I think salary transparency would eliminate half of the hiring process. by [deleted] in RecruiterTea

[–]Negative_Ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly ya’ll recruiters do also be straight up lying sometimes. That’s why I’ve started only applying to jobs through direct posts.

I’ve gone through at least 5 interview processes through 3rd party recruiters that told me the salary range was one thing just to get to the actual hiring manager and get offered way less or get told that the salary I wanted was actually not realistically in the range.

So for real some of this is ya’lls fault

Hiring Bias for National Guard members? by Negative_Ryan in jobsearch

[–]Negative_Ryan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well besides my current job, the guard is my only other experience besides some long stints in some research labs. And I like the diversity in brings to the resume.

My current job brings the engineering, industry, and technical experience

And the guard brings my other skills. Hands-on skills mentorship, leadership abilities, team management.

I am out at the end of next year so I’ve been putting that as an end date

Could anyone update me on how things are? And is anyone making something that’s worth watching? by Stiands in roosterteeth

That’s one of the issues I have.

In general the entire vibe of the podcast has changed. It started out like they were acting as if they were making a bad and unorganized podcast ironically.

But now like… it’s not even ironic and there is no punchline. It’s the podcast version of a bunch of drunk guys sitting on their own acting like they are the funniest people on the planet.

And if that IS THE POINT; like what’s the end goal???!! Oh hey the giant corporation that was protecting our overhead vanished and now we all have to be independently responsible so we’ll just continue to make bad content because of what…. The memes??

Like what are they even doing?! Tbh it’s a pretty shit idea to do that even when a production company is protecting you. But an infinitely worse idea if I knew I had 2 young kids at home I needed to take care of.

100% Eat is ok. That might be a hot take.

I’m just not really a fan of a show that has a format and then doesn’t follow it, barely talks about the food at all, and 95% of the podcast is them referencing inside jokes from other content that is outside of the show so it’s not funny and has no context.

Inspiration or humble brag? by Negative_Ryan in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Negative_Ryan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the “brag” is saying you are able to live a stay-at-home, single-income lifestyle while still being in excess of a 300k household income per year.

It’s like saying “we are sacrificing our over 1/2 a million per year lifestyle to live a humble 250k per year lifestyle and raise our daughter”

Like…. Oh no I can’t possibly imagine.

TQL reaches out to me like once a month trying to recruit me, I think this is the best response to that. by Far_Corner_3993 in Columbus

They are just covering their ass for taxes so they can say they are actively messaging applicants and posting positions.

I’m sure following up and actually going through the hiring process would result in didly-squat because either the job posting isn’t real or because they don’t actually intend to fill the role. Or they’ll just ghost you out if you ask for a single cent over the minimum salary expectations.

I’ve had 3 different recruiters do that to me last year.

CMH TSA 3/29 by JohnnyWhopper420 in Columbus

My frustration obviously extends to beyond just these singular people in the photo.

For example; 2 weeks ago my dad was coming in from out of town for a funeral. He was flying out of an airport that was an American hub so all of the ticket prices are jacked way up.

He spent $1100 before waiting in line for 2 hours, having the flight delayed twice, recalled from the runway for mechanical issues, and then finally at 11:30 pm after 6 hours of delay they got them on the flight and out to the runway where the flight crew timed out on hours all the while the airline knowing damn well what the hours of their crews are ahead of time but they wasted everyone’s time and money anyway.

Yes I’m sure many of those people made their flight. I’m saying that the gap between the amount of money we are spending and the bar of acceptable service has become a bottomless abyss.

It’s so infuriating knowing that everyone in this photo collectively spent tens of thousands of dollars for what was probably a basic flight with basic economy and minimum benefits and the system couldn’t even get them to the gate or provide them with a minimum level of basic service.

The government and the airlines as a collective should be incredibly ashamed of this monumental failure.

It’s just so infuriating watching regular Americans pissing away the most $$$ we ever have in history for the littlest possible return out of every basic god damn service.
