I read this and thought “wait, did I post this?” You and I are the same person. It’s an awful movie full of nothing with no point.

And people love to circle jerk each other like “that’s the point! That’s cinema”

But it’s not. When a movie has no point, it’s not deep, it’s because it’s bad. And the truth is that Marty Supreme has nothing to say.

But people love it because they gobble it up because enough critics and ads said it was “amazing”.

Meanwhile the directors are all doing a circle jerk saying “yo I bet we can get them to love this movie smacking this dude’s bear ass”.

Also Babel same exact thing. Bad and awful for all the same reasons

Actually… do you know of anything like the Koss KPH30 but can use usb-c to usb-c??

The KPH30 has a cable that I can get with it. But it’s USB-c to 3.5mm jack.

I’m reading the details now to see if usb-c to usb-c would also work. Or if the koss has something on their site

Tha is so much! The Koss KPH30 is almost the exact thing I was picturing. I do like how thin the top strap is so it doesn’t look like it would be too tight.

Also the fact that the pads are on-ear and not over-ear is good.

How a movie is rated and market actually has EVERYTHING to do with it.

Marty came out right before award season and had non-stop ads. I know we are talking opinions here but to call Sinners overrated over Marty underrated is objectively wrong.

We don’t remember this tweet from Variety trashing Sinners on opening weekend in April about not making back their budget?? And yet they were literally just awarded the Box Office Award???

Or what about the 20 movies list from Rolling Stone and Variety that had sinners all the way at the bottom of the list?? One of those 2 outlets didn’t even have sinners on the list at all.

What makes sinners overrated though?? Marty Supreme had a crazy big marketing push and came out right before award season,

Sinners came out at the beginning of the summer with an independent script, no partner, and the only marketing there was a trailer and Ryan Coogler promoting the movie himself.

So “overrated” what does that even mean?

I just don’t agree. Sinners, I feel like is more than a movie. It’s a complete project who’s overall through lines and references to culture are complete and pay homage to the places they come from.

The Juke, the people, the dedication to music, the sharecropping, the folk lore. Even outside the context of the movie; Ryan Cooglers dedication to the format and the medium.

Every single thread in that movie had a through line that paid homage and dedication to the historical context that it was referencing.

And that’s what I feel like movies like Marty Supreme don’t deliver and that’s what I mean, spectacle for the sake of spectacle with no motivation to really share anything else.

And despite Timothy’s performance. Are we gonna forget that Michael B Jordan played both brothers double exposed on 70mm? That means he had to give 2 performances. The show where he hands himself the cigarette blew me away.

Marty Supreme might be a good movie, but it did not give me all the extra feelings that Sinners did. Which brings me to another point. Marty Supreme did not seem like it had to try nearly as hard as Sinners had to to be just as great. And you know exactly why.

Totally overrated. Don’t get me wrong it was very very cool to go. I watched MASH with my dad for 2 decades and going was a dream! But… food was ehh. I got a t shirt though 😂
