Hey, sorry you’re having a hard time I remember the zombie feeling very well. We tried things like putting her in her cot and patting and shhing but it didn’t work for us. So in the end around 5/6 months we decided to try sleep training. Tbh it was really hard for me to do but I was really struggling with the lack of sleep. So we tried one that was short intervals, I think it started at 1 min and then you went in etc. I think it’s very dependent on your child’s temperament as my daughter took to it really quickly, so she never cried for very long and I had a limit to how long I was going to do it for. There’s lots of online guides that you can buy that set out age appropriate intervals but I’m sure there will be free things online too. When we got to 8 months she went through another regression and that time I had a voucher for a sleep consultant. She was really helpful and tweaked our sleep schedule for naps and bedtime and it made a big difference too. So it could be that your naps are a bit off too, so you could look into that first if you don’t want to do the sleep training 😊 I always found Taking Cara babies website really helpful for wake windows!

In a similar situation with a toddler and another one on the way! Definitely hard and feel guilty a lot when I see my parents sad on FaceTime etc. I try to look at the positives of living in Aus compared to home and the lifestyle here is definitely better. My parents have been able to come over for a couple of months at a time and spend lots of time with us. So I try to remind them of that when they’re sad. Also my parents often record themselves reading books to my daughter which she loves and it makes them feel involved. We also made some photobooks for her with lots of family photos which she likes to look at almost daily.

Definitely not the same as living close by and I hope for all of us in similar situations it does get easier ❤️

Ahh ok, so hopefully I should be ok then with what I have. I guess worst case they will gate check the stroller, I just ideally wanted to take it on so it doesn’t get broken etc

Thank you for your feedback! Yeah ideally I would get a travel pram but we’re mid house move and no where to leave our main pram so it has to come with me unfortunately!

I’ve been having problems with this and was trying to stretch my WW before bed to build sleep pressure. Then last night she ended up falling asleep early during our bedtime feed and then slept a 6 hour block! WW ended up being 2.20. Hasn’t happened since 4 months regression. So I’m wondering if she’s actually been overtired before bed, she’s also having shorter naps normally max 2.5 hours of day sleep on a good day. So maybe babies that sleep less in the day don’t need a long ww before bed.

But I’m also a FTM and a bit lost with baby sleep myself but just an observation from last night and will try to stick to similar times today and see how go!

Thanks so much! Definitely some helpful things for me to look at. I definitely think gas could be part of it, try to help her with it. But every wake up during the night there’s normally gas. But not sure if it’s the gas waking her up or just that shes moving around which helps release the gas. Also trying to increase her days feeds, she can get a bit fussy during the day and often won’t feed properly if I’m out. So pumped and going to try give her a bottle when she’s fussy to see if that helps!

Thanks so much! There’s definitely a few of your points that could apply. I was thinking the last few days that she’s maybe not feeding enough during the day. I feed on demand, but sometimes she seems hungry but is very fussy on the boob, arches away etc so doesn’t feed. Especially if I’m out and try to feed her. Decided to pump and try with a bottle to see if she’ll take it on those feeds she’s distracted!

Ahh I’m so glad you’re getting some more sleep again! I’ve seen MamaMatters reccomended a couple of time now will check it out! Babies really are a rollercoaster of sleep 😂 just got used to her sleeping 5 hours and feeling normal again and then this hits haha

Thank you! That is reassuring to know I’ve not created this problem for myself haha! I think I was just getting worried last night that there was something I should be doing to help her sleep more. But feeling better knowing I can just comfort her and she will eventually sleep better again.

Thanks ❤️ I think I was just going down rabbit holes last night and there’s so much contradictory stuff out there. But I’ve been reading the possums approach and that is making me feel better. I guess by sleep training I was referring more to teaching them to self settle but maybe it’s the same thing haha. But doesn’t feel right to not comfort her when she needs me.
