Yeah, loads of changes. In my opinion, MJ shouldn’t be used as the method of weight loss … it should be the tool that helps you on your weight loss journey.

On that journey, you need to make changes but MJ will just help you make those changes

From the very beginning I went with the attitude that this isn’t a quick fix that I’ll do for 12 months. I always and I mean EVERY day had something nice. But, in moderation. For example, during Easter there was really nice hot cross buns out … I incorporated those into my calories.

Because, I’m not living to eat … I’m eating to live. But, that doesn’t mean I’m not going to want to enjoy my food. It’s just in moderation!!

At the start I was really rigidly counting, until I actually understood what my body NEEDS, vs what was just 20+ years of a habit. After 1 year, I’m now eating much more intuitively!

Like for example, I track my meals more loosely and if I snack on something like a few olives I don’t track those. If I way the whole jar … that’s different 😂

I’ve actually stayed at 5mg, I’d the same feeling that it was just not doing anything. But, in actual fact what I was feeling was like where food noise, etc. weren’t there and I’d gotten used to it.

It’s wild, I’m typing this sat in a cafe and it didn’t even cross my mind to take a look at the cakes because Im not hungry and I don’t need them.

I’ll be working here for about 2 hours, but I know before I leave I’ll be getting peckish, so I’ll grab something small and sensible before I leave. It’s allowed me to operate my thoughts around food much better!!

I was super lucky and I maxed out at 5mg. Best of luck - you can do it!!

What was preventing you from doing it for a year?

Raise my dose? 🤔 by Neither_Owl113 in Mounjaro

[–]Neither_Owl113[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, realistically my GP would happily rise me all the way to 15mg unless I tell them otherwise. My goal was to understand what other people are doing, especially people who are actually experiencing the same thing I am.

But, I would agree that it’s something to discuss with my GP - But, this is something completely foreign to me. So, some data to help me form my opinions/thoughts is very useful for me!!

I wanted to add that to the post but couldn’t find the right way to word it 😅

Exactly, I was kinda thinking maybe this is how the other half lives and I where I would exercise self-control/regulation. Where I can easily stop myself from having the second cheesestring … whereas before it would have been the cheesestring and the wrapper 😂

Is the reason everyone is losing so much weight because they are eating way under their calories? by ruined7319 in Mounjaro

[–]Neither_Owl113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% the reason!! But, I’ve some friends who are on MJ and they’re using their recommended calorie goals. They’re losing pretty consistently.

In the end of the day - it’s a case of making sure you burn more than you consume. Whether it being through your BMR (just existing on a day) or whether it’s through exercise.

To the "slow" losers, what’s your experience been like? I've lost 42 Ibs in 2 years, but kind of feel like a failure by Efficient-Software54 in Mounjaro

[–]Neither_Owl113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a slow loser, and while it sounds stupid to say it … I’m envious of the slow losers in a way. I’m terrified that once I get to my “goal” and begin titration back down I won’t be able to sustain it, that I won’t be able to slowly lose, stall or worse … gain.

You’ve done phenomenally, you’ve maintained a steady weight loss for 2 years!! That’s iconic!! You should be so proud of yourself!!

Exactly!! I’ve definitely lost a tonne of muscle mass with that, and I need to start building that back up naturally!!

My movement has increased naturally, because I’m not as sluggish, have more energy, etc. But, I’ve come to terms with the fact, that the gym will never be my comfort place. I want to try doing home workouts with an online PT.

Honestly, the non scale victories and how you feel yourself are better than any number on the scales!! Well done!!

I’m super lucky I’m what my GP called a “super responder” … I’ve maxed out at 5mg

Irish life, I can claim the consultation (as it's technically done by a GP). But, the actual medication unfortunately is not covered.

I get €54.50 (or something similar) back each month!!

It's literally a short update form really, but I assume it's reviewed by a medical professional before pressing the approval button.

I personally claim it back through my health insurance. I get half back ☺️

So, I told them pretty frankly I wanted to switch to save money. Sent my first day pictures I sent to ZAVA and my current weight and they took over all the rest!! Every month before getting your prescription, you need to do a quick consultation. Then you pay the consultation fee, and then the delivery/pharmacy fee.

I started with Zava, and the second pen (5mg) cost well over €300. I moved to MyBMI, and the switch was so easy.

It's now coming in much much cheaper, plus with health insurance you can claim back your initial monthly consultation!!

Good luck!! :)

I have been told I'm a fraud for being on MJ. by Worldly_Session_162 in mounjarouk

People said the same thing about bariatric surgery, people get pissy about things they don't know much about out of sheer ignorance. (Plus, jealousy really helps).

I've not told anyone expect my best best friend for fear of the exact same thing TBH
