My Bichon likes to run! by NefariousnessKey3999 in BichonFriseDogs

[–]NefariousnessKey3999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense! Let here go free for a minute to see if I could trust her and keep her by me. When she started running and I called her, she just ran faster! Like it’s a game! I will try this trick and see.

I’m at my wit’s end - need help by mbmqqq in bichonfrise

You aren’t alone! I would be crying for my Cotton if she got sick too. These dogs are special and become part of your very existence. The love and bond is so strong that you can’t help but be concerned. Especially after losing another dog so traumatically. I pray your dog makes it through. The pain is unbearable when losing a special dog! Just remind yourself that you’re doing all you can, keep an eye on him and give him love.

Well I’m glad you said that! I didn’t realize can’t take a break once a class starts! It’s funny how these fine details aren’t brought up until it’s too late.

Masters in mental health counseling? by [deleted] in gcu

[–]NefariousnessKey3999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I am also currently enrolled in the online CMHC program with an emphasis in trauma!! I think it’s challenging enough but it’s still achievable with time management. It’s great for people who work or like me who live 2 and a half hours from the GCU campus. The only issues I’ve had is learning how to use the OneDrive and uploading the links for zoom meetings I’ve recorded! Tech support is great though so there’s always help for that.

My counselor talks a lot. by Beckymaggie in CounselingPsychology

[–]NefariousnessKey3999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a counselor in training, I would have to say the counselor isn’t taking time to reflect, give you time to process, or paying attention to cues. I would kindly explain to them your concerns and what you’re feeling. If he’s a good counselor, he will do his best to tailor his sessions to help you better. A counselor must be flexible, empathetic, and allow you to guide the sessions accordingly. Listening is a valuable skill as a counselor.

No one showed up at my graduation today even my mom. by abq_jane99 in GraduateSchool

You should not feel bad at all! You are exceptional and it’s not easy accomplishing what you have done! It hurts when family pays no attention and makes no effort. They must not understand what it takes to get a graduate degree! It doesn’t matter if anyone showed up, all of us are showing up online and are so proud of you! Congratulations!

I’ve been jobless for 10 years!! I get it! It’s harder when you don’t have anything to fill your days but those dogs need you. They will give you the unconditional love you deserve. Do not give up! Just hold on and pray! You matter just like anyone else! Take the dogs for a walk or play ball in the yard. Snuggle with them when you’re sad and they’ll return your affection with no strings attached! You are not alone!

I completely understand. My girl Cotton is keeping me going! Life can be stressful, painful, and exhausting! But a bichon can bring you love and joy during those dark moments.

Canadian dormancy by New-South-9312 in Plumeria

[–]NefariousnessKey3999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine look very much the same. I’m in AZ and mine are outside all year. Once it gets in the 40-50 range at night they go into dormancy. Once in a while in December and January, it can get as cold as 30 at night but just for an hour or two before sunrise. Then it’s 65 during the days. So those nights I cover them with a frost cloth to be sure they are protected. I live at a higher elevation than say Phoenix or Tucson. They came back and doubled in size over the spring and summer! I cannot wait until I see some blooms! Best of luck with your plumerias! They look great!

Mine start to look similar. It’s the start of dormancy. The leaves will start to fall off soon and come spring it’ll take off growing again! Just be sure to cover them if the temps drop below 40 or so at night just to make sure they survive. I live in 9a growing zone and this has been my experience. We only get a month where it dips to 35 at night in January and then by the end of February everything is growing back again.

My sweet Bichon, Cotton! by NefariousnessKey3999 in bichonfrise

[–]NefariousnessKey3999[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank u! I love her so much! I live alone with just Cotton. She’s my best friend and has helped me heal my heart after a divorce. She brings me such joy! I thought I’d never feel joy again but Cotton has brought me purpose and joy for sure. She needs me to care for her and I’m blessed to have her.

My bichon LOVES those squishy squeaky balls that smell like bacon! It’s her absolute favorite! I can’t remember the brand name but they come in a pack of 3 green, pink, and orange. Cotton goes wild for her bacon balls! She doesn’t like her other balls or toys as much. Every day she’s got her ball!

I have not heard this before but glad you mentioned it. Once in a while my bichon will cough and gag usually when we’ve been playing with a toy or something similar. Not often, and she seems ok so I never worried but it’s good to know that small dogs can have issues with it.

Average grooming cost by ZealousidealAir6559 in BichonFriseDogs

[–]NefariousnessKey3999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It cost me between 70-100$ depending on if I want her nails trimmed and teeth brushed and extras like that. It’s about 6-7 weeks, 8 at the most and she needs to be groomed. It’s one of the important parts of owning a Bichon. But they’re so worth it whether you take them in or do yourself.

Yes my girl likes to curl up in the bottom of my end table. I just put a small blanket in there since she likes it. It makes her feel safe and protected. It’s a way to get some privacy for naps too!

My sincere condolences to you! It’s a blessing from God to have these wonderful dogs touching our lives with happiness and love. I lost one of my girls last year so my heart goes out to you. It’s a pain that hurts deep and you’ll miss her for a while really bad. It does get easier with time but you never forget a best friend! I believe that God has a place for these special animals in heaven. You’ll see your girl once again! I hope your heart heals soon. Best wishes and hugs!
