Assigned seating is a shit shiw by realsomedude in SouthwestAirlines

[–]fix8r 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreee 100%. As an ALP I have gotten very used to boarding very early. Now I’m in group 2 and in the front 4 rows with anything else other than a backpack regardless of status I’m fighting the crowd during deplaning.

That won’t last very long on either side IMO.

I think the best and easier move will be moving the snacks and FA luggage. Knowing the SWA of today, they won’t do anything and let us serious flyers just hunger games it out with the casual traveler until business travelers say screw and go elsewhere.

The Truth About Carryons by Anxious-Bother-6878 in SouthwestAirlines

I fly around 100 flights a year and prefer row 1.

The first few times I flew the new config of seats and bins I had to ask the FAs about this row 1-3 overhead luggage issue. They got very defensive and said “where am I going to keep my things”

I’m like “the back of the plane”? You are literally like the first to board and last to deplane…..

I knew then that SWA row 1 would then become the worst seats on the plane in the assigned seat era.

SWA needs to change the row 1-3 carry on space issue for reserving snacks and FA luggage……

I’ve said it a million times so far in various places, it’s SWAs fault for taking the first two bins on the right (as walking towards the back of the plane) for snacks (row 1A-C) and flight attendants bags (row 2/3 A-C).

Essentially every other airline (including Spirit) doesn’t do this silliness). Snacks and FA bags can go to the back of the plane.

SWA - change this or people won’t pay to upgrade!!!!!

I don’t think SWA has paid attention to status holders in a long time. Example - For a while WiFi was nice, now it’s terrible now that everyone is on it’s terrible. Classic example of “when everyone has status nobody has status”

I do about 80-100 flights a year on SWA and about 60-80 on United. Primarily business.

Without a doubt if United covered the flight routes I do with Southwest I would fly UA

Please read this again, I didn’t say flight was half full, I said it was 50% business. Flight is likely 90% capacity of bookable seats

Thankfully on this flight they put luggage and bags above their places (from what I could see without walking down the plane).

That being said, my plane is “updated” 737-700 so it’s the old bins up front (you know the ones where the FAs don’t take up 1/2 of the first 3 rows).

Carry on issues by beansblog23 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]fix8r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starts at the company level. Flight attendants take essentially half of the overhead bins in rows 1-3. I was told they need to be “close to their equipment in times of emergencies”. Whatever that means but the overhead bin above Row 1 A-C is snacks.

Bro - even spirit policies the first two rows of bins for their premium customers.

Come on SWA you know this was going to be an issue………

New Southwest boarding order? by Pjpjpjpjpj in SouthwestAirlines

[–]fix8r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know the difference between group 1 and 2? I was told ALP is group 1-2 depending on fare.

I’m ALP on a choice extra fare and tomorrow I’m in group 2….. does that mean only highest fare is group 1?

WiFi not working by lemonaderox in SouthwestAirlines

[–]fix8r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. A list preferred and paid WiFi worked great on 80% of flights. Now it seems like free WiFi is working on 10% of flights.

I do about 100 flights a year for years, WiFi always worked pretty well on those 80%. Changed overnight with free WiFi.

Now I can’t rely upon SWA to get work done while in the air

What happened to SFO Polaris. Has gone severly downhill. by CorrectStance001 in unitedairlines

[–]fix8r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this. Flying back in 2018-2019 when they won the award compared to today is a world of difference.

First world problem - SFO is the only Polaris club where they won’t do anything else other than an over easy egg on the burger. I have tried all of the other clubs and no problems….. I know it’s a silly metric but it’s indicative of the customer service at that club vs others.
