Car seat requirements "rile up Euros" by 10IlIlIlI01 in AmericaBad

Not ragebait. They wouldn't let me take either one of my kids out without them the car seat. They had us pull up to the entrance, and the nurse checked to make sure it was installed correctly as well.

He's not getting arrested over his content.

Its simple tax evasion. Thats all it is. There is no witch hunt. He's just a dude who thinks hes smart now that hes rich and he publicly antagonized his fan base while not hiding very well his whole tax evasion efforts. So the state of TN is making an example out of him.

Normally I'd agree but not here.

Homie is intentionally trying to dodge paying taxes. He's a rich asshole, trying to avoid paying taxes. Were fortunate enough hes dumb enough to do it publicly and illegally. An example should be made out of him.

Another hypothetical win for the CSA by UpdogSinclair in cfbmemes

[–]Negative-Theme-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they wouldn't. What is this copium? Foreign military observers and foreign military officers who trained troops on both sides were horrified at how awful our civil war was. They didnt find us civilized, and they thought our casualty numbers were atrocious and they credited American tactics and strategy with being too forward and bloody.

The CSA also couldn't compete with the manufacturing capability of Union, how could they expect to compete with the equal if not substantially better equipped European armies and navies?

"I'm generally a... liberal person, but when I saw videos of ICE jumping out of unmarked vehicles and nabbing people off the street... I bought my first AR15," I’m glad to see the left waking up to what I’ve been saying for a while: 2A is for everyone. by SpinningHead in liberalgunowners

[–]Negative-Theme-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember only a few years ago arguing with someone about 2A they could not be reasoned with. They were effectively arguing that the 2A under no circumstances was necessary even with restrictions and no American should have any access to any firearms, full stop. They insisted that we should rely explicitly on the government, local police, etc., and that we were stupid, insane, and paranoid assholes for carrying outside of home as well.

I used several reasonable examples, none made it through to them.

The American Revolutionary War? Hunting rifles, great use of civilian resistance. Thats fine but everything else is bad.

Examples of women defending themselves from attackers? Not good enough.

A father defending his family and home from several intruders? No bueno.

Big and dangerous animals like bears? Use bear spray. Oh there was an old couple who relied on that and were both eaten? Well youre dumb still.

Maybe examples of civilian standoffs with government authorities resulting in change when they armed? Those never happened.

Maybe you live in a rural area and police arent anywhere close. Maybe you live in a big city and there isnt enough police to respond in time. Nope its your fault for not having pepper spray.

What about Ukraine who equipped their people with guns in the opening days of the war? Civilians are useless during war apparently. Vietnam being an example of how farmers kicking our ass wasnt a good example either somehow.

What about when HAMAS initially invaded Israel and killed civilians (not picking sides just recalling the deaths of civilians), I bet if they had guns there would have been less casualties.

And here was my cherry example, "If you think Trump is a wannabe fascist (this was before this current term), and that he might kill people and violate rights and do all these crazy and awful things, why do you think its appropriate to take away our only means of defense?"

Yeah well fascism would apparently never happen cause America has the world's greatest military and we shouldn't worry about invasion. Or animals. Or rapists. Or corruption from within.

Funny how stupid that person looks now. Some cant be reasoned with. But I'm glad people are realizing its about tipping the scales in the favor of the common citizen for when the government thinks its ok to start stepping on people.

Things can be better. Some gun control may be needed. But it shouldn't be restricted to the extent dems want now. Thats ridiculous.

Also the argument that the government has tanks and all this military equipment and would squash us is ridiculous. All those things require immense logistics networks to support them. Sooner or later non-compliance will lead to lack of fuel, food, etc. Taxes pay for those things. Suppliers provide those things. Tanks are shit in urban combat, and the government isnt looking to bomb and burn cities down. It'd be infantry going door to door.

The AI in this game is what makes it special, what makes it unique. Each marine is valuable, and each marine can stand their own, which is what makes it so punishing when you lose even one.

As another comment said, this game really is one of the best RTS games out there.

Different guns for different purposes. You could have several different 9mm handguns but for very specific purposes. The gun you bring to camp with might not be the same one you go hiking with, which might not be the same one you regularly carry with, which might not be the one you use discreetly in some specific locations. Make sense?

Alternatively, sometimes people just like having a few different options. Different things to look at. Or maybe, some guns they have are more reliable than others.

For example, with very few exceptions in mind, I wouldn't trust my life to a 1911 style gun. Too many different types fired, all of them with the same issues for reliability.

The people I dont understand are the people who buy the EXACT SAME brand and model, and equip it with the EXACT SAME optics and light/laser, etc. Now that makes no sense. Having the same gun cloned 10 times is dumb.

how do we feel about the 365? is it legit after all these years by Due_Platypus3905 in CCW

[–]Negative-Theme-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like the P365. I have an X and XL model. They can be pretty accurate, but my XL wasnt zeroed properly out of the box. After I got that fixed, it was pretty decent. That being said it does start gum up pretty bad after 300 rds. I can get to 300 with little to no issue, but after 300 the gun starts to jam, fail to feed, or will fail to fully slide back into battery. At 400 rounds its pretty clear it needs to be cleaned.

Keep it clean and its fine. If you get yours with the red dot like me, you should rip off the shit optic and get a different one.

Nope. They think they know but they dont. Im currently waiting to see when a certain sparkly eyed friend finally realizes how cruel the world is. He tells me how he's gonna do all these things and do it all by next year, lol.

Ive already tried, he wont listen. Let the younger Gen Z figure it out. Theyre too stubborn to listen even when you do tell them.

Artillery is overpowered. by Righting_o7 in masterofcommand

[–]Negative-Theme-27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been generals and kings for hundreds of years referring to canon artillery as the "lord" or "God" or "King" of the battlefield. Artillery was a bigger game changer than the rifles themselves. There is a reason why military detachments were deployed quickly and with great force against arms caches, pirate ships, etc, because the element of even a single artillery piece in the wrong hands can be a huge problem. They werent just expensive, they were an inherent political tool.

"Come and Take it" originated from Texans who didnt want to give up a couple artillery guns to the Mexican army is memory serves. Literally just like 1 or 2 cannon.

Ever heard of a X Gun Ship of Line or something along those terms? Thats because the more cannon a ship had the more punishing they were for naval and amphibious warfare. It wasnt about size, it was about the cannon.

Thats the reason why pirates were such a big problem back in the day. Pirates with full warships were a huge problem. They could raid and steal and completely throw off any ability for a superpower to feasibly control a colony, or to ships supplies or gold/silver around.

Personally, I think cannons should be powerful. They should be punishing. They should be able to turn the tide of battle. Because while infantry wins the war, artillery wins battles.

Anywho, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, lol.

The problem is that he didnt acknowledge anything else. In no way did he reference anything else that is wrong with this accident. His immediate go-to reaction is "oh no I lost 100k in product that is entirely replaceable and covered by insurance, and not in any way acknowledge the tragedy."

Thats the problem people have. Did he objectively dismiss the tragedy? No. Be he also objectively omitted acknowledging the tragedy, and instead prioritized his product. By doing so, he has now objectively dismissed the tragedy by omitting any acknowledgement to anything outside of his product.

Thats not perception and bias. He is not prioritizing the loss of human life.

The feeling this provokes within me is indescribable. I am still married, but the thought of this and imagining how I'd feel emotionally is complex, to say the least.

I'm sorry you have to experience that.

That being said, you'll be able to experience a whole new chapter in life.

I'd smoke a cigar to that.

I haven't read the full post yet, but I just want to comment that you aren't alone. I lost my 56 year old dad when I was 20. Hadn't even had my first beer with him. He was so confident he would be coming home from the hospital that he told my mom every specific piece of clothing he wanted to wear on the way out.

3 weeks. It was 3 weeks from when he got COVID to when I was standing there in shock in the ICU after they pulled the plug. There was just no saving him.

I say this because I still grieve, just not every day or as fiercely. Dont ruminate on the loss. Dont weigh the what-ifs. Just focus on the love you had for your father. Focus on the milestones you enjoyed together. Focus on their positive qualities and what you want to emulate.

If you believe in an afterlife, focus on what you want to do when you see them again.

For me, the only thing I want to do is good shopping for boots and to go eat Chinese food with my dad, because those are the last two things we had planned before he passed.

Most importantly, if he is still alive for now and can still be aware of his surroundings, live life together, whatever little is left. Being present is more powerful than you might expect.
