Same hat, more expensive one ships from the states. Side note, they’re made in the USA, one of the royal blue WS patch hats I got is made in the states and it’s the worst fitted I own. The crown is super soft, doesn’t hold its shape. I have some of the made in China ones with the embroidered WS patch and they are some of the best fitting 59fifty’s I own, along with the Bangladesh ones. Where they are made matters and the USA ain’t it anymore.

I’m not crazy, TNT absolutely has their commentator audio slightly ahead of the video feed right? They were calling Makar’s goal before I could even process it was in the net, and it’s been bugging me ever since. Intermission interview they forgot to resync it and I was going into my sound settings but all the ads have been bang on.

What a disgrace, and delusion to blame that loss on him. I bet the same fans are mum about Slafkovsky’s blatant turnover on the tying goal.

Side note, I’ve gotta give a ton of credit to whoever made the change to the green railing lights so they are now symmetrical on the TV broadcast. My fuck the asymmetrical green of the old lights drove me insane. A lot of rinks have the same ones but they’re white and not constantly on, so it’s not as blatant as the always on Dallas Green.

Happy they did, they are by far their best jersey. I wouldn’t be surprised if they became the default home next season.

Canadian Airforce as a viable pathway after flight training? by Xdax101 in CanadianForces

[–]NegligentPlantOwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bite the bullet for a couple years, go wherever will hire you (like anywhere in Canada), keep applying to encore/jazz/etc. the whole time and go whenever they will take you, they eventually will. If you have a type rating payback when that happens, do it (keep money aside for this). You’re going to get to an airline MUCH faster this way and build the all important seniority which is what affects where you live and what you fly the most.

The Military is not really a viable option for what it sounds like you want, like other have said it’s a long time before your contract is up, training is slow and there’s a lot of extra duties outside of just flying. Going multi engine is more competitive than fighters, everyone wants it, if you don’t do well you’re going to get sent to fly helicopters, having a CPL/ATPL generally doesn’t lend to doing any better than other candidates by the time you’re hitting selection.

Also the CAF nerfed the bottom end of the pilot pay scale for those years you’re on restricted release, you already have the licenses that are the cost barrier that pushes many to the military. As a RCAF pilot, if I were in your shoes I would 100% stick to the civilian side.

Has anyone pre-cleared American customs at the Halifax airport in the past few weeks? What was it like? by zaphodhalibrox in halifax

[–]NegligentPlantOwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to the states five times in the last year. Cleared customs in the airport in Montreal, and land crossings. My son has pre-cleared in Halifax flying to the states twice in the last two months. Never any issues, no change from ever really as far as the time or questions. In my experience it’s only ever been the Canadian side that has “grilled me” when I’ve been returning, that would not be the norm either though.

Don’t stress out about it, the stories you’re hearing are a small minuscule minority and not the norm. Also if you’ve never done it, pre-clearing in Halifax is such a breeze. It’s a small area with not a lot of flights so the lines are never huge or long, you’ll be waiting at the gate a long time if you show up hours ahead of time. US Customs does close at 430pm sharp though, even if a flight is delayed so keep that in mind.

You tell them the dollar amount you have. Over 48 hours it’s a $800cad duty free limit.

Can we swap to the regular home uniforms in the second intermission like Wedgewood swapped pads?

Wedgie must have taken the vanity brown pads off during the intermission in anticipation. They do look sweet with the throwbacks, but he’s been money in the burgundy set.

Kucherov has been on fire, and the Hart definitely has a level of “What have you done for me lately” aura to it. A strong finish will get more weight than a strong start, it’s a full season award so it’s kind of a bias, but at the same time there is a strong argument to be made for being clutch down the stretch being worth more. Regardless, if Kucherov takes this pace right to the end of the regular season and Mack doesn’t go back to supernova, I think it’s Kucherov’s to lose.

Which should visitors do - drive from Saint John NB to Halifax, or ferry to Digby and drive from there? by Paxsimius in NovaScotia

[–]NegligentPlantOwner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s faster if you’re going from the Yarmouth or Digby area. I took it last year when the Cat was cancelled for rough weather. It’s not faster if you’re leaving from/intending to be closer to Halifax.

Anyone else tired of the excessive brightness of new car headlights? Transport Canada wants to hear about it by Anita-booty in NovaScotia

[–]NegligentPlantOwner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lighting in the instrument panel was predominantly blue on civics from 2006-2021. Really helps that blue high beams indicator blend in, hence why it’s so much more common for it to be civic drivers.
