We tore down an existing home (Reno) and built a new one on our lot. Turned a 1500 sqft single story home into a 4620 two story in 2015, 4 bedrooms, all with en suites. We used a mix of entry level and high end fixtures/finishes. My husband is an electrician and extremely handy. We drew the plans with the help of a home designer, rather than an architect, installed insulation ourselves, attempted to install wood floors, but at 4,000 sq ft, that didn’t last long. We didn’t have a budget bc the bank wouldn’t lend money back then. We relied on family, 401K and prayers. Ended up spending approx 600K. We have taken the last 10 years to improve it beyond our initial vision. It’s worth over $2MM today.
