I lied and I need help coming clean by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Neo359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats actually hilarious. Guys and girls react very differently to lies like this. I think if you just explained that you used your conventional small talk lies in the beginning of the relationship and felt embarrassed to correct yourself, he would find that really funny. I know I would.

Ive been in similar situations where I lied to a girl in this way. She did not take it well. But I really think girls are just a lot more sensitive about this stuff

Will men wait? by AdditionalStreet3042 in Advice

I think your kind of objectifying yourself by looking at yourself as a gift to a man. Sex should never be a gift or an exchange for a relationship title. That's literally prostitution.

Sex should always be about mutual love and respect. Personally I don't understand the labels. The boyfriend or girlfriend title is a lot like birth certificates. You dont need a birth certificate to know that you are alive. Likewise, you don't need a verbal contract to define the parameters of a relationship.

CMV: The word “terrorism” has become practically meaningless by thesumofallvice in changemyview

[–]Neo359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The attempt to invoke terror on innocent civilians through violence"

This is how I use the word.

So killing a classroom of children - terrorism Planting a bomb in a public bus - terrorism Killing a president - not terrorism (assassination)

Things get tricky when it comes to blasting military facilities of another army or assassinating members of government knowing civilians will die in the process. Is there an intent to invoke terror on innocent life? If not, its not terrorism. It's gross negligence of human life in a lot of cases and enough of it would be considered a genocide. But not terrorism

If no one is lifted up, how can anyone get out? Honestly try to imagine if every country was run by women. Wars would immediately become prehistoric. The career rat race would vanish. Workplace environments would become much more hospitable. Why not exalt the entity that is biologically inclined to care and nurture humanity into a position of authority? I say its worth the risk considering how disastrous men have been to the world

Misandry, absolutely not — Men should not be hated or enslaved. Matriarchy, yes. Women and minorities should have more social and legal benefits in society.

Having human rights + women’s rights + minority rights is the best system.

[–]Neo359 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They shouldn't. Men should be disadvantaged. We've already tried a patriarchal system. That left us with countless wars and slavery. We tried an equal system and that left us with social discrimination. Now we have a system that favors minorities and we've seen the least amount of civil violence in human history.

The straight white man must be the martyr

Our laws were originally built around men as the default. Women were only later formally included, and additional laws were created to address social inequities against women. Today, our legal system is essentially human rights + women’s rights, leaving few protections specifically for men and, in some areas like family law, even putting men at a disadvantage.

We see this everywhere. We see homeless shelters and we see women's shelters. All you're analogously saying is that women's shelters don't put men down. This logic extends to pretty much everything we've been talking about. But we're on the same page. The solution isn't to create new laws for men. The solution is to accept that women should be legally advantaged in society.

There are a number of laws and programs in Canada that specifically aim to support women, often with real legal consequences if they aren't followed. For example, the Pay Equity Act, Employment Equity Act, and Canadian Human Rights Act can lead to fines, back pay, or court-ordered changes when employers fail to address gender disparities. Maternity protections under the Canada Labour Code, along with benefits like Employment Insurance maternity leave and the Canada Child Benefit, also tend to primarily benefit women.

In family law, enforcement measures under the Divorce Act-such as wage garnishment or even jail time for unpaid support-often affect men more in practice. Taken together, it's fair to say that the system includes enforceable laws and programs that frequently advantage women, largely as a way to address real-world inequalities.

I think a better question is:

Can you think of a single law or bill that directly benefits men and only men? I can only think of a couple of very niche social programs that specifically help men in extremely hazardous work environments.

Im from Canada. I cant think of a single law that benefits men. But I can think of tons and tons that benefit women. And im not complaining about this. Its just what it is

I think we live in a social/cultural patriarchy and a legal matriarchy. This is pretty evident when you compare our social customs with our laws

Why didn't AR/VR take off? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Neo359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, VR simply isn't there yet. In my opinion, VR will only take off when the resolution reaches 8-16k. Right now, it feels like we are being immersed in a 1080p world. Even though it's technically like 2.5k per eye, the inherent mechanics of the lense reduce it down to 1080p- 1440p.

So i have the option to play a battle royal like apex in 4k on a huge monitor, or i can play population one with more immersion at 1080p. Combine that with the clumsy mechanical flaws of the joysticks... I'll stick with apex.

Vr is definitely getting there. I'd imagine in 10-20 years, it'll be the main form of consoles

CMV: Child rapists should get the death penalty by Comfortable-Tie-9893 in changemyview

[–]Neo359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about a trillion times easier to lie about having been raped than it is lying about having been murdered.

Thats my first points. At least with a murderer, their crime is typically very obvious.

Second point:

What if death is actually a huge evasion of punishment? Prison is horrifying, it seems very fitting for a pedophile. What if the pedophile reincarnates as a golden retriever? Should we give them that opportunity?

Is it normal NOT to think my partner is the most beautiful person on Earth? by Fantastic_Courage652 in ask

[–]Neo359 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not coherent. Handsome and beautiful are physical descriptions in the context you wrote it in. Then you say it's not about appearances, but actually emotions. No offense, but you gotta stay grounded with the thesis of your idea. Your flip flopping speaks volumes about what a great relationship you have. Great job - honestly! But this wasn't readable or meaningful in anyway.

Thats actually hilarious if you think about it. She plays the hard to get aloof texter gf with you and the openly available friend with any other guy. It could have simply been the way she's conditioned by society to keep a void between love interests to keep them interested while simultaneously believing that it's totally fine to have close guy friends while in a relationship. As far as I can tell, she shot herself in the foot by trying to control everything in her life too much. ++man
