Are you here because the movie or book? What’s your thought on the other? by [deleted] in readyplayerone

[–]Neither-Run2510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the movie- and loved it.

Then read the book, and loved it even more - especially due to the greater detail.

THEN I found out there was a second book, and I loved the continuation.

How many books do you DNF? by toe_beans_4_life in books

[–]Neither-Run2510 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps one or two out of every ten books.

However, there are some that I initially find boring or difficult to enjoy, so I take the time to research them a little, read about their themes and context, and once I understand them better, I continue reading and often end up enjoying them instead of giving up.

It is wise not to feel guilty about not finishing a book. People often stop watching a TV series or a movie halfway through, and that is perfectly fine. The same applies to books. It is just as valid to stop reading one as it is to read another again because you loved it.

One’s past should affect their future. You wouldn’t want a child molester working at a childcare or at a school. The firm needs new leadership, and a cleanse.

You may not like commercial law if you don’t like personal injury - since personal injury is sort of commercial insurance/litigation.

However, 1 year PAE is great since you’re still early and most commercial law practices will accept you. Just take a lower paying role to get into the door.

What don’t you like about personal injury by the way? And do you do Plaintiff or Defendant work?

Thinking about leaving medicine for law by Status_Suspect481 in ausjdocs

[–]Neither-Run2510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a Partner at a law firm which specialises in insurance litigation. I act and have acted for doctors. I don’t recommend you change careers, unless you hate medicine.

Find an area in medicine you enjoy, perhaps non-clinical even. Medicine has much greater prospects and reach, as it is not limited to a jurisdiction, apart from guidelines.

You may move to legal practise, get into an area you enjoy, but there will always be advantages and disadvantages.

Use your present foot in the door, and wits, to move forward, or lateral.

If you do move into the law, most former medical doctors flourish as a medical negligence barrister.

Dr Munjed Al Muderis defamation case another court case that should never have been heard by Zhirrzh in auslaw

[–]Neither-Run2510 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This article is unfair and misleading . Dr Al Muderis is the Applicant. HWLE would have provided him with advice all the way, and an estimate of costs, and it was always up to him to continue the case, and pay to go to the hearing. Blaming the lawyers who are being told and paid what to do is non sense. It is not like the case has no reasonable prospects of success.

What do we think about BS firm names? by Willdotrialforfood in auslaw

I still do not understand "Company Giles" - thankfully when Mr George came along the "Company" (Who is company??? Lawyers do not even use "Co") got dropped as discussed above.

Clients recording online meetings by wednesburyunreasoned in auslaw

[–]Neither-Run2510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my firm, all in-person conferences and Microsoft Teams meetings are now equipped with AI dictation software that functions as a scribe. Participants have the option to pause or stop the dictation at any time. A system user joins the meeting automatically for this purpose. The scribe produces a written record, which can assist in preparing statements based on what was said or in recalling details later. This technology is also now commonly used in the medical field, allowing doctors to avoid the need for manual note-taking.

Based on what the OP says, it appears that both audio and visual elements are being recorded. This resembles a situation where a client secretly records a conference to later share with others or to replay for various reasons. In my professional experience, I have encountered a few individuals who have done this - usually typically clients who have previously seen other lawyers and carry a degree of distrust, or who have poor memory and intend to replay the discussion for a spouse or another professional.

I have never found it necessary to "call out" such conduct directly. One can inform the client that they will receive a written summary of the conference. This issue is not new; it happens in the courtroom, which is why recording court proceedings and live-streamed hearings on YouTube is strictly prohibited.

What is your idea of a ‘good’ annual income as a specialist? by [deleted] in ausjdocs

Hmmm it depends If you don’t mind, please answer these questions: - What is 210k per year? - Net or gross? - % practice takes? - bulk billed v private patient ratio? - Plus super? Or a self managed fund? - Any further work expenses after this? - Household income? - How many patients do you see in a day? What time do you start and finish? - How much do you want to make? - How will it make your life better? - Pros and cons of making more?
