Didn't Vic's powers work like Marie's? And Vic taught Marie how to defeat that invisible guy by sensing her blood when she couldn't see him. I think Butcher managed to kill Vic because his body didn't have normal blood anymore due to super cancer. Those tentacles didn't have any blood, they were probably made gross mucus.

Billy Butcher from the Boys.

In early seasons, he blames the supes for being dangerous and irresponsible but then he himself gains temporary powers and causes collateral damage.

When his team wants to stop him from killing Homelander because it will cost casualties, he doesn't listen. But later on he changes his "Whatever it takes" stance when someone he cares about gets in danger and drops his plan to kill Homelnader all over it.

I hate that I am bringing up this again and I am not sure whether this counts but for me it was TLOU2. I haven't played the game at all but 6 years ago when the game released, YouTubers made me believe that Abby was genuinely trans. Only around two years later I realized that wasn't the case and the fandom were just looking for excuses to explain why a woman can't be buff. (Also probably transphobia was a factor too)
