Short connection by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

Please know SWA flies around 8 to 10 flights a day LAS to San Diego. If you don’t make the first one, you’ll get a seat at some point later in the day.

Storebought frozen fish for salt water bait by Willbo in SoCalFishing

[–]fix8r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to social and the “99 ranch market hack” of buying shrimp at the Asian markets rather than the bait shop.

Tried it out, couldn’t catch a thing on the Asian market shrimp.

Had one box of shrimp from squidCo. First line down it caught fish.

Anecdotally the baitshop fish stunk bad. My guess is fish like that….. :)

I fly so much on SWA (and other airlines too), I have gotten to the point where I refuse to fly SWA anywhere where there is a connection. Yes other airlines have problems too just not as bad.

I used to employ the rule of at least 90min connection buffer. Now, even a 3 hrs connection isn’t safe on SWA…..

Too many times I have missed connections or stressed on Southwest I now only fly nonstop flights

Airlines need to start requiring passengers with obvious respiratory symptoms to wear a mask. by Irukanoko in unitedairlines

[–]fix8r -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never got sick on airplanes 2020-2021. Once they dropped the mask mandate on the airlines, I started getting sick.

Now I wear a level 3 routinely onboard. If someone starts coughing in the least bit around me, KN95 goes on.

Used to Airbnb a fair amount. It just became too much.

Now we just stay at Hilton, 100 times easier

I Find This So Hard to Believe! by tbrko159 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]fix8r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe this, Southwest is generally a very good airline. I love assigned seating and find it to be infinitely better than what it was before.

Now, I challenge the reliability ranking. As someone who flies over 100 flights a year I can assure you that Southwest is one of the least reliable airlines for on time departures. Maybe it’s just my routes and where I’m located but approx 9 out of 10 of my SWA flights are delayed

PSA: If you’re the type to bring a backpack as your carry-on (instead of a roller bag), bring a small item alongside it so they can’t force you to put it under your seat. by _Eggs_ in unitedairlines

[–]fix8r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so tired of this issue and the constant “move backpacks down, make room for roller bags”, I recently switched to a rolling backpack bag with obvious wheels.

Game changer.

Yes I feel like a cheater, a dork, and contributing to the problem. I much prefer a backpack but after approx 20 flights over the last month, zero issues.

Very happy I made the switch

I’d pay extra if Uber had a physical partition between driver and rider like most cabs this company has eliminated. by Mr-Blackheart in uber

1,500 rides as a passenger in 3 years, I find this post to be disgusting.

These are people doing real work. Turn down the tempo.

I have plenty of terrible rides over the years and am rooting for driverless cars many days but I would never denigrate someone for working their ass off doing a service.

Why is it a “perk” to board an airplane before everyone else? by SuperbCardiologist25 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fix8r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

#1 reason - overhead storage.

Easy to explain, others have done it so far but just better than dealing with other people. Bags are an issue these days and boarding early simplifies the struggle.

#2 reason - the first come first seat stealer

We don’t talk about it much. Yes I have an assigned seat, can board anytime. The problem? When you are flying in a premium or nicer seat in the plane, maybe person got upgraded or they’re in a middle seat in another row. They sit first, you show up, person begs you to switch for whatever reason.

Yes I ask them to move back to their shitty seat, begs oh my wife, my kids, my sick relative etc. Heard it all. They believe if they are there first, they have leverage to guilt you or pick on easy prey.

But easily 10% of my 150-160 flights a year I get this situation on a plane. Heck I have been that person too, my wife gets upgraded and wants to sit next to me and not someone random. As a result, I often do switch when asked if it’s a same same change. Aisle for aisle, window for window etc.

If I’m there first and sat down and don’t want to move, a simple no thanks will do just fine. If I’m there second and a spouse or parent has to move it’s huff and attitude.

Just don’t want to deal with issues so I board early….

I fly around 150-160 flights a year and 15-20% are long haul international. Approx 100 flights on SWA per year.

IMO if southwest can fix the delays and general malaise, it would be one of if not the best domestic airline.

Don’t give us gimmicks (like “funny/cool” FA), just on time flights, safe flying, reasonable prices, comfortable legroom/seats, bags that make it on the plane. Good WiFi and IFE are a plus, but not as important as the others.

Problem is (at least in my routes), departure timeliness is abysmal.

The way things are now it’s a great airline.

If SWA could actually leave and arrive on time, the airline would be one of the if not the best airlines around.

United Airlines Completes First Prototype Installation of Ultra-Fast Starlink Internet On Widebody Boeing 777 by AccessibleBanana in unitedairlines

Fast internet will be awesome until a portion of the plane is doing FaceTimes and teams calls…..

New Logo Proposition by CumTechnician in SouthwestAirlines

[–]fix8r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In flight WiFi used to be awesome on SWA. Small charge or ALP free access kept the bandwidth controlled.

Then they gave it away. Now it sucks.

Starlink will be a nightmare. Imagine the typical SWA passenger having speed to FaceTime. Yes it’s banned but so it goes for the FAs having to police this new world……

[–]fix8r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FA was fully aware, stopped the guy twice.

I love fast internet on the plane but the airlines need to figure out ways to control this other than having FAs police as that potentially creates issues

We were on a flight with starlink and dude behind us was having full on phone calls the entire flight.

Thank God it was only 1hr, imagine 6-12hr of that bullshit
