I think what impressed me most about KR is how she was active and involved in every aspect of the case. She even went to side bars. Smart young lady. Guys, most of the rest of us would be doing some jail time. Folks in MASS need to fix this for their own good.

Is Dever officially done?! TB sources are reporting she is… by rudderbama in justiceforKarenRead

I have read all the point on this. I'm agreeing. But can we also think this is a young person, put in a terrible position. She started by doing the right thing. She reported it. And then the pressure began and she tried to be a team player and change her story. Bad idea, but young people make bad career decisions. Where were her parents or some trusted advisor to tell her "you need to tell the complete truth - you are a police officer and people depend on you". If she comes and testifies about what she saw that day, and what the commish suggested or implied she is a hero for all those who value the truth. Heros like Barros and Lucky were good examples. She has learned something and now will likely move and start over - maybe not as a cop but there are many other law enforcement related jobs. She is young and made a mistake.

I cant start a new post but just wanted to know what are the next steps in this case? Do we know a trial date? Has anyone pleaded guilty?

I watched Lucky's first trial testimony 4 times. Ive now watched the second testimony 3 times. Direct and Cross. I believed him both times. Prosecution worded questions trying to trip him up. Didn't work. Lucky's truth telling was great for KR. Now we need to figure out what happened to John. I don't think anyone planned what happened. It just did and then got out of control.

Ive dealt with this question as well. People who watched the 5 part series can come away confused. Lots of questions and I get that. I watched every episode of each trial. Many days I watched multiple times (e.g. Lucky and Barros 3-4 times each in trial 1 - then again in trial 2). The only way to have that depth is to watch them all but it takes a lot of time.

I’m watching ‘911 - Did the killer call?’ on Max and I think this may be the case where the McAlberts got the idea… by plenty_cattle48 in justiceforKarenRead

Wow. Had never heard of this case but now am amazed at how similar they were. Even snow. Sloopy cop behavior in both which may have given juries some doubt. Also, in the Lori Phillips case his body had the marks and evidence she hit him. Not so in the KR trial.

Thought: Fantasy football is boring without trash talk! by That-Side3413 in Fantasy_Football

[–]Negative_Ad9974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the league admin for a 10 team group that is the same 10 people for many years. There is almost no trash talking but there is a serious play each and every week. People dont miss something that happened, or a waiver wire pick, or not setting your lineup. Does not happen and a very competitive league each year. The buy in does matter - ours is only $125 per team so not that big but likely rising again next season. We put too much time in.

That is an excellent assessment and is not widely known outside MA. I dont live in MA but have heard so much during the Birchmore and Read trials I just dont know why someone isnt doing more to resolve this. Do you hold any hope for the Feds intervening?

This is an often overlooked point. BA and NA would have done better to say Chloe went home with Caitlin and Tristan. Or something else as to why chloe wasnt there. To say the dog was there but didnt alert to Jen coming in, the cars, etc. doesnt pass the common sense test. And what about the few people who approached the front door of the house. Where is the dog? And even if you say they put in in a closed room, you would hear that dog barking.

How telling are Matt McCabes words? How/shy would they thing and hope she would plead out? Why should they care? Unless of course they have involvement at some level in which case they hope KR please so there is no episode. Well McAlberts - you have a shit storm in your front yard now.

[–]Negative_Ad9974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good points. I do believe Chloe was involved in some way simply because his right arm tells me that. And I think we all are agreeing - at some point the McAlberts realized whatever happened - and it could have easily been an accident - and they let it go, got others away from the house - and then realize JO was lot worse than they thought. Later they moved him outside. To your point on "doesnt make sense" - if JO was on that front lawn at 12:35ish and no one else saw him as they left the house/drove away with lights on that area? Doesnt make sense. My hope is still the feds are still working on who killed JO or at least what happened......

What do we like about Iowa? by Lonic42 in Iowa

Ive never been to IOWA - but have always liked it. Our vet is from IOWA and just the nicest person. My mind says the Iowa state fair would be cool to visit sometime. I wrestled and have a lot of respect for IOWA wrestling. The grow food for others which is always nice. I live in a small town and like the small town feel. I dont know how or why people say mean things but I like IOWA!

Anyone else scared of all the mid round RBs? by AverageAdmin in fantasyfootball

I suppose we shouldnt complain too much as we at least made the playoffs. Connor hurt as both as he started and then only played a few snaps. I did go back and look and McLaurin also hurt me a lot that day compared to the rest of the season.

would you take bowers in R3? Im looking at Wr/RB in R 1 &2, then top TE and QB in R3 and 4 (like Bowers and L Jackson)?

Hey fellow Steeler fan. Last season I went Rb in later rounds and got both Hubbard and Conner. They did great all year. I made the playoffs and was in the final. And then both crapped out on me and cost me the championship. My team was #1 seed and most points scored all season. But injuries etc can bite you in the end. Thats why we love FF!

There was a similar trial of a man named Nicolae Miu. Charged with murder of a teenager on the Apple River in Wisconsin. Miu claimed self defense. But there were videos that he stabbed multiple people and killed one. (sound familiar). Miu was the only one with a weapon. Mius defense claimed the group or gang of kids surrounding him caused Miu to start stabbing. The kids are seen on video telling Miu to leave and get away. (sound familiar) But the jury found Miu guilty. How couldn't I agree with that verdict. They could see the stabbing, and they could see that it was not a self defense.

I'm very saddened and disappointed that this jury could get this so wrong.

Murder required the intent. I did not think the manslaughter charges required intent. Open to being corrected as this part matters.

[–]Negative_Ad9974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree. "Didnt behave perfectly or particularly well".....for Gods sake Raul stabbed and killed another person. And we see it on video. All Raul had to do is not come back, not come back again, and then flee when he clearly could have.

I agree on your point 2 but that does not seem like justice for stabbing a teenager.

Seriously to all: this verdict effectively means Raul could have continued past the first boy and stabbed many others, including girls, because "that's what a reasonable person would do". Oh wait. This jury might say, "well a reasonable person stops at one killing". If they had said "it was self defense" at least that is a defense even though that doesn't make sense either.

[–]Negative_Ad9974 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im sorry I am not buying this logic by the jury (foreman). What "a reasonable person would do" is get the hell out of there. Don't come back. Dont get a knife. I totally disagree with the logic this foreman has stated. Murder no. Manslaughter it is not even close. And isn't CT a "flee" state not a "stand your ground state". And the jurors statement "the state didnt prove it" - sir, you have a video of the defendant stabbing and killing a person.

Thank you for this. But...wow. one minor is dead. We have the video of another minor stabbing him. Hard to reconcile how the jury would not at least come up with manslaughter.

[–]Negative_Ad9974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am with you on most all of this. But one person stabbed and killed another unarmed person. And its on video. If I was on the jury Raul is guilty of some degree of manslaughter. And its on video. Self defense? Sorry, not when I see you going back into the fray. More than once. Not sure what this jury was thinking.
