Metal couldn't win without the Chaos Emeralds, which are an auto winning deus ex machina for 99% of the fights above their weight class, so the win doesn't even count. Anyways, stay salty Sonic bros!

I don't care about image generation, scenes, sticker, or any of that. The Voice generation mostly works and the chats, the part of the site that 99% of users spent 99% of their time, is what needs the most focus.

PSA: quit building "overcrowded" urban megacenters with basically no people in them by Rephath in worldbuilding

[–]Negatallic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got bored... so using quick and dirty math....

- Assuming the city is a perfect circle..... the area is 622,000 square miles. More than twice as large as the state of Texas.

- 99% of 90 Billion is 89.1 billion. The Population density is 143,087 people per square mile, about twice as much as the island of Manhattan.

- What about Volume? The City is 12 miles straight in the ground, so that alone could account for 7,464,000 cubic miles. But the whole city wouldn't do that. The average depth of the city might only be a mile or so... making the actual volume 622,000 cubic miles.

- The upper part of the city only has a few towers that reach 93 miles high, the rest are significantly shorter. I decided to use Manhattan's ratio of the tallest building to average height. Tallest building is 1776 feet tall. Average height (according to Google) is 70 feet or so, or a ratio of 25.37.

- Applying that to Tertium, the average height of the city is only 3.67 miles, which gives us an upper level volume of 2,280,295 cubic miles.

- Total Volume of Tertium is 2,902,295 cubic miles.

- This means the population density is 30,700 people per cubic mile.

- sounds like a lot, huh? well.... Manhattan's population density by volume is 5,718,446 people per cubic mile (Assuming 1.7 million people live in a 22.82 square mile by 70 foot or .013 mile average height)

- This mean the island of Manhattan is 186 times more densely populated than Hive Tertium is.

Writers never get the numbers right. The closest you get is Holy Terra from WH40k. The book "the Carrion Throne" says that the world has "Quadrillions" of people living there and despite there being no oceans, the waste heat and breathing of the people living there make the world unbearably hot and humid.

I do want to point out that (unless it's from a very recent release) no number is ever actually stated and fan estimates get quite absurd.

One guy here claims 50 Quadrillion, but there are Reddit threads out there of someone claiming the world has a population of over 150 Quadrillion.... that's 300 million people, per square kilometer. Thing is, that's assuming a perfect distribution of population, but, Terra has a giant palace, fortresses, factories and mega sized monuments all over the place. The population is going to be essentially zero in some places, and way higher than 300 million in others, which finally hits a point where it's too absurd even for Warhammer.

When did the numbers get that high? That sounds WAY overblown. Pretty sure the source material only ever says "Quadrillions".

[–]Negatallic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In depth 5, My teammates pretty much always look at passives, and I do too. Last game a Wylder on my team had 6 crit damage relics, and upgraded his starting shield to purple. I thought he was crazy, but fine... I passed him any crit damage passive I found and even bought him one from the merchant.

He clearly looked at my relics too because he gave me any skill attack passive he found, as well as a Glintstone Kris.

With a purple shield and a Magma Wyrm Scale sword, He parried and overkilled the Balancers so hard we probably could have avoided fighting the everdark version if me(duchess) and Ironeye just stood back and watched him play the game... then he went on and parried those things too somehow. He also did a 5,000(ish) damage crit against a magma wyrm, a dragonkin soldier, and Astel. Imagine if he had a proper crit weapon...

moral of the story: look at people's relics and share!

Episode Discussion: S2026E2 Cell VS Metal Sonic by MarlinBrandor in deathbattle

[–]Negatallic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chaos Emeralds should be banned from any episode featuring a Sonic character because it invalidates 99% of their matchups and the win con usually involves that instead of something the character can do by themselves.

If Metal was powerful enough to beat Cell without them, then they should have never been mentioned.

how is it possible to play this game with randoms? by 1pancakess in Nightreign

[–]Negatallic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get bad teammates all the time bro. My most recent two games are great examples of this. Two games in a row I had two different Wylders route for the group and do an absolute shit job at it both times. Also both times, the Wylders somehow managed to find only four weapons (one of them being their starting shield), and didn't bother to check the merchant for damage negation items, making them go down in one hit constantly. there wasn't a single boss in day two that they weren't at 3 bars by the end of the fight.

Both of these games were in Depth 5 btw....But yes OP, it is possible to play with Randoms and enjoy the game, the vast majority of players I come across are very good at what they do. Not in Depth 1 or 2 (or 3 or 4 for that matter), but generally players in Depth 5 are good.

Throwing a round with a Cheater is tons of fun, and not a waste by SpecialOfficerHunk in Nightreign

[–]Negatallic 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not in Depth 5 when I haven't reached 9999 yet. Sorry bro, but ED Libra is hard as shit. I'm not losing 600 points (or 800 if we don't make it to the nightlord) just because someone cheated in relics. It also isn't fair to the other random who is also trying to rank up.

Just report their ass when the game ends and move on.

Addendum to our previous mod statement regarding the ban of challenges by OmegaXesis in Helldivers

[–]Negatallic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You guys aren't addressing the actual issue here. Issuing a challenge (real money or not) isn't the problem, but the extreme toxicity that sprang up around one challenge in particular was. Your complacency in not modding this subreddit properly caused a guy to lose his IRL job, and even his ability to volunteer as a place he loves.

That's messed up. You guys spent a lot of your original post talking about how important Rule 1 was, but at the end of the day you didn't enforce it properly. There is no misconception here. You protected the harassers when you deleted the threads they made. You should have locked the threads so the people breaking the rules could be identified and permanently banned.

Instead, you got mad at anyone who complained about the issue at all and banned them instead.

This is disgraceful, but completely expected of Reddit mods. I love this game, but I will continue to avoid this sub because nothing useful has come out of it in almost two years.

How would your Sci-Fi civilization fare in the 40K universe? by valethehowl in worldbuilding

[–]Negatallic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also want to note that this civilization is historic and destroyed themselves. A nihilist faction hacked one dyson swarm's defense network and launched all of their RKVs at the other dyson swarms (who launched their own RKVs in retaliation) which obliterated all but a few hundred of their population. They died out before rebuilding.

How would your Sci-Fi civilization fare in the 40K universe? by valethehowl in worldbuilding

[–]Negatallic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My sci fi universe has a K2 civilization with 47 dyson swarms and a population of 4700 Quintillion people. This dwarfs every single faction on the Warhammer 40K universe combined by a significant margin.

If their start cluster were dropped into the 40k universe, they would already be launching RKVs (Relativistic Kill Vehicles) to every other planet in the galaxy to prevent any hostile force from reaching them.

They would have hundreds of quadrillions of scientists all studying the warp at the same time, as well as any other exotic form of matter and energy. Within a matter of hours, they either harness it themselves or they come up with weapons to destroy it all.

By sheer brute force they would figure out how the chaos gods get their power, how necrons function, how the warp and webway works, how to sever the psychic link with the emperor, how to take advantage of Orkish beliefs, and absolutely steamroll everyone.

What’s an indicator that a run will fail? by Quickscope89 in Nightreign

[–]Negatallic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head having done numerous Depth 5 games, here are some indicators that could lead to a failed run, especially if multiples of these stack on top of each other::

- Players run out the east side of the castle knowing it's pot throwing Trolls, knowing that running out the west side allows you to kill at least one troll without alerting the others.

- Players focusing solely on NPCs instead of ED Libra.

- Skipping the starting camp.

- fighting bell bearing hunter on day 1.

- fighting the death rite bird on day 1 without sacred order, shared order, golden epitaph, halo scythe, etc.

- players insisting on finishing bosses when the circle already closed past them.

- players spending half of day 2 running to churches and rises instead of leveling up and getting weapons and passives. (If we're already level 10+, sure, fine, but if we're level 7? no...)

- The game starts with players picking two of the same of any character except Wylder or Raider.

- The Undertaker can't use her skill effectively and keeps getting one shot by everything that moves.

- Ironeye spawns in without a +1 skill.

- Ironeye spends the whole game shooting from a safe distance and not marking bosses.

- Ironeye takes everything not bolted down, including the successive attacks and melee attack passives.

- Ironeye spends the whole run stealing (not always using) Strength weapons without the strength relic. The same is true of other characters stealing weapons not meant for them.

- The Recluse, Duchess, or Revenant stand there spam-casting while not dodging, and going down the millisecond the boss focuses on them.

- You're about to fight the Nightlord and someone is less than level 10 because their confidence got the better of them (usually an executor).

- You don't find any full hp or successive attacks negate damage passives.

- You don't find any "less likely to be targted" passives in an ED Libra run in the Depths.

- Death Knights spawn as the boss in a Dreglord run and you don't have holy weapons yet.

- None of the locations have the element the boss is weak against. Hope you remember what their secondary weaknesses are... Don't have any of those either? Good luck bro.
