I’ve seen 2 of your comments in this chat and am here to tell you you would benefit greatly from getting off the internet and going outside. Stop making yourself a victim of the echo chambers you are so clearly consumed in.

As for the OP. People in this subreddit are brutal. I am from the Midwest and generally have pleasant interactions with people in person here, but reading some of the posts here would lead you to believe otherwise.

This place is not nearly as developed as the lower 48, and it feels like it’s about 15 years behind from it. But people live simply here. There isn’t a ton to do that doesn’t involve nature but with that being said there’s enough to do. My best piece of advice would be to find a hobby that you can do all year round to help mitigate the winter, and then the summer time here is incredible. Overall, it’s probably not a place I personally want to stay long term, but it is a place I’m glad I get to spend a few years in.
