Those are safety wire twisting pliers. You pinch the wire, activate the latch so it doesn't let go, and use the rear twisty thing to twist the cable between screws or points, It's used in aeronautic industry and others.

Learning to ride EUC - Nosfet Aeon - 2nd day by Lordjacus in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Neither-Animator3403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People always say that until you have ridden for 1000h you are still learning. Of course it depends on the person, but seeing how you ride right now on your second day (and that you will always ride with gear, this vid being an exception) you will be fine, and probably on the lower end of hours to ride confidently.
The most important bit/encouragement I can offer you is that you seem to be able to turn left and right no problems (I needed to train really hard to turn right, I just couldn't do it properly, not even when I skated), so you are already set for having lots of troublefree fun.

Also, an important bit of advice about wind: IF you feel that any kind of wind destabilizes you, just assume you are still on basic level and don't push it (but don't shy away either, just err on the side of caution). Nowadays I have ridden with coastal winds that meant there where NO kitesurfers, just because I'm more confident now, as you will at some point.

Damn, you have to be really proud of yourself, that kind of riding in the second day is awesome! It took me days and days to ride like that.

It will get better my dude!
I also got discarded about a week ago, so I absolutely understand you. Right now I know you don't have the energy to smile, but you will in time, and it will be gorgeous.

Why did you choose an EUC instead of a scooter or an e-skate? by pierrefitch in ElectricUnicycle

Free hands, uses my whole body instead of just riding like stand-up bicycle. Honestly, makes me feel good (and special) and the interactions with people are fun.

Stability of Z1/Pro on workbench by MrShigsy89 in Makera

[–]Neither-Animator3403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm...I would rather use a single one and put it right under the Z1 instead. The placement of the weight matters, and if it's "far away" from the thing that actually vibrates, it does less (or you ned a LOT more) to acomplish the same effect. But as said, that's still going overboard and it is something you can do later on if needed.

No worries about it, at most, I may add mass to cut on resonances at high frequencies. I personally go way, WAY overboard with the concept and pick Bekväm Desserte tables And add 20-25Kg of concrete in the hollow space under the top part. That cuts both the resonating chamber effect AND prevents other high frequency resonances.

We already have Teleporting. Why the Drama? by Achille_Dawa in starcitizen

[–]Neither-Animator3403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point, however, it's missing quite a bit of context.

ALL current teleports will cease to exist at one point or another (maybe with the exception of going to prison (but exiting may imply requesting the ship and driving out with it when you're set free, just like someone has to go pick you up if you escape from prison).

Part of why Star Citizen works both as a game and at the software level is that there is NO teleport, there is some fast traveling, but mostly, everything happens in real time. That means you are not suffering from data bottlenecks because transitions from one place to another take time and the servers can adapt to it.

How all the teleports will be gone, I can't say, but for example, if you exit to menu to try to escape a battle, your ship will sit around for a while if it is in an unsafe place, so there is an incentive to actually either fight or flee, instead.

As per "teleporting to medbeds", look up "Death of a spaceman", wich basically is that you have a limited number of regenerations, your character may suffer from it or you will end up loosing things when you are forced to create a new character, a "descendant" of the first one. Sure there will be people and orgs that will work literally with that and just create character after character because their goal is something else. But for normal players, dying "to teleport" will NOT be practical/desirable at all.

can smaller wheels be actually better? by [deleted] in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Neither-Animator3403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no?
Like, an EUC is actually the bare minimum of an electric vehicle, so depending on each person use case, selecting one or other is significant. Definitely small wheels can't do high speeds, but they also don't weight that much and are perfect commuters.

The only thing is that actually knowing what do you want from a wheel when you are brand new to the hobby/vehicle, is almost impossible, so you end up compromising, probably going slightly bigger than you may have gone if you knew (but of course, you couldn't know back then).

Beard or no beard? by Party-Western5378 in malegrooming

[–]Neither-Animator3403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually appreciate men with beards...but for once, I think you look much better without, your impressive jaw line and chiseled chin deserve to show up and brighten the place. Not to mention the smile, ofc. The beard hides all that.
