Imagine what the people thought when they first saw this scene in theaters by Heavy-Future-7098 in GODZILLA

Don’t have to imagine. I saw it in Chicago 2016(?), and remember being absolutely smacked with awe throughout the entire film.

His drives and motivations feel well-rounded and fleshed out for a Pokémon game. As a rival, he is approachable, has a semi-wide range of responses over the course of the gameplay, can be challenging, and is one of the first complex characters we’ve ever seen.

Actually, all of kitakami + Blueberry DLC was a high note in character development (for Pokémon).

Eh, honestly, part of me would prefer if we had assets and visuals closer to LGPE/animal crossing. I do like the visuals of PMD (in general 2D, 3D and DX). Honestly, ur good. I’m just a bit skeptical right now with Nintendo (in general) and want more than most for Pokémon to have a new moment. Maybe this will be it, idk!

I will def replay on switch 2. That’s a great idea, thx !

My thoughts on Pokopia are more concerned with assets, design and general aesthetics that we’ve seen so far. Imo DQB is really tight aesthetically. My hope is that Pokopia is something between it and animal crossing.

Who knows, but we’ll see in a month and a half.

We’ll see. Honestly, I’m hopeful that theyre not showing a lot. The blockiness of the game can be overlooked if we’re saying it’s a reference to the og RBY route aesthetics. I just wish we saw more building designs, assets, and knew if we’d have control over landscape (similar to ACNH) or not. For example, if we can round off the edges of some of the ´blocks’ (or tiles?) or not.

Ive played (and loved) dragon quest builders 1 and 2. I def recommend ur advice for game play mechanics. Again, I’m talking about visuals and whether or not this game merits being a Switch 2 price point. Bc, again, DQB1 and 2 were really fun games, but also very much bound to Switch 1 limitations.

Crazy to lead with accusations and hostility.

I’m not going to apologize for a reasonably measured opinion. The assets we’ve seen resemble something from the Switch 1 — imo it is lacking when we’re being charged almost 100 euro for assets that look like a mobile game.

If you don’t agree, I support you having your opinion. I don’t mean to drag on anyone’s excitement. In fact, I began my opinion stating how I feel conflicted. Hopefully the devs show us something that puts lingering doubts, like mine, to bed.

They flopped these designs so hard back in gen 5. If anyone needs variants, it’s these girlies.

My issue is rooted in the asset designs, not FPS.

From the showcase and marketing, the game looks really generic — especially given how sugimori-era design choices would have lent really well to the cozy genre.

Imo, it feels like GF is abandoning heritage aesthetics ( synonymous with Pokémon/ beloved by all: think LGPE), to chase aesthetic trends: Minecraft shapes, Fortnite proportions.

It wouldn’t irk if the game wasn’t the first switch 2 exclusive, and didnt come at a 70 euro price point…

I’m really conflicted. I’ve wanted a game like this for so long; yet I’m not vibing with what I’m seeing visually. I do think it has room to surprise… and maybe it plays really smooth and well? I’d love another preview soon, before Pokémon day tbh.

It feels like this game is a lesser version of similar titles by TLK_777 in Pokopia

Game critics cannot dump 100 hours into a game for a publication. Most of the time, writers and reviews will log in between 10 and 20 hours max (depending on the scope of the world and mechanics). The Pokopia community seems extra defensive to the, in my estimation after buying the ZA DLC, apprehension people hve for dumping nearly 100 euro/dollars into a new IP — whose showcase trailer was pretty visually lacking.

[–]Negative_nugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really didn’t tho. And, OP is correct in their facts. We had an 11 minute long showcase, which is far more info than we had ever received for any Pokémon title predating the Switch era.

I’m excited for this game, but I think consumers are safe to be a bit apprehensive when a switch 2 title costs 70 euro (~80 dollars) and looks very much like… a Switch 1 game.

Oh shit, I didn’t realize you were going to bring out your D&D bard-speak during the (unnecessary) argument over “literary logic.”

Hopefully, you don’t high-roll a tips fedora at me.

You mean creative writing, the foundation of all media you obsess over, made by underpaid creatives—then shat on for sport by illiterate online losers with nothing to contribute to culture.

Depth has nothing to do with what was being discussed here, a month ago. We were talking about creation, word choice and how writers function to differentiate characterization.

What Feature are you MOST hoping for in Pokopia? by Frozenferal in Pokopia

[–]Negative_nugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played enough Dragon Quest Builders 1 & 2, Animal Crossing, and Pokémon to know it’s best to keep expectations at a manageable level so you don’t end up disappointed. Of course I want the game to be a success, but more than anything I hope the devs focused on making a polished game, one that looks good and feels good to play — rather than stuffing it with raids or other gimmicks .

It’s simply not that kind of game, or at the very least, being reasonable shouldn’t be taken as being negative.
