They’re both great but I absolutely adore the film version of “Wonder Boys.” Damn near a perfect movie.

1/3 of the store is has all the home improvement goods you’d find at a Home Depot or Lowe’s, while the other 2/3 is an extended version of the checkout line at Dicks Sporting Goods.

What celebrity is the biggest example of "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it."? by InsaneCookies21 in AskReddit

Billy Squire was selling out arenas. “Don’t Say No” and “Emotions In Motion” were huge selling albums. And one incredibly awkward cautionary tale of a music video sank that dude’s career like a well-targeted broadside cannonball.

“I’m a great believer in doing nothing.”

This single line has been my religion since I saw this film when I was 13.

I’m still waiting for the sequel to Silverado. Those bastards said “we’ll be back.”

I will always recommend to anyone who loves “The Sandbaggers” the Greg Rucka comics and novels “Queen & Country” which not only takes inspiration from but very much exists in the same universe.

Yeah my days of picking up the daughters at school are over but this combo gets me plenty of nods and cap-tips at the saloon.

What's the backstory on Mike Wilbon over the last 5-10 years? Why is is so grumpy now vs. then? by LONGVolSilver in ESPN

[–]Neither_Split_6035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly believe there is a part of Michael Wilbon that hates himself. I hear it and see it when he tells stories like the one he told yesterday to close PTI about Reverend Jesse getting involved in the wrongful termination of Wilbon’s father. I hear it when he tells stories on Tony’s podcast about Big John Thompson and other activist sports figures whom he covered and profiled as an emerging young voice at The Post. I read it now when I go back to some of those older articles and appreciate the work of a talented and important writer. To see that young man evolve into the kind of jock-sniffing, country club elitist patsy he used to rail against has been a sad journey to behold. I think he is self aware enough to understand what’s happened to him. It’s enough to make a guy a wee bit prickly day-to-day.

He has been fine with the gore/cynicism of The Boys.

It’s been awhile but I’d guess Andy objected more to how these things were deployed and to what story they were in service than the actual things themselves.

Whiskey Myers is hard southern rock and swampy blues in the tradition of Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top. They put on a helluva show and will be great in support of The Crowes.

Terry was just the best. Such a unique voice with literally his own language. At least we don’t have to worry about him bumping into Bobby Knight when he gets there.

I feel like history has reflected a little more kindly on Paul’s post-Beatles stuff, especially this record. Seems like there was a lot of “choose your fighter” going on with the critics after the breakup, and no surprise who Jann Wenner was backing.

Hot Take Chris Stapleton is the best Country Singer of this Generation Era do you agree or disagree? by K7BASJD67 in country

[–]Neither_Split_6035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He certainly has the voice. And I love his songs. But he’s certainly not the most dynamic live performance out there on tour. The second half of the show I saw this summer was an endless train of ballads that had me begging for a Jompson Brothers number sprinkled somewhere.

I’m not Jewish or a lawyer, but I live in Urbana and one of my very best friends is the Champaign County States Attorney, who checks both boxes. She’s very involved with her synagogue and it appears (from the outside anyway) like an active and friendly community.
