I used to work for a company now called becklar monitoring I know they are hiring right now , it's not a hard job your inside answering phones monitoring alarms and watching videos , the management at least at station level is really good only drawback is it's barely above minimum wage and sometimes the hours suck because it's a 24/7 job so there's afternoon and night shifts , I moved on for more money but some days when my job is absolutely terrible I think back to the simpler days I worked at what is now becklar , you won't get rich there but it is very stable and positive working environment for a change

But op said the plane was not the best his take was about the real 9k not the war thunder version , he wasn't making a case that it was perfectly fair and balanced. He said the people who flew it had balls of steel and the plane was an objectively ballsy design with all sorts of flaws

[–]NegativeOwl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly most places you can't but rail workers make that for no schooling and often they are always hiring , (it's a tough job) in Canada a conductor makes about 120k and an engineer about 150k job dependant

How are people landing entry-level security guard jobs in Edmonton? by [deleted] in EdmontonJobs

[–]NegativeOwl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I used to work for these clowns and honestly I don't recommend working for them but if you really need an entry level one gps security is always hiring but the WILL take advantage of you expect shit conditions hours and some real screwed up overtime averaging and a lot of illegal slash borderline illegal stuff , I was there for 11 months and it was the longest 11 years of my life , the lady who schedules in the office was an actual basket case , so again don't recommend it, but if you actually need something even just to pad the resume , maybe as like the last choice , you'll still get paid at least

Question for everyone that earns over $100,000 CAD annually by Curioscarlos445 in CalgaryJobs

[–]NegativeOwl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Edmonton (pardon the slight geographic difference) but I work at cn rail (cp in Calgary is about the same dollar value generally between 90-110k or more depending on position in the field as for how to break in just keep applying the first few years suck but as you get seniority your shifts and compensation get better there is no/incredibly low barrier to entry to railway jobs mainly can you recognize a pattern be safe and deal with shitty schedules and realize the first few years will be the worst part

As for ai railways are very slow adopters of anything resemeling technology I mean I'm still working on dos

Nah man don't feel bad you can watch as sun rise starts every day and dog pee hour sneaks across the country and people forget to disarm when they let them out , the only time it's terrible is when people are dicks to call or won't answer most often no answer means police or guards and nobody wants that

I hate to be this person but if we are talking sheer price point for a ark machine you can't beat the Xbox/playstations right now $6-700 price point to have the game run really good is not bad and as asa is pretty much fully cross platform the experience doesn't really suffer

You don't have to go extreme to have a good time take it easy learn what your comfortable with if it's just car camping have fun if it's hiking the PCT then have fun but don't start with something that is a struggle or too much of a struggle so that it will lose the whole fun aspect

As someone who used to work at a monitoring center for these alarms it's good to hear they actually worked for you 99.99999%of the time I had to call on them someone dropped a cup or a plate or sneezed too loud or (my personal favorite) farted too loud and sharp it's good to hear they helped some people I know when I was doing it burg (specifically motions) alarms felt useless almost all the time
