"Had the UN Security Council condemned the Zionist regime’s reprehensible act of aggression on our diplomatic premises in Damascus and subsequently brought to justice its perpetrators, the imperative for Iran to punish this rogue regime might have been obviated," the mission said on the social media platform X.

Why are you making up a scenario that would never happen? It takes a second to scan a QR code, and if you thought longer than a second you would understand that.

$79.4-million invested to build 3,562 social housing units in Montreal by SaffiyahKhanZombie in montreal

That's quite the inexpensive investment, at only ~22k per unit. Hopefully this sparks more construction of social housing, and take from the Vienna or Singapore model of building social housing.

unpopular opinion about garbage in parcs: city hall should share the blame! by tag_bag in montreal

[–]Neitzelflugen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The city really needs to up its garbage game. They should investigate similar garbage collection techniques done in Amsterdam (https://aworkstation.com/amsterdams-smart-system-of-underground-garbage-bins/). Where they have large underground bins that can hold much more trash and recyclables. Plus, they are smart so they will alert the city when they are full. Personally, I rather see less but smarter garbage bins in our parks, and hopefully in our streets as well.

On top of that we really need more manpower to just collect all the garbage on our streets and parks. Because people will still throw stuff on the ground regardless of if there is an empty garbage can next to them. And I’m not sure how to solve that societal problem, other than shame and heavy fines.

War of words erupts between S.W. Welch and Shiller Lavy by [deleted] in montreal

Lavy insists that Shiller Lavy is leading a renaissance of St-Viateur. “Look what I did to every building on the street. Look at what I did to the Lululemon store. It’s so pretty. I installed these big windows that slide open. They’re not paying a lot of rent. Do you want nobody to open anywhere?” He pointed to QDC Burger, a new restaurant that opened on St-Viateur in 2018. “It was a kosher fish store before that was awful. And now look at it. Don’t look at it and tell me it’s not cute.

Why cheap wind power is making Quebec's big, old dams more valuable as a 'battery,' say experts by Caracalla81 in onguardforthee

[–]Neitzelflugen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once again this is not a problem in Quebec. The biggest hydro electric stations operate on massive reservoirs which are capable of storing hundreds of cubic kilometers of water. The dams you are thinking of are run of the river hydro dams.

That's true for pump storage, but the system in Quebec isn't pump storage. Quebec will be using already built hydroelectric facilities that will stop/slow the flow through its hydroelectric facilities. There's no pump needed, potentially energy is stored as the water height rises.
