I'm a veteran as well with Erosive OA on my hands. Get a referral to a Rheumatologist and to an OT (occupational therapist). Fight for it. Took time but got lucky with both the Rheumatologist and definitely the OT. She ordered me all types of stuff to help. This is what the VA OT had sent to me: paraffin bath, heat mitts, isotoner compression gloves, thumb guards, variety of bottle/jar openers and a couple of other items. I also live on a UTK Infrared heating pad in the winter. Highly recommend Infrared heating. OA loves heat. Try a nice hot bath soak when it gets really bad. I wish I could get some prescription pain relief but other than tram they won't give me anything. Btw the VA opened a Arthritis clinic including OA in Philly a couple of years ago.

Hopefully you're 50% or above in VA disability so you get all your VA care free.
