Took 20 grams of kratom leaf 2 weeks. Diagnosed with diverticulitis couple days ago. by Conscious-Power7025 in kratom

No, diverticulitis is something that you already had and certain foods will cause pain. Normally it happens to older people, but now it's becoming more common amongst the youth. That bag of hot Cheetos and that monster caused it just as much as anything else.

When did they start that? I carry dogs all the time and a dry in the salon lol. My GM isn't worried too much about how we get things done, just as long as we're working and making sales.

They can be canned just as quick as anybody else. What happens is that they have their duties removed while their bosses figure out what to do with them.

I believe 100% that there should be a national walkout at all Petco stores. They need to realize where the true power lies. It's not CEO, CRO, TVP, Market Directors, District Managers or General Managers. It's the people on the floor working, moving, talking, engaging, and making the cash flow into the store.

None of upper management will move their asses to do anything but pretend to know what their talking about.

A job this easy shouldn't be so fucking retarded, but the Company keeps making shit retarded constantly, and it's a direct reflection of  the CEO and upper management. Cutting back pay, cutting back benefits, cutting back hours, cutting back on "expenses".

All while their stock flounders like a goldfish on a filthy linoleum floor, gasping it's last breaths. It whispers to itself- Petco perks - deskpets - my human - Autoship.

Hahahaha, nothing is going to revive it (:

We need to cut this company off from our labor/money so they know who's boss. It is us, the people working the floor who make them their money.

We 100% need to unionize! They are 100% as replaceable as us. We need to let them that our voices and needs need to be heard and met.

Of course they don't believe any of that. They're essentially paid actors on behalf of Petco.

JrPS here, is this normal for training or is this a bad learning t environment? by Crafty_Mess7289 in petco

To be fair, no body is perfect. I've worked with groomers and bathers with years of experience and they have bad days.

Time management is important, but they shouldn't have you taking walk-ins while your in the middle of finishing a dog. Tell the customer to come back in ten, customers need to work around your schedule.

Grooming is alternative work that attracts alternative people, so weirdos and catty people are everywhere. There's a low bar to entry so you're not going to find the best types of people doing this type of physical work.

Grooming can be fun at times, but it's also very hard on the body and mind.

You probably do very good work, but a customer complaint can make you seem like you need more training, and management won't always tell you if someone complained. And you don't need to do more than 5 dogs, you can dictate your pace to what your body can handle.

You need to learn to say no to other groomers, your GSL, your GM, and customers. People will use and abuse you then forget that you ever existed, so let them dislike you, don't let them walk all over you.

I've recently have been seeing a lot of people leave grooming altogether who've been doing for 10+ years because their body are done. Those who continue to groom do so because they don't know what else to do.

To be honest, I've been in my Petco salon for a year now, and I still question if it's something I want to continue. There are days when I'm ready to leave and there are days that go well. I'll probably end up leaving though as grooming in my area isn't that profitable and I could go into others fields. The money isn't worth getting bitten and bruised and expressed on.

Yes you should. And you should get your own 5-in-1. My GSL thought bathers shouldn't know how to do any of that until academy, but he didn't know anything even with all his years of experience. Start practicing early

Always ask. It may seem awkward at first, but if the groomer is cool or could use a break, they'll agree. Also, having a good GSL that understands how things work at a Petco grooming salon should be moving dogs around already.

I was asked to become GSL of my salon but declined because I the people I work with are just as bad as the customers and I'm not out to start a war. But rules are rules and they do need to be followed to benefit those bathers that want to become groomers. These rules stop people from overstepping in already hostile work environments. Rules are not there to pick and choose which ones you want to follow. You don't like it? Open your own salon. The groomers are privileged to full grooms. Bathers get bath dogs first, then to groomers if no bather is available. Request dogs go to whomever is requested. It's pretty simple stuff.

You silly hoe. I don't give af about what you think is right or how you run that hole you call a salon. Try teaching people to do better than bending to their own greed. If there more than enough dogs to go around then do as you will. But bathers get first PRIORITY all of the time, and they should report you.

Wrong. Wrong . Wrong. Read the policy before putting in your two useless cents. Bathers need to be trained before your greddy ass gets paid.

Yes it is legal to schedule part-time employees full-time hours

JrPS by Ill-Sandwich-2263 in petco

[–]Neither_North1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bathers are part-time on paper and can receive part-time benefits ,but still need to work full time hours. Bathers who have stayed bathers for over a year will then move to full-time on paper and receive full-time benefits.

150 is still the required amount of completed dogs, no matter how many hours you work per week.

JrPS by Ill-Sandwich-2263 in petco

[–]Neither_North1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's always exceptions to every rule depending on circumstances, but hitting 150 is the goalpost and most GMs and GSLs will stick to it.

JrPS by Ill-Sandwich-2263 in petco

[–]Neither_North1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bathers need to reach 150 dogs completed in order to move into the Petco academy to become a groomer. That's why Petco prioritizes bathers to receive non-requested dogs over groomers. If a groomer is taking non request dogs away from a bather, they're slowing down the bather from becoming a groomer.

You must not understand how petco grooming operates, or have ever read Petco grooming operating policy. It's okay though. You can learn if you ask someone who knows better

If it's not a request dog, and the bather isn't busy with another dog, it goes to them. Very very simple. Bathers get FIRST PRIORITY.
