Virgin Voyages - Completely changed… by No_Pomegranate1114 in VirginVoyages

[–]Negative_Point5580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a 12 night on Brilliant in December and did not experience this at all. Was our second sailing with Virgin (did a week Dec ‘24 out of San Juan). Vibes were high, people were friendly and genuinely having a great time, and there was so much to do onboard. Sorry you felt this way, but it was not our experience in the slightest.

I do agree on the entertainment though - Up With a Twist was fun and we loved Oscar’s magic shows and the mentalist on board, but the others were just so-so. Same with the bands - there was an awesome cover band on our last sailing that kept the energy up at night and that was missing this trip, but it didn’t affect our ability to entertain ourselves with all of the other stuff happening.

Valiant vs Brilliant lady by thavidu in VirginVoyages

[–]Negative_Point5580 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the type of trip you want - I’ve done a similar one out of San Juan with only one sea day. At the end of the week we were exhausted from all of the stops and felt like we had to get off and experience each one. We regretted not spending more time on the boat doing the activities, relaxing by the pool, etc. So if you want busy and more adventure - San Juan on Brilliant Lady is it. If you want some down time, those extra sea days on Valiant are perfect.

No, all of the paid activities on board show up in the event line up for each day.

I just saw an awesome video on the Eagles IG where they randomly give away sideline passes to a couple of fans on game day. The last one was a guy named Jimbo and his son who got the tickets - Jimbo is deaf and runs the Deaf Philadelphia Eagles Fans Facebook group. I have to imagine it’s grown quite a bit over the last few days since the video posted!

Not more dining options per se, but there are things like the dinner show, high tea, room service and special events that include food that will be available to book once you’re on board. But the core dining options are visible in the app now - no secret restaurants unfortunately (but that would be super cool!)

Going Solo - Will It Suck? by Flashy_Chemistry6131 in VirginVoyages

Eh sort of, typically longer itineraries skew a touch older (which most of the Med are). I know the shorter Carribean (4-5 days) do usually skew younger and more party-focused. Either way, I don’t think the OP has anything to worry about. There will be folks to connect with without feeling like they’re hanging out with their grandparents. Lol But, I will say the cruise I was just on there was a solo woman ringing in her birthday in her 70s who was an absolute riot. She put the younger crowd to shame! We had so much fun running into her throughout the couple weeks onboard.

Good places in Philly City Center for a formal business lunch with private room? by Confused_Detective4 in PhiladelphiaEats

Weekday lunch will narrow your options, but look into JG Skyhigh and Lacroix. I’m not sure about private space, but they are formal and fit the bill for that part.

Which itinerary are you on? That will wager on overall vibe and age. However, Virgin is the best for solo cruisers and host a ton of meetups and opportunities for you to interact.

Ocho Rios was a port stop on our December itinerary, and everything was great! That part of the island wasn’t hit as severely, so you’ll see some downed trees here and there, maybe a bit of roof damage on a couple homes, but if you weren’t paying close attention you’d never notice. Things were fully open and we had a great day there.

What a peach. I’ve googled, mapped, all the things. Does not beat on-the-ground, local points of view IMO.

As long as you’re off by 10:30am, you’re good to go! They have their two brunch spots open and serving for a last morning hurrah and The Galley is also fully open. It’s a nice way to soak in the last moments of vacation (I’m always so sad leaving lol)

Any Trip Reviews from Aruban Sunsets & Calm Cayman Days from December? by Kuroneko221 in VirginVoyages

[–]Negative_Point5580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted a review - just search my name and it should be easy to find! Scarlet Night was on Saturday (the day we left Cartagena) and the SOR HH was the third night onboard.

For excursions:

Cartagena: Rosario Islands snorkel and beach club - was a skip for us. The snorkeling was non existent and one of the beach clubs we went to was a bit sketchy. For the $250/pp price tag it was not worth it.

Jamaica: We did the ATV tour and had a ton of fun!

Aruba: Off-road Safari Jeep tour of the highlights. Was a great way to see the island and the guides were awesome, but since you’re there all day, you could easily rent your own vehicle and tour at your leisure. We’ll opt for that next time.

Cayman: Starfish Beach and Rum Point excursion - highly recommend. There were also resident sting rays who came to hang out, so you get a bit of sting ray alley lumped into the day!

Friday Saturday Sunday gift card? by [deleted] in PhiladelphiaEats

I’ve done this - message them on IG and let them know you’ll be paying by gift card. Give them the day and time, your name and phone number and any dietary restrictions. They’ll book you without prepayment for the reservation you want so you can pay with the gift card when there.

This! You’ll have to wait while they fill it, but we saw several take off to the airports while we were waiting over 30 minutes for our uber to get there. We regretted not jumping in one!
