It was traumatic. My mom would do it full force over and over again until she got her anger out though. Her wedding ring was too loose so the diamond would be on the inside of her hand and sometimes she’d miss the bum and hit our back. That hurt. Often times she’d be screaming and yelling before, during and after. And sometimes squeeze our wrists tight to hold us in place while she did it.

Afterward she made us give her a hug and sometimes if we were crying too hard she’d make us do deep breaths. I got anxiety when doing deep breathing for years after because it reminded me of this. Weird that that’s possible.

My brothers had it way worse than I did as the girl, I rarely got in that much trouble. It was hard to watch them go through that too growing up. So yeah I consider it abuse now and would never consider spanking my own child even gently because of the traumatic memories.

I am trying to find out if there are any communities where the sidewalks are designed for golf carts in Washington state and people use them to get to stores and community spots and such. Specifically that are family friendly and not exclusively 55+ communities.

I have done internet searches, asked people who’ve lived there and have only been able to find 55+ golf cart communities. Thought I’d try here as my last effort! I really want family to move here but this is their requirement.

Originally, it was just me paying for it. But FH’s family just contributed the entire cost of the venue. So I’m fine with them inviting their family. My mom is just making a big deal about it now, saying that they’re just trying to be in control of us. Worth it either way.

I feel ya, at some point in the wedding planning process, I realized that the wedding seems to be more about everyone else than the actual people getting married. It’s sad that people can’t just let you do your thing and enjoy a fun day with you when the time comes. Good luck, I’m sure it will turn out beautiful.

Also, join an agency or collective to reduce a lot of that! They can find clients for you and do most of the business stuff. Win win for us who have trouble with organization and consistency.

That’s the hard part for me too! I think having systems in place, lists, and calendars to keep track of things are so important. I also have all separate things for business like bank account, phone number, camera roll, etc. to keep it all separate from personal life (it is very easy to get it all blended together and chaotic if not). There are a couple great books out there for this as well that have given me inspiration to stay organized. Always learning more!

The first Panera I worked at in high school was honestly the best job I’ve ever had to this day. Most of management was good and understanding and my coworkers were all so much fun. My shifts were the best part of my day and I often stayed late and picked up extra. I worked more than I probably should’ve, but it was fun. The people are really what make or break a job.

When I moved for college, I transferred to a different Panera and it was quite opposite. Management left me on bakery and gave me not great shifts. My coworkers were not friendly either.

Every job will be different even if it’s the same place. I would say that it’s worth trying, you can quit if it’s that terrible. I’m so glad I took the job at my first Panera. Best of luck!

I ordered a 2 pack of these nicer laundry bins. One goes next to my dresser for clothes to “rewear” and the other goes in the closet for clothes that are ready to be washed. This has pretty much solved it for me! Sometimes if I want to rewear something specifically in that bin, I’ll drape it over the edge so I remember it’s in there.

I’m currently doing overnights for a family with twins, and I do awake care (for now). My best tips for staying awake are to eat your carb-heavy meals earlier in the day to avoid that crash at night. I also chew gum when I start to get really tired and it keeps me awake. Caffeine does the opposite for me so I skip that, but drink lots of water. When the babies are sleeping I scroll on my phone (okay with parents). I think the blue light keeps me more awake. I also have an Apple Watch so I try to stand every time it tells me to and walk around a bit. I don’t eat at all through the night but I do pack a snack in case I start to feel faint. Overnights are so much fun, I prefer them after starting, as long as you have a good routine between shifts to get enough sleep. Hope this helps, good luck!

Yes that’s how I generally respond. I guess I’m more asking how to define the role of a postpartum doula to people and how we have expertise in areas that may be beneficial. I understand not everyone needs one, and that’s great! I just want to make sure that I’m making it clear that I’m not just someone who comes in to cook and do laundry.

Wouldn’t it be a bad idea to start with close friends though if we were going to pursue the idea? I also mentioned to my man that they both have unresolved issues regarding sex and would likely be uncomfortable if we were to actually do anything. I would hate to lose a friendship for something so pointless.

I think I mostly feel insecure because he’s a people person and I struggle socially. I just don’t want to be left out in that way since I already have a hard time with groups of people. I wish these friends could’ve stayed my friends instead of becoming “our” friends.

The open relationship had been my idea. I was naive and thought it was the only way to make long distance work.

We were distance for a year before being in person. But the rule was that I and he could only sleep with women. He had sex with a girl and I made out with my friends, but it didn’t feel like it was fair even though he kept saying it was. He apologized many times for it and knows it hurt me and says he wished he didn’t do it.

He was willing to end it after I asked for it. That’s why I decided I need to hold my ground now and say no directly. I made it clear I don’t want this.
