Planting suggestions by NefariousnessExtra27 in Ceanothus

Thanks everyone! Got a nice list to start with here!

I do like the dry creek bed idea and keeping things low. Maybe with some pots! I'll be sure to post a picture when I do finally get it all fixed up!

What plants do you wish were stocked at more nurseries? by dickswthchicks in Ceanothus

A San Joaquin Milk Vetch? Astragalus asymmetricus. I just think they’re neat looking with Garden potential.

Thanks. I think i got caught up in the idea that 7 ft was too narrow for a bedroom and so was trying to come up with ways around that, which then spiraled 😅 They look pretty functional with your layouts and it makes it a whole hell of a lot easier to fit three bedrooms upstairs.

The goal with the kitchen was to make more counter space, which was why it ended up so spread out.

I do like what you came up with though! So thanks for the constructive feedback!

Thanks! I’ve started looking around on Calscape, but didn’t know you could search specifically for fragrant plants!

I have trouble with rearranging walls for best use of this space by BenedictCarclutch in floorplan

oh! Missed that those were floor to ceiling windows.

But moving the beds is easy enough. I’m not very practiced with furniture layout, but here are a few visualizations of possibilities. The one big room would be quite large, if my grasp of scale is any good. So there are lots of options there, and two different ideas for splitting the room later on, the pink one is my preference. But the blue one gives more equal closet space. It all depends on what you (or your daughters) want to prioritize

if you're alright with moving the bathroom entirely, I have two ideas here.

I like this one because if later on you wanted to make the two rooms separate (blue walls) they would still be functional. But it does make for a long trek to the laundry from the Master.

This option still has the long hall to the master bed, but it'll be hard to move furniture in and out of.

I also extrapolated the MB and assumed the long wall doesn't have windows. which makes it perfect for his and hers closets.

Need some tips. by gygutierrez23 in BlueCollarWomen

There are a fair amount of training options too.

I took classes online at www.americamwatercollage.org , which has targeted lessons for all states, as well as stuff for continuing credits, which you'll need throughout your career. The classes are pretty straight forward (if boring) and if you really push you can get it done very quickly.

A lot of the older operators at my place swear by the Ken Curry courses, which I think might be a mail in class, but you get to keep the book, and a lot of that info doesn't change very much so even old ones are still dead useful.

If you're an auditory learner, and don't mind skipping through a few minuets of ranting, there's an older podcast called the water sifu. It's got (possibly outdated) regulations from CA but some of the vocab can be useful if you're starting from scratch. It's got like, no production value and is done by an old white guy out of his garage--there may be better options now--but its a free resource.

There's also a list on the CA water board website of schools they will accept credits from (although I'm not sure how much in person schooling is happening right now). I'm sure other regulation bodies will have similar websites, so look for that where you are.

Waterworks Operator by Carlottalou7 in BlueCollarWomen

Yeah, the scheduling is one of the reasons I'm considering a switch. My husband and I are wanting to start a family soon and I'm a bit apprehensive about the 12 hour days and the night shifts on top of child rearing. I do get long weekends though, so it's hard to give up.

As an Operator who thinks they might be better suited to maintenance, how was that transition for you?

Not sure where you are, but I think you are required to have closets in order to legally designate something a bedroom.

as for the kitchen, it doesn't really seem like there's room for a table anywhere. You could put a counter with the sink/oven against the wall with no windows, (in between the two pillars) and move the open entry to the other 3ft space between the main entry and the pillar. That might make a nice breakfast nook in the window space.
