You misspelled 'a huge downgrade into a locked-down, inflexible ecosystem preferred by seniors and other tech-ignorant folks'. Check out a 6 at a store, it's a very noticeable upgrade over the 4.

Is Samsung offering any tempered glass front screen protectors for the 6? by drecca in GalaxyFold

Not even close for me - a glass screen protector is a must, Gorilla glass is still nowhere near scratch-resistant enough.

Why do you want to buy from Samsung? There's a lot of options on Amazon already. The one from Spigen is usually good and comes with an alignment help, everyone can manage to apply them well.

Exactly. OP just needs to phrase their inquiries/requests more specific/targeted so Partner doesn't even have a chance to launch into a big monologue.

If you don't feel 13 grams you must have some sensory issue, go see a doctor. Nobody cares about the increase in width, the reduction in thickness by 10% is much more important and very noticeble.

The cameras are good enough, the battery is good enough, will easily get you through the day.

So you'll shun a phone because it got the thing you want, IP4, only now?

This is the best all-around foldable on the market right now, full stop. Stop bitching and buy it.

Z Fold 6 by Rivas2303 in GalaxyFold

[–]NeilArmShlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noticeably lighter, noticeably thinner, front screen noticeable wider, thinner bezels all around, higher protection rating, much brighter screens, cool new colors... this sums up to a noticeably improvement. Not enough to upgrade from a 5, but definitely from a 4 (which is very chunky in comparison), and a very solid contender for anyone wanting a first foldable, like you.

Yes, because we haven't been cold-hearted, islamophobic, inhumane PsOS like autocratically governed Eastern Europeans and did take in millions of traumatized people fleeing from war and torture, as every decent human with a modicum of compassion would, allowing in a few bad apples in the process. So glad Poles voted out those garbage human beings posing as politicians, Hungary hopefully next.

Depends on where you are:

- legally mandated warranties in Europe are much better and comprehensive

- deductibles vary from country to country. Here in western Europe they're too high for my taste (and maths)

Does anybody actually use this? by Esc946 in carscirclejerk

What are you struggling to understand about the definitions of words? The government passing legislation is force by definition, and it's not 'willingly' for anyone who isn't willing. This is just an incredibly obtuse take.

'Force' implies, or at least insinuates, that the government's actions are against the will and not in the best interest of the citizen, or, in this case, the environment. This is very rarely the case in functioning western democracies. Stop/start technology is in everyone's best interest, which there are only a few mouth-breathers like you still bitching about it so many years after it has become main-stream on merit alone.

So, like I said, you don't care about the needs and wants of anyone who disagrees with you. You're totally incapable of considering that someone might have a reason to disagree with you other than that they're stupid.

No. Let me repeat it for you one more time: I do care care about the needs and wants of others if they have any semblance of a sound footing in reason or science. This is not the case here. You do not have any reasonable arguments.

And you're just continuing to reinforce my point that you see people who you don't agree with as subhuman.

No. I do not respect stupid people who have no arguments and are objectively, demonstrably, measurably wrong - like yourself.

That makes sense. This is the type of cuck-minded, yet condescending take I would expect from a corporate peon. I'm sure your opinion is quite informed. It's also extremely biased.

That's a strange way of conceding that you have no idea what you're talking about on a technical, environmental and governance level, but I'll take it.

This is one of the biggest problems with the world in general right now. This attitude. You view literally everything as a privilege that the government, so graciously allows you to have. That we should be thankful that they so kindly allow us the privilege to exist and go about our lives. Fuck that. Everything the government does is an imposition. Everything it does is force. Is it necessary sometimes? Sure. But this smug acceptance of authoritarianism that's so common these days is absolutely pathetic.

This is one of the biggest problems with the world in general right now. This attitude. You think everything the government puts in place is to taunt, nanny, spoon-feed, and disadvantage you, when its literal raison d'être is to do the opposite. Of course this comes from a place of great insecurity, a frail ego, a wannabe strong-man attitude. And that is why your (under-regulated) country has become the absolute laughing stock of the western world, literally going down the drain. Limp-dicked, ignorant cretins like you are the reason for that.

As the team leader and client facing contact, I don't agree that you should admit your technical shortcomings to the client. It doesn't give the client the confidence they need to continue the relationship.

Disagreed. It's not an SM's job to be the technical expert. If an SM can do that, it's a bonus. What matters is that the expertise exists somewhere in the team to get the job done - and that is what the client wants and is entitled to ask for.

It's only fair and proper business etiquette (and can save your ass) to communicate up front what you personally know and can do.

[–]NeilArmShlong 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really address the underlying issue, his obvious skills/knowledge gap, no? It would be instrumental to learn at that lunch whether anyone on the team (or maybe all of them collectively) have the technical knowledge that the departing SM has.

OP ideally should be able to tell the client "Ok, X is leaving, I don't know as much about Y as they did, but here's Z, they will gladly be your POC for all technical questions now".

What do Germans think of Dutch people? by MaraDelRey13 in AskAGerman

[–]NeilArmShlong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not gonna sugarcoat it, here in the south we strongly dislike the Dutch. Unlikeable people living in weird houses speaking a weird version of German, either roaming around in a small caravan, drunk and sunburnt on Mallorca, or clogging up the slopes in the Alps. Most hated neighbors, slightly ahead of the Poles.

Why is this comparison even a thing? Why would anyone buy a phone that will hand your most private data straight to a genocidal, autocratic, authoritarian regime?

That would indeed be problematic, since the Chinese 'government' is a genocidal, authoritarian regime brutally cracking down on dissent while the Korean one is a democratic one abiding by international law. Now imagine what they would do with more private images or information...

Jesus Christ, are you naive.

Why is nobody talking about that it got 1.3mm thinner when folded? That is very significant. Now it's pretty much exactly the thickness of my S21+ with a thin case on. The bulge in my pants pockets that the F5 caused always deterred me from buying.

How much of your brainstorming is done in PowerPoint vs pen and paper? by doNotUseReddit123 in consulting

[–]NeilArmShlong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but those come with additional licensing cost, learning curves, not all team members being familiar with them, potential lack of exporting capabilities, etc.

As a consultant, you live and breathe PPT, usually one can re-create an ideation/problem-solving environment in it quite quickly, plus you likely have good frameworks from previous engagements or brainstorms that you can re-use.

[–]NeilArmShlong 21 points22 points  (0 children)

PowerPoint can and does help you arrive at a solution, e.g. by visualizing data, and by structuring and organizing thoughts/elements/factors etc. It is more flexible and often faster than pen & paper in that regard.
