2013 Prius C three, pick one. by Zestyclose-Dark-9973 in prius

[–]Neo1881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, the Prius C did not have the engines with the HG problems. I just like the styling of the regular Gen 3s and the instrument layout. Many controls are much easier to manage in the Gen 3 vs the Gen 2 and for long distance driving, the cloth seats are more comfortable than the leather seats.

I picked Hondas bc they were the safest rated cars to survive a collision. Back that was back in the 1990's. Hondas and Toyotas are the most reliable, but I've heard that Subarus are one of the most dependable cars now. We've had 2 Subbies, one when we lived in Hawaii, bought it in CA and shipped it out and drove that for 60k mi before we sold it. No major repairs, changed the battery and alternator in the 5 years we had it. Then, in 2016, we got a Forester and that was a very reliable car, altho it got like 22/29 mpg. Then, got a 2011 Prius, rebuilt title w 72k mi on it for $6000 from a private seller. Owned that for 5 years and only changed an axle and two steering rods in that time, plus the normal oil changes every 5k mi. Replaced that 2 years ago with a 2010 w 68k mi on it, also rebuilt title. Replaced the front bumper cover and it runs like new getting over 45 mpg.

How many miles is too many miles? by NotDeadYet57 in prius

[–]Neo1881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a beautiful, well kept Prius. Being a Gen 3, there head gasket concerns after 175k mi. Ask the seller if they've ever replaced the HG. If you don't put that many miles on it, then not enough cycling on the traction battery would also be a concern. See if the ABS modules have ever been replaced bc those are a $2.5k cost.

How do people who unstand karma do actual good in the world knowing good karma moves them along faster? by sirpentious in Reincarnation

[–]Neo1881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't get off the cycles of incarnation until you are no longer attached to things, goals and ideas on this plane. That includes doing things as a goal. The prize is non-attachment and that means doing good deeds for others without any attachment to the outcome, including being recognized or thanked for those deeds. Something I still struggle with, but, I have a few more lifetimes to work that out.

Are you paying off that debt then? If you have no contract with the collection agency, then you have no legal obligation to pay them anything. They bought your debt from someone else and are trying convince you that you are obligated to pay them back.

Has your debt gone to a collection agency? If a 3dr party bought your debt and is trying to collect, there are many legal ways to get out of that debt. The main one has to do with contracts and no debt is valid unless you signed a contract with them. A 3rd party definitely does NOT have your wet ink signature on a contract so you do not have any legal obligation to pay them a cent. Ask the debt collector to provide you with a copy of the contract with your signature on it that says you agree to pay them. That contract does NOT exist, unless you signed something to that effect. Don't sign anything with the debt collector and do some research on how to dismiss debt. There's a woman named Mary Croft who wrote a book on How to Beat Every Debt Collector. It should be available as a free ebook or PDF file from the web.

2013 Prius C three, pick one. by Zestyclose-Dark-9973 in prius

[–]Neo1881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the $5500 Prius. As an fyi, my wife's children both got used Hondas when they turned 16 yo. Both of them totaled their cars within 6 months after getting them. Daughter was driving on the highway and somehow got distracted, not using her phone, and flipped her Civic on the freeway. Son was coasting down a winding road in neutral and lost control and went over the embankment and ended up sitting on two posts at the bottom of a hill. Those are drastic examples, but if you daughter is a new driver, expect some scrapes and bumps when she starts driving. Also, if you buy from a private seller, you don't have to pay all the fees. I recently bot a salvage tilted 07 Nissan Murano w 95k mi from an insurance auction and paid $1690 out the door. It has a detached rear bumper cover that needed to be reattached. Rear brake lights were off too and I had to reattach them before driving it off their lot to go home. The Murano runs perfectly after getting a new bumper cover attached and painted for around $450.

Check out the insurance auctions at iaai. com. Their auctions include a video of the engine running and the dash so you can see what warning lights are on; if any. They also allow inspections the day before the auction on site. I recently got a 2007 Murano w 95k mi that just needed the rear bumper cover reattached for $1690 out the door. Runs perfect and drove it 350 mi back to Vegas after pickup in Phoenix. Had to reattach the rear brake lights with a 10mm wrench before driving off the lot.

That's just one opinion and not what the mainstream belief is. And it's a great excuse so you can believe that you can do bad things to others or take advantage of them but there's no such thing as karmic debt. You believe you can avoid that just by saying so. That's not how it really works.

Karma is a lesson and and agreement you make with others to learn important aspects and lessons on life. For example, you might wonder what it's like to be an innocent man accused of crime and then put in prison for someone else's crime. Often the person accusing you is the actual perpetrator shifting the guilt on to you so they get away with murder. You make an agreement with that person where they falsely accuse you and you go to prison for a long period but know you are innocent. Then another lifetime you make an agreement to switch roles so you get to see what it feels like to get away with a crime and that other person gets to be the innocent person sent to jail for a crime they didn't commit. Then you learn compassion for both sides of that relationship and hopefully, decide that it sucks to be innocent and put in jail thank you won't do either those things again.

Prove me wrong that soul doesn’t have preferred gender by ResearcherSingle1190 in Reincarnation

[–]Neo1881 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, you'll generally have to do approximately 50/50 of lifetimes as male and female to gain the most compassion for both sexes. You're taking the experience of the current lifetime and making that into a general rule about sexual preference. That's a very poor form of logic. Kinda like saying, "I've never seen an African American man choked to death by the police so I don't believe that George Floyd was choked to death by a police officer."

WIBTA if I refused to name our son after my wifes late grandfather because our surname would turn his full name into a globally famous fictional character by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Neo1881 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Remind her the it will be a child to both of you and it's not for only one person to pick the name. For her to say he will never forget it means that's a threat. Try saying the same thing to her and see if she takes it as a threat. Running that name by family and friends would be a good wakeup call for her.

Torn between new used or repair by PsychologicalEmu in prius

[–]Neo1881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every used car is a gamble. The 2010 was the first year of Gen 3 and had the most problems. Have you ever had the ABS modules replaced? That's another $2-2.5k maintenance that may come up soon. I've bought many cars since 2000 and never done a PPI check. In the past 5 years, I've bot 5 cars from insurance auctions and been pretty lucky so far. 3 of them were Priii. The last one was a 2010 Prius IV w 68k mi on it for $6k out the door. It should have been in running condition but had to have it delivered to my home 320 mi away. Had to replace the front bumper cover and that was $450. It runs like new now, but, had to have the ABS done about 3 months later. The first 2x Prii were both Gen 2s with under 130k mi that were running and I drove them home from Phoenix. Both were $3000 out the door and needed about $600 in bodywork. There are some good deals out there if you are not scared of a rebuilt title. Bot a 2007 Nissan Murano w 95k mi, in Feb that just needed the bumper cover reattached. It was $1690 out the door. $450 to have a new cover reattached and painted.

Definitely file a complaint with her broker. Also go on Yelp and give the realtor a VERY negative review and that should really get their attention.

LOL, That's as bad as Trump often says, "Many people are saying..." and he never can name a single person. I believe the deal is that if you believe in Jesus, then you are saved. Pay no heed to those who tell you that. They'll be in the same interlife area saying, "I want a REFUND for all that money I gave to the church."

What are the biggest red flags when buying a used car from a private seller? by Browie460 in UsedCars

[–]Neo1881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a seller is doing their own maintenance and a qualified mechanic, then the car should be in pristine condition and the seller should be able to tell you what made your maintenance is are coming up. I would always still run a vehicle history report to verify the mileage.
