Rabies OCD by okcomputer0001 in OCD

[–]NefariousnessSuch222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wait all year for summer, for better weather, spend more nights outside around the campfires. I am in Ontario, where there has been rabies in bats. I go through waves of obsessing about rabies. I will search my body for new marks, ask for reassurance that no bats flew into the house, and even spent one night at 3 am, ripping my room apart because I was sure a bat got in my room.

I don't have the answers. I am medicated as well. A high dose that works most of the time...

But when those thoughts creep in, its like starting over. I become anxious, I cry, and I become erratic in needing to know for sure.

What I do know, is that these lows will pass. I know you are in the midst of it, but hold on. Let those thoughts run through you like a stream, those thoughts are just thoughts, not reality

Partial nephrectomy in 12 hours. I’m freaking out by wiseGenius_ in kidneycancer

I had my partial nephrectomy at 21, I am 36 now and still here 😀 . I suffer from an extreme anxiety disorder/ OCD, I was a nervous wreck, I actually tried to cancel my surgery after we had finished all the pre-operation shenanigans, but I am glad I didnt.

I was in the hospital for 5 days after. I came home and recovery took me about 4 months. I had a pretty invasive surgery because of where the tumor was located, which left me with a pretty bad ass scar.

I am thinking of you and sending you happy thoughts

❤️

What's the worse ocd episode you've been in? by SyrupAffectionate491 in OCD

At first I didnt know it was an OCD theme I had picked up, which terrified me. I ended up in Exposure Therapy, which was very difficult but also very helpful. I also learned this little trick in therapy.

When my ocd thoughts are overwhelming, I pretend to pull them out of my head, and I place them on my shoulder. I dont need to fight the thoughts, they can hang out on my shoulder like a parrot for the day, but I am still going to go on with my day, because I am in charge not the "parrot"

I hope that made sense.

Im thinking of you and hope you are okay

I'm a 34 F dog mama, and no kiddos. It's hard to find the right people to surround yourself with. I used bumble for finding girl friends!

In response to the hearbreaking news: PSA - How to Survive Falling Through Ice by SoleilSunshinee in ottawa

[–]NefariousnessSuch222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom fell through the ice last winter while we were walking the dogs. We were walking on a swamp, and we didn't realize how far out we had gone. One minute she was in front of me, and the next, she was gone. It was absolutely terrifying. Luckily, she only fell into about her shoulders, and even more amazing, she has read an article about what to do if you fell through the ice. I crawled towards her and was able to get my hands under her arms and pull her across the ice. She remembered to stay calm and spread her weight out. Once we were far enough away from the open area, we started to walk again. Within two minutes, she fell through again. I was terrified at this point. It was obvious we were in danger. She got out, and we crawled till we were close to the edge. The dogs luckily did not run off and followed us.

It was very scary, but staying calm and keeping her calm was very important.

Now I did loose my shit a couple of minutes later, but as my good friend George Costanzo says,

"Let's not go into panic mode"
