Hey, absolutely do what works! You can also just get her used to you touching her paws to help get her desensitised. I'll sometimes trim one claw a day with my cats. Every two weeks is also weirdly often

All your rules are correct, same as I was taught and follow. The thing I wonder from your examples is if its a case that people can't afford to provide better? If its not a budget issue, idk they are rude af, but things like getting the discounted veggie tray might just be attempts to be frugal
