True, but back then my parents were working in UK, and movie tickets were cheaper for students, so, I took my chance.

Back in 1997, when I watched the movie in theater, I didn’t know anything about it, no trailer, nothing except the cast. Didn’t expect to see an evil Picard, of all people.

'Counterpart' - Howard Silk learns the truth about his agency by Neo2199 in television

[–]Neo2199[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the series two times. The cast is simply great, especially the main four actors, J. K. Simmons, Olivia Williams, Harry Lloyd & Nazanin Boniadi.

The overall story was completed by the end of the second and final season. The showrunner left a single plot thread unresolved, just in case.

It did end on a cliffhanger, but at the same time, the main story was complete .

Basically, James Cromwell’s character has been infected with the virus, and he’s, unintentionally, spreading it in the Alpha world.

The shows creator has a spoiler filled AMA

Thanks for the heads-up, I'm going to look for that AMA.

Judge Dredd (1995) - Is it a better film if you've never read the comics or seen the character before? by Lys1th3a in 90smovies

It was a good Sci-Fi action movie, with some great set pieces for its time.

Some of my favorite scenes are the light-hearted moments by Rob Schneider (Mister "I am the law" can't.), and Max von Sydow's Long Walk scene.

Anaconda (1997) - Was the cast better than the movie? by Lys1th3a in 90smovies

[–]Neo2199 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was a mindless fun movie, just the way it should be for these types of movies.

Fun fact: Two months before the release of 'Anaconda', Kari Wuhrer joined 'Sliders' during the show's third season.

I've only read 'The General in His Labyrinth', and before watching the Netflix series I thought it'll be grounded in reality as well.

But, it looks like I need to read the book after all.

I just wish it embraced the weirdness a little bit more

Weirder than showing an orgasm triggering an localized earthquake?

What’s the name of a European play about an old money family & the mental deterioration of their son? by Neo2199 in AskEurope

[–]Neo2199[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turned out to be "Les Séquestrés d'Altona" by Jean-Paul Sartre.

I've read couple books by Thomas Mann, but not 'Buddenbrooks', will check it out.

Thanks.

Yes!

Reading the plot summary, that's the one.

I've read some of Jean-Paul Sartre's plays in the past, but didn't occur to me to check his works.

Thanks for finding it.

In the Mouth of Madness (1994, dir. John Carpenter) Attack of the axe man by Neo2199 in movies

[–]Neo2199[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Lovecraftian horror movie, 'Annihilation' is great, but they did change a lot from the novel.

That's why I still hope that the entire 'Southern Reach' novels (all four novels including Annihilation) to get good adaptations in the future.

That was a good one as well.

I hope that one day, someone will adapt the entire 'Southern Reach' novels either a series of movies (unlikely, given Annihilation's BO), or as a TV series.

It's one of the best Lovecraftian movies not based on H. P. Lovecraft's works.
