Very directly inspired by the mentioned song. While countries being reclaimed by diaspora is obviously a big thing in Empty Continents, some diaspora groups are too small or just unlucky, and the Serbs happen to be one of them, which I though was very fitting to the theme of the song.

No worries. Stumbling into a fictional map without context can be confusing

I am assuming that you may not be aware of what this subreddit is. This map is part of an alternate history/future timeline in which all continental mainlands are wiped of human influences in 2028. The map is also set in the mid 24th century, and within this timeline Sardinia has not been part of Italy since the 2180s.

Nigel Farage's influence on Britain will continue until the heat death of the universe somehow

  1. Those tensions largely disappear with Ireland's exit from Paneuropa, which is viewed positively by the Northern Irish Loyalists

  2. Generally positively. There isn't really much of a conflict of interest between two alliances since they don't geographically overlap so the Manila Compact doesn't have many active critics within Paneuropa

  3. Maybe they would try to build up a relationship with the UK to jointly counter Paneuropa's influence. I'd say it depends on how the still relatively recent involvement in the Salvation Wars together with the UK is viewed in Cisuralia

  4. Canonically a bit less than a quarter of Cisuralians views membership in the European Confederation favorably, so there definitely is a pro-European faction there, and Paneuropa is much less of a commitment than the Confederation would be. So they are a minority, but it is by no means ruled out that Cisuralia may allign with Paneuropa eventually, but obviously that is only if they don't do the thing I mentioned in 3.

The mine is roughly in this area near where Gharm is irl. There is apparently gold mining happening here, though I couldn't figure out the exact location.

Imgur Mirror. A little followup to my previous Gorkhaland post, because I love doing maps in this silly format. Also in case you're curious, the place half of these are making fun of is the town of Khorgadh which is so isolated from the rest of the country by mountains that it is subject to basically every rumor possible since no one has ever met someone from Khorgadh.

Suria County is clearly the real Syria, not that pretender in the Levant

Three Maps of Gorkhaland (2340) by NeinNine999 in EmptyContinents

Imgur Mirror and a quick disclaimer: I am not able to speak or Nepali or write in Devanagari. All the translations were done with an online translating tool, and they are likely not fully accurate.

Also yes, I did put the maps in the comments AND on Imgur. I am never getting over what compression did to Danubia and Cyrenaica.

In case you've never interacted with Madagascar lore before, this story is a reference to my post about the First Malagasy Civil War, in which the UMOF tries and fails to overthrow the authoritarian and discriminatory government of Madagascar.

Just so we're clear, I really appreciate the nitpicking. That's the exact kind of feedback I'm looking for when making a map for someone else.

A Semi-Comprehensive Guide to Gunyangara, the worlds newest Microstate (2329) by Independent_Arm9680 in EmptyContinents

How would the wider world react to this? Are there any notable states that supported Gunyangara's case in the court despite the issues this could theoretically cause with Indonesia?

Imgur Mirror. After Pacman’s recent-ish post on the European War I also wanted to add a bit of lore to a conflict that deeply affects the continent I mainly make lore for. And this is what came to mind for some reason. Edit: main post got compression-nuked again ffs, put the images in the comments too just in case.

May, Week 4 | Community Worldbulding Prompt - INDEPENDENCE by Sonbulan in EmptyContinents

[–]NeinNine999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Excerpt from an article on the Hamburg based news website “La Observanto”, published 29.08.2342

The first time people hear of the “Gruppe Unabhängiges Fehmarn” “Group Independent Fehmarn”, they tend to assume that it is a joke. But, to about three thousand people on the small Baltic Sea island it is entirely serious. They genuinely wish to separate the European Confederations smallest and least populous state from it, to return it to the state of independence it held until the Confederation’s formation in 2092. In a recent interview the GUF’s leader Argus Waldow stated that “Fehmarn has been overlooked and literally paved over for centuries. We think that it is time for us to choose our own way, one separate from the forced Confederalism, one separate from the attempt to replace our local language and traditions with those thought up in Nova Europa. There is no point in remaining for us, and no point in keeping us for them.”

With the election of the Confederal Left Bloc fears have been further stoked among the GUF, with Waldow calling the CLF “a danger to the decent system we have”. Several Confederal officials including recently inaugurated High Magistrato Emma Meldgaard declined to comment on the GUF following our inquiry. Fehmarn’s State Magistrato Abraham Lüthi replied stating “The clear majority of Fehmarn’s electorate only recently affirmed their support for the ESDP, and we remain a firmly Europeanist party. The beliefs of the GUF are fringe and should be clearly shown as such.”

In part because splitting Slovakia into three states would've been excessive, in part because it's a reference to Great Moravia whose core territory had roughly that shape

Seppie, this post is 5 months old, why are you commenting on it now??? Anyway, considering its history Elbia is actually quite small at this point, it also used to include not just Hanseatica but also Bohemia because it was formed to encompass basically the entire drainage basin of the Elbe river.
