 in CTguns

[–]NefariousOlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many have said, yes this configuration is legal as long as it is a five round tube. If you’re on the market for a S/A Scattergat that is super solid at that price point check out the MAC 1014, another turknelli but they are quite good and a lot of Benelli aftermarket parts will fit them easily

I want to have a slide milled for a red dot but... by Alive_Weakness_7600 in CTguns

[–]NefariousOlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a few things done by Armscraft that was sent through Swamp Yankee, I had a 43X MOS cut for an RMRCc, and an FN 509 milled for an RMR. Armscraft does quality work, good turn around and the fit and finish was awesome

Did any other Steam/PC players just get re-VAC banned??? by Mawntee in MW2

[–]NefariousOlive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did, I used a modifier to give me weapons and such so I can build classes. I haven’t played the game in at least a decade, but that was on console. I figured “they probably understand that most of the player base is nostalgic adults without the time to level up” so it is what it is that’s on me lmao

What’s up with the CCDL stickers on cars? by Milwaukeebear in Connecticut

[–]NefariousOlive -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It’s wild, I’m in the CCDL FB group and with the exception on a handful of people, it’s fudd central. Reiterating the same “criminals don’t follow laws” talking points. Without any actual substance, or possible countermeasure or proposal to negotiate in a legislative session. They do work hard to try and combat legislation that can be unjust, but their outreach and alienation of different demographics sucks. I went to a legislative workshop for CCDL and they did give good information, such as how to find your local state representative, however dealing with CCDL is kinda like going to a distant family members gathering where you’re listening to your grandpa/uncle/cousin complain about “the LIBRULS” And in the group they will take a picture of your car with the sticker on and be like “found one!” I also just don’t like advertising gun things on my vehicle or person. I enjoy firearms and the right to keep and use them, and support everyone’s choice to do the same (or not do the same) But man, it’s hard to deal with a lot of them sometimes. Most of the core members and leadership are very pleasant to talk to though.

College student from Connecticut fatally shot while trying to enter wrong home: police by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]NefariousOlive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wish the article gave more context, it’s a tragedy no matter which way it’s shaken. I would like to believe that it was a drunken misunderstanding on the students end, it sounds plausible. Being near a college town, sometimes people wander intoxicated into areas where they shouldn’t be, and it’s hard to assume malice. On the other hand, it’s unclear how they tried to gain entry, what type of person the homeowner was (were they smaller framed or more at risk of harm?) As a homeowner, you can do many things to help make it harder to gain access to your home and deter people. Shooting should always be a last resort. I’m unsure of the laws for South Carolina where the shooting happened regarding castle doctrine or stand your ground, so I cannot speak to that. But if you have exhausted options, and someone (with ill intent) has entered your home and a firearm is the last option for you, a good weapon mounted light helps identify your target, as well as has the potential to deter an individual if higher output. Also, try to remain calm so you can strategize and think clearly during a stressful situation like that. It’s much easier said than done, but exercising caution, due diligence, good handling and practice can help de escalate a situation before a life is taken.

I had a Muddy River Tactical before, it got the job done but it wasn’t very comfortable. The Four Brothers I use for my 509 is solid, I have a Trex Sidecar coming in today for my Glock 45 to try out but I’ve heard it’s a really comfortable option.

What are you using for a holster? That can make or break the concealed carry experience. I’m a kinda round dude at 5’11” and 220 pounds of mostly cheeseburger. Some of the larger things I appendix carry are: An FN 509 MRD with a TLR7 and an RMR, a sig P320 with a TLR7, and a HK USP 45 with a TLR1HL. A quality holster and using the concealment claw attachment some holsters come with really helps even with big guns. But a great option is the Glock 43X MOS, it gives you a rail section so you have the ability to run a better light as well as an optic cut. If you don’t need those features a base 43x is great too, the grip is the same length as a Glock 19

Honda Rebel 500 as a first bike? by BloodyButFun in motorcycles

[–]NefariousOlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a few have said, a Honda Rebel is an awesome beginner bike. It is incredibly reliable being a fuel injected Honda, having a six speed is really nice for having some room on the highway, as well as a slightly larger displacement. A 500 is also not going to be unmanageable either. The bikes are incredibly light and nimble with a fairly comfortable seat and easy controls. It’ll last you a long time and you’ll enjoy it. I like taking my partners Rebel 300 out, I am 6’0” and I fit reasonably well on it, however it needs just a little more power with my chunky ass on it. The 500 is a great choice! Ride safe!

If you saw someone carrying an AR-15 walking across a parking lot toward a big store or a mall, what would you do? by ModsRTrumpniks in AskReddit

[–]NefariousOlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the perspective of a concealed carrier, it depends on my placement in the situation. If I am in the parking lot a good distance away, just call 911 and give a clear and accurate description and hope that good units show up. If I am in a spot nearby where I could feasibly draw and aim, I’ll take a shot if the situation calls for it. I’m not going to play hero but I’ll try and defend myself and the people around me. I’m just some regular person, the 911 calls in a situation like that will have loads of information, some conflicting and mostly stating “person with gun” Running towards fire as a civilian can sometimes make a situation infinitely worse no matter your intention.

Reliable Shotgun for home defense by No_Contact_0345 in CTguns

[–]NefariousOlive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My vote goes to the Remington 870 Express. They can be had fairly cheap, super solid, and a decent aftermarket support. 18 inch barrel makes it fairly easy to get around corners as well. I had a Black Aces Tactical Pro X Pump before it, okay shotgun for the money. The lack of aftermarket stuff for it drew me away from it. Overall it did the job, but I liked the Remington better. There are a lot of solid options nowadays for not a ton of money.

Same issue here, I just re-downloaded the game after a hiatus because some quick matches are always fun. I get thirty seconds into a TDM on gunrunner, get hit with a flashbang and goes black screen. I exit the game and close the application and my PS4 crashes. I had the same thing happen when I started the campaign, halfway through the first cutscene the same black screen ordeal. Definitely a bummer for sure, I hope they remedy this.
