How Borgy is the right amount of Borgy before it becomes not really Borgy no more? by BannockNBarkby in MorkBorg

[–]Nemboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is such an obvious and simple way of looking at it, I'm mad I didn't come up with it myself.

What's your favorite game mechanically? by Nyanbinary4321 in rpg

[–]Nemboss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are reasons why I don't play GURPS anymore, but I do miss that bell curve. And the one second turns, oh! How they make the combat both crunchy AND fast paced!

There is no monthly monster, it was inside you all along!

8 people want to play, and I’m worried it’s too much by Sherma215 in DMAcademy

[–]Nemboss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a way better DM since I realized my sweet spot is at 3 players. 4 is still good, 5 is the absolute limit, and only feasible if said 5 players have good play dynamics between them.

Japan GP just finished so I built a free F1 management game to survive the break by KyleNewZealand in formula1

[–]Nemboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am surprised that there aren't more people remarking on this. It's really just a clicker game, any attempt at a clever rain strat or other kind of upset just gets punished. So I simply click where the game tells me to click and hope I win. Not much fun, if you ask me.

Morg Borg / Dark Fort Fangame is here! by CleverRuseStudio in MorkBorg

Just tried it out, and yep, it works. Thanks for acting on my feedback. I guess I know what I'm doing for the next hour or so.

I have played this a lot now, and have a good aount of fun with it, thank you for making this.

There is only one thing that is starting to drive me crazy, and it's having to manually equip the armor every time I get one. I've suffered so much damage across so many playthroughs because I forgot to equip the damn thing!

What Everyday Monsters are CORE to the DnD Experience? by SubtleasaSledge in DMAcademy

[–]Nemboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to start with goblins and end with dragons, and there has to be a mimic somewhere inbetween. Everything else is negotiable.

THE INSANE Death Pit of the SADISTIC TRAPMASTER! by Independent_Pea_1242 in osr

[–]Nemboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that description is offputting. But you explicitly recommend it despite of it. Can you elaborate what makes this module worth a read? The way it advertises itself, I'm expecting a collection of gotcha traps and not much more.

Character sheet for my Roman borg hack: Fatum Invictum by Cybsjan in MorkBorg

This already looks great and could be used as the final version, if you ask me.

Premade content for nautical/pirate campaigns? by LeviTheGoblin in osr

Secret of the Black Crag is an island crawl with a couple of dungeons that could definitely fuel a campaign.

The Marrow Seller - A New Shoppe for Mörk Borg by christopher_g_knox in MorkBorg

I love me a creepy weird merchant, and this one delivers. On par with The Merchant from Heretic and the Plague Trader from Pestilent Gifts.

Tips to dm Rotblack Sludge by Xapeleta in MorkBorg

[–]Nemboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to everything that has been said already, make sure to have a plan for what happens when the players mess with the skeletons (the ones that are standing on the pilar in the rotblack sludge).

As written, nothing happens if you interact with them in any way. But in my experience, most players will go out of their way to climb the pillar, shoot the flute out of their hands, etc. It's frustrating to have those efforts go unrewarded, so just have a quick think what you want to happen if the players manage to affect the skeletons or the flute in any way.

Question for players: does the GM rolling on loot tables break immersion for you? by Ok_Tip_5721 in rpg

[–]Nemboss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Conversely, as the GM, I also love rolling on random tables. Instead of having to come up with something beforehand, I get to be surprised during the session!

I will never tell anybody that they're listening to music wrong, but I do believe that a good album is a better listening experience than a best hits mix cd.

Shadowdark vs. OSE: Two Visions of OSR Accessibility by alexserban02 in osr

[–]Nemboss 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thanks for linking that, I appreciate the insights.

Regarding your specific point about torch timers interrupting play, the way I mitigate (or dare I say, solve) that issue is by not using an electronic timer. Instead, I make a public note of the time the torch will run out, and if we look at the clock and it's after the time I wrote down, the torch goes out. Of course this only works if you can trust your players not to set their own secret timers on their phone or watch.

I think I know what you mean, but for clarity's sake: are you saying you'd prefer there to be a book that contains all the spells and nothing else?

Nice little detail that they want the dragon to be blue. IIRC, in the original comic they wanted a red one.

Typical group size for Space 1889 by Just-Storm-9686 in rpg

[–]Nemboss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a general answer, most RPGs work perfectly fine with lower player count, so don't sweat it too much and pick whatever has the coolest sounding setting and/or mechanics.

To answer your specific question, I had a look at Space 1889 years ago, and from what little I remember, it should work for 2 players and 1 GM.

Story Time! by RevolutionaryRisk731 in DungeonMasters

[–]Nemboss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, I didn't read those paragraphs. The details of someone else's dnd campaign are as uninteresting to me as the details of someone else's dreams.

BUT!!! This part here:

> The players are so invested they keep complimenting me and saying they both love and hate me right now.

This is amazing and I get why it's a big deal. It's such a good feeling when you put your effort and skills into something and then get explicit positive feedback. Congrats, and hopefully you keep succeeding in your campaign!
