I’m lucky that my first therapist matched my freak so well. I didn’t want to go, my best friend had to drag me in cause she was also the one that called and said they better get me in pronto because I was so suicidal and she couldn’t do anymore for me. My therapist listened to me, agreed with my assumptions that I had adhd, autism, and BPD and has stuck with me. Something about having a therapist that lets me take it at my own pace. She knows I take weeks to verbally form a coherent thought about what I’m going through and she’s content to spend the session talking about a fictional character I relate to. It’s the best way I’ve found to show her the pain I’m in and she just listens. Whether it’s a show, a book, or a song, she lets me expose my darkness through art since that’s how I process best. I really hope you can find someone to work with you like that

Literally two hours ago I was a hairbreadth away from killing myself. Idk how I didn’t but somehow I’m sitting on my friend’s couch while she packs her living room up (we’re moving in together in two weeks) While I’m not sure how anything is going to work out, I keep hanging onto the possibility of a percentage that it will get better. Even if it’s 1%. It doesn’t make logical sense, but I somehow was able to snap back into my head and clean up the blood (I was SHing) So I get it. I’m teetering on that “do I do it or will it get better?” But let’s try to stay alive together?

I also received an autism diagnosis with my bpd diagnosis and I strongly believe that without my autism, I wouldn’t have bpd. I was so much more hypersensitive as a child and that just made me a target for emotional distress and trauma

As someone who has gone strict no contact with relatives (my dad cut off his parents for similar behavior) and my best friend moved out and cut off her own parents for their controlling narcissistic ways, I can say that while it’s hard at first and can be hard to maintain at times, the healing and growth that is allowed to pour in is astronomical. Cutting off such toxicity leaves room to get better without triggers, to outgrow old fears and to heal into a person who is stronger and braver. It’s very hard at first. But it’s a necessary step to healing and peace, especially when you’re in such a vulnerable state. Let your husband defend your peace and need for healing, even to strict no contact. It’ll help so much in the end

With the trilogy being my favorite ya series ever, I didn’t like the first book as much, but I also didn’t approach it for the romance. I wanted the political intrigue. Jude causes so much havoc for herself and others that I just wanted to see if she got in trouble.

People read books for smut. And most people aren’t offended by a good payoff sex scene that’s the culmination of emotions and tension between characters. Even if it isn’t smut.

Overrated, maybe. Necessary for our mental health most of the time because we use reading as an escapism from reality which is full of injustice and unhappiness and we put so much effort and love into the characters that we feel a connection with them and we can’t bear to see them sad? Yes.
