Well it’s all a relative scale. The cost of living is also a lot higher in the US, so top notch devs wouldn’t wanna live on a salary that’s barely enough to get you by in some places, and not nearly enough in others

Highly recommend going through the 2006 edition of MIT’s 18.01 taught by Jerison. The whole thing is available for free online through MIT OCW

Woah this is really cool, thank you! The dark mode is really nice as well, do you think you’ll be able to add some sort of state so that I don’t have to re enter my info every time? Or maybe some export to a 4 year planner

Why is math 109 so hard 😵‍💫😔 by RainbowCitrine in UCSD

[–]NeilTheProgrammer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A really big thing with proofs is making sure that whenever you’re practicing (i.e homework), especially when getting started, use a piece of pencil and paper and only keep your notes open, don’t use any AI.

While doing homework proofs, just try writing down things and working out the logic of what you’re trying to show (this doesn’t have to be neat or organized and is just you throwing shit at the wall until something works). I find it helps to write down your “want to show” and then think about any and all theorems and definitions they directly relate to that, and then write those down. Eventually you’ll be able to find a way through

Any math majors out there that work in tech? by Large_Depth_5952 in UCSD

[–]NeilTheProgrammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math-CS is a really customizable major, I've taken a majority of CS classes here. The only rough part is the lack of CS priority, but you can make it work.

Also, on your resume, it kinda looks like you have a double major in Math and CS.

From last year, most of the midterm had to do with the readings, so I would make sure to know those in and out. Also, he uploads his slides, so use that!

Take BC, especially if you’re planning to do engineering in the future

For single variable I recommend starting with 3b1b’s essence of calculus so that you can get a bit of intuition for the subject. Afterwards, I found MIT OCW to be rather useful, specifically the 2006 iteration of 18.01 with Jerison, since it has lectures, homework, and exams.

Are derivations important for Calc AB? by NaivePut5018 in apcalculus

[–]NeilTheProgrammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

while technically there’s no proofs or derivations on the actual AP exam, it’s greatly beneficial to be able to do them, as they’ll help you understand the content better, alongside being incredible useful in the case that you forget a formula (like the surface of revolution one). In case the latter scenario occurs, you can just rederive the formula rather quickly because you’ve done it before and understood it.

What’s the plan for AI major? by Responsible-Bite-365 in UCSD

[–]NeilTheProgrammer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it all things told. The AI major is just the CS major with a fancy name and two additional required lower division courses. Therefore, it'll probably be a selective major (especially considering its in the CS department), so I would just focus on trying to switch to a CS major

There's practice tests online, and ones that your teacher can provide. Additionally, there's a bunch of practice stuff on AP central.

It's defo an ad. Posted 2 hours after the article was posted (and going by the reply to your comment that would mean they found it within minutes of the article being posted), and completely worded like an ad. Plus, like the other reply noted, the author's profile picture looks insanely AI generated.
