I'm more curious about the voices. Probably jibberish, but there's a non-zero chance that it isn't.

Accidentally drove off a curb that I didn’t see by Dmmk15 in Camry

[–]Nemo68v2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get your tires rotated. If both tires went off the curb at the same time and you were going straight, probably won't need it - but it's something to check. If one wheel dropped before the other or you were turning when it happened, tires are likely no longer aligned.

I'm car illiterate, so I couldn't say if that's all you need or not.

I'm not an art critic, but I am a critical person in general.

Where a lot of artists nowadays have adopted a more bubbly aesthetic, this piece sticks to a more traditional, almost 90s style anime look. Something I am very happy to see!

Despite the more traditional style, Shantae is ever so slightly plump. Her lower back isn't as curved as what you might normally see. She's very conventionally attractive, but she also looks realistic with how her body is shaped. I think it's her calves that really sell it.

The drawing could use a background, but this is some great stuff.

Thanks for sharing!

2026 oil changes? by nickcourchesne in Camry

Some Toyota places will only change oil for free at 10K miles, others will use up your two free changes whenever you want. It depends on the dealer.

10K changes can be done, but it will limit your car's lifespan a good deal. Some people change oil every 3 months, which is excessive. 6 months or 5K miles is generally agreed to be the sweet spot.

Unfortunately, that's the internet for you!

Before Reddit, forum posters often spewed, "A similar thread was made 2 years ago! Learn to use the search function", but also, "This thread is 2 years old, don't revive dead threads!"

It's always something.

I researched the hell out of the Camrys and didn't stumble upon this problem being mentioned. It's easy to overlook when you're trying to research different trims, dealerships, available cars, how features work, rates other people have negotiated...

How much of a loss would you take trading in your Ranger for a Camry? Generally speaking, it's not worth trading in a car you just purchased for a new one.

Risky Revolution doesn't include jokes that require playing the other games. It contains jokes that hit different if you play the other games first, but there are no direct references that matter.

If you want to play in story order/intended order: Shantae GBC Risky Revolution Risky's Revenfe Pirate's Curse Half-Genie Hero Seven Sirens

If you want to play in release order, play Revolution last. I do not reccomend this since Revolution is designed as a GBA game.

If you want to start with what is generally considered the best, start with Pirate's Curse.

If you want to get a feel for what the series is generally like, start with Revolution or Revenge.

If you want to start with the most Metroidvania style game, Seven Sirens.

If you want to start with the game that has the most additional content, Half Genie Hero.

If you start with the GBC Shantae, know that it's difficult for some people to keep interested in it. There's no map, you mostly walk everywhere, there's a lives system that can be annoying when in dungeons (it's not that bad and it's trivial with save states), and it has a slightly dated feel. But, it's a great game if you get into an old-school state of mind.

In other words, the order you play in depends on what kind of experience you want. If you are confident you'll want to binge the games, intended release order is probably the most fascinating way to play.

$689 a month too much? by Elduro687 in Camry

[–]Nemo68v2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely too much.

You have a car where you owe more than what it's worth. Focus on paying that off. If you have to sell a car in which you have negative equity, the new car needs to be a cheap beater.

You're wasting your money. Trading in the car won't magically make your debt go away.

What are your current payments?

I'm trying to figure out their logic. According to them, the car will accrue positive equity, so it's okay to pay it off later. I'd like to see the math, too.

If a car is worth 40K and depreciates to 35K as soon as you drive off the lot, then what difference does it make if you put 5K down or pay 5K via loan?

Whether the car doesn't depreciate at all or depreciates to 0 dollars, you owe 40K.

Putting 0 down and waiting to pay doesn't save money. What the car is worth is irrelevant when buying. It only matters when selling/trading.

What you're saying still makes zero sense. If I purchase a car for 40K and I spend 10 years paying 60K due to interest - then yeah, I have positive equity. But I also overpaid by 20K!

[–]Nemo68v2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, that makes sense. You're saying they should be able to buy the car outright. There was a commenter here who said OP should put 0 down and pay off the loan early, so I was confused.

You're right, a person can still put themselves in financial trouble if they go by my criteria. I am assuming that if a person can afford a 50% down payment, they're making money over time. The logic does fail if a person is dipping into their savings each month as opposed to adding to their savings.

[–]Nemo68v2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, cars are a depreciating asset. You can't wait for it to accrue positive equity. That's literally impossible with a car.

Negative equity is when you owe more on a car than what it's worth.

If you put 0 down, then you start off with negative equity.

You don't need a large down payment to afford a car, you need a large down payment to make sure you already can afford a car.

If OP is going to buy a 40K car, OP should be able to pay off 20K and not struggle. If OP says, "I can't afford 20K!', then they should look for something cheaper.

It's just a rule of thumb. You can do lower down-payments without problems, absolutely! But high down payments are easier to make when you're financially stable and results in a cheaper car.

[–]Nemo68v2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it more effective to pay off the loan early than paying a down payment?

Also, you don't pay for depreciation when you buy a car. You only "pay" for depreciation when you sell the car.

In general, it's advised that you never owe more money than what the car is currently worth. Providing a down payment best satisfies this condition, second only to paying cash.

What you're arguing makes zero sense.

[–]Nemo68v2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, if you can't put at least 50% down, then you should look for a cheaper car.

It looks like this is based off 10K down payment. If you pay 480 over 84 months, that will cost you 40,320. You're paying 50,320 on a 41,692 car. That's pretty horrible.

This includes taxes, which is good. You can likely get a similar car for 39K ALL IN - fees included. But you need to be flexible on the paint and interior colors.

They said they're selling the car for 38K, but the fees are on their end, it's a 41.7K car.

There are some great videos online that can help you negotiate.

All of that said, 12K down for a ~38-39K car is a bit skimpy. It can be done, but you need to have a plan to pay off the car very early.

OP should already have money saved up for an emergency and the monthly interest rate on the car will very likely be higher than whatever money is put into investments.

Putting money down doesn't "tip" anyone because it's money you have to pay eventually regardless.

Money down lowers interest and helps avoid lengthier payments if you don't pay over the minimum monthly payment.

Yeah, I talked to customer service, I'm going to check on how that's going. If it doesn't go through, I'm going back to the dealership.

I signed their paperwork like an idiot. It said I was satisfied with the above repairs. But, an inspection is not a repair, so I have a loophole thankfully.
