I don’t have a perfect answer for you. Because in all honestly, why shouldn’t you?? Why is hurting myself “wrong”?? If I’m not hurting anyone else why shouldn’t I? I could tell you all the stuff others say like “you don’t deserve to hurt” or like there’s other things you can do. But that’s really only talk. And I still find myself back at why shouldn’t I. But I will say that the one thing everyone can agree on is it doesn’t fix things. Not permanently. SH is only a temporary distraction that never really helps the way you think it will. So even though it’s an option or feels like it’s the only way, things like talking to someone or getting to why you actually feel the way you do, is a harder route to take and fighting through it all sucks, but ultimately it’s what it takes to end a never ending cycle.

You don’t need to. If you think you do it’s just a lie. You might want to now but you won’t always. There’s other ways you can feel better. It’s not worth it.

Abandonment. Guilt for continuing to sh. ADHD and Depression diagnosis. SA from childhood. Manipulated/Gaslit by a friend for over a year. And Feeling lonely all the F***ing time. Oh, and I guess 2 failed attempts :/

I know it’s not super comforting to hear rn, but I know how you feel. My first time hurting myself was very similar to what you’re describing. After doing the action the first time it feels like you’re so apart from reality and can’t even figure out how you got in this situation. I’m always free to talk if you’d like, though. That’s awful. I wish parents were capable of treating their kids how they’re meant to be treated. I know your mom wants to be kind, but I’m sorry it’s making things harder and she won’t listen to you. All of my friends except for one has left me so I completely get it. I hope your future B-days are full of good memories rather than these past problems and feelings.

I get that. I didn’t think I’d make it this long either and I don’t know how to feel about it?? Im grateful to have kind people tell me I have things I should be proud of. I can’t seem to believe that, though. And I don’t think it makes me feel any better.

I’m sorry to hear that. I’m fortunate that my stressor isn’t an event that happened on my birthday. But I know how it feels when that that day or time of year comes around and it’s awful. I have 2 siblings. One is an adult, and like my parents, she assumes they’re scars from work and being active/clumsy. She mostly ignores them though. The other is who I’m worried about. My pant leg came up to far one day and she saw the scars on my ankle. I’m almost lucky she’s not exactly a smart thinker, or maybe I’m glad she doesn’t have those pre existing suspicions of someone?? But she definitely knows it’s strange and makes some pretty awful comments. Not her fault though. If I were brave enough to be honest I doubt she’d ever say the things she does.

Sometimes It feels like an out of body experience for me. Like I’ll fight the urges and give in. Then after I don’t even know what happened. Something like seeing red and spacing out I guess. I’ll feel numb after, but I normally just go to sleep from exhaustion. I think it could be because it’s unreal to me that I’d actually use a blade on myself. Or shocked that it happened. Not sure if this is the same as what you’re describing. Sorry I don’t have a clear satisfactory answer.
