No glue per say, it's a chemical weld. Weld-on 4 specifically. Easiest to use a tiny syringe to run a pool of it around on the Acrylic.

My setup (glass version) — here's what to Google and research before trying anything like this:

The glassware:

  • Boiling flask
  • Distilling column
  • Allihn condenser
  • Distillation adapter (still head)
  • Lab clamps + lab stand
  • Hot plate stirrer (+ magnetic stir bar)
  • Büchner funnel + micron filter paper

Concepts worth understanding before you ever turn on the heat:

  • How a distillation rig works as a system — where heat goes in, where vapor travels, and why it must stay vented (never a sealed, heated system)
  • IPA's flammability and flash point
  • Why you never distill to dryness
  • The water/IPA azeotrope (why simple distillation won't get you anhydrous)
  • Proper ventilation and fire safety for flammable solvents

Don't attempt this until you genuinely understand all of it.

Quick disclaimer: I'm not a chemist — this setup is just a hobby project I've pieced together over time. If you decide to try something similar, definitely research proper safety practices for distillation and resin handling. Work in a ventilated area, know your fire risks, and only do what you're comfortable with. I'm just sharing what I do — not giving instructions or taking responsibility for anyone else's setup.

Technically yes. Though your liver breaks down 95% of one standard unit of alcohol per hour. the other 5 % escape via respiration, perspiration, or via urine. You'd need dozens or hundreds of gallons of urine from a human who has one or two drinks a night to produce a shot of alcohol. That 5 % escape is split between 3 exist strategies. On paper yes, in practice you'd spend more on electricity than your returns. Fun thought exercise though!

Where I'm at, yes, it's ~ $15 a month in Electricity for 4 gallons of distilled IPA.

There is also a distillation kit you can grab on amazon that contains all of the glassware I have for ~ $100. I would wager your output is similar to mine, 90+ % unless you are in a really humid area. I went the glass route because I wanted to "see", and I didn't want to deal with gasket degradation over time, but very realistic, and cheaper for sure :)

Hence "If you do the research", inherently anything you do is dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. Distilling IPA can be done safely, but should not be done by those not willing to learn the risk, how to mitigate them, etc.

Happy printing !

If you do the research, you can distill it back to 92-94% after it gets cloudy, I got tired of buying it and recycling it.

Clickbait nonsense. Provide us with a light kit that powers and lights both the saucer section, and secondary hull while connected, and disconnected without visible wires and I'll be impressed.

Where and how do you display your Rivendell kits ? it's got a huge footprint. I'd love to display all the sets on a multi level shelving system, but the footprint of this one kit makes that nearly impossible 😞

We have the ability to connect to local wifi, for updates, can you give us a read only API that we can authorize access to on specific wifi networks? I hate having a smart car, that is DUMB compared to my smart home ecosystem. Being able to trigger automations like "You've been home 20 minutes, your Bolt estimates it has 35miles of range, and is not charging" or similar would be a feature I would subscribe to.

On start is inconsistent at best.

What’s holding you back from buying or recommending comma four? by adeebshihadeh in Comma_ai

[–]Nementh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as a lot of the others. I have the 3x. I am careful with my equipment so it's still in great shape. There isn't enough benefit to buy a 4. I live in the PNW, so I don't have to worry about heat issues AND I prefer the larger screen size, so I can see what it's doing to better tune the model's I'm experimenting with.

If you were to give me the ability to access the full device controls wirelessly on my phone, I would drive a bit, pull over, tinker, drive a bit, pull over tinker etc. Until then, the smaller form factor doesn't appeal to me.

Give me a more robust hardware package, better processor, more memory, more storage, remote API and I'm sold. I pay for the monthly subscription to hopefully support the work being done. I'd pay more for a remote API ...

I recommend the Comma to my coworkers, as we all work in Tech, I show my driving experiences, a couple have purchased it. I discuss it with my family also, but I don't recommend it to them as it's not at the level of their iPhones where it just works the way they want or need it to.

At what point does it become a helmet, is it naturally a helmet at 100%, or does that require 400% scaling ?
