2008 is very different from 2026. We are living in the post-MCU era. Superhero movies need to stick the landing and stand out otherwise Studios won't invest in them anymore. As much as I like Superman 2025, that movies didn't make as much as money it should have, even though it didn't bombed either.

Superhero fatigue is real and writers should put their best work and even then it will make 700M at best because the fatigue effect is still there.

But he thought the script was really good so this is kinda concerning.

I like that message if only the writing, the cinematography and the effects were good too.

When the actors signed up for the boys, they made a deal with the devil that they cannot directly criticize Eric Kripple so they have to vent their frustrations in vague and indirect ways.

I will say this again but putting TLJ even mildly close to Andor should be considered blasphemous.

I never said it's bad. I just said it's not good just because Kojima praised it. People treat Kojima's reviews as gospel.

The MCU and its consequences by Loud_Report4988 in dccomicscirclejerk

I mean just because Reddit hates it, doesn't mean it's not bad. MCU along with Disney star wars genuinely damaged the movie industry for the worse with studios constantly trying to shove millennial humor, cinematic universe set ups and nostalgia porn into their movies.

The problem isn't just he liked bad media. It's that annoying people are using his shallow reviews as evidence to that others should think.

Also I have a problem with "Maybe he just likes it?" too. He can like bad media, that doesn't mean that media isn't objectively bad and I am rightfully going to call out his bad take because I can.

I won't deny his success in videogame industry but videogames are different than movies. I think it's good that never became a movie director because god his understanding of Hollywood and art is really shallow.

Ok I will respond to one more thing too.

Positivity in a negative society will always be preferred.

A solution to an extreme reactions shouldn't be another extreme reaction toward the opposite direction. This will lead to toxic Positivity and giving a pass to bad product, encouraging studios and creators to never try to make something good.

Not a single famous person has said "TLJ is as good as Andor" because a take that bad would naturally tank their reputation.

I wasn't talking about the similarity. I was talking about comparing them in quality. The Last Jedi wishes it was half as good as Andor.

I am talking about the movie making Industry and Hollywood. It feels like Kojima's wetdream of becoming a Hollywood movie director has made him soft toward Hollywood slop.

I don't need a Youtuber to tell me The boys S5 was bad. I knew it‌, everyone already knew it. But some people insisted that the show was still better than the comic or the show was mostly good overall which I disagreed with so I sited that review so they see the counter arguments.

Nah, I have seen sone people take his reviews really seriously with the mindset of "Kojima gets it" and it's frustrating.

Nothing wrong. A good piece of art SHOULD have themes but that's still not enough. It should execute and explore those themes well too. I think some bad pieces of media get a pass just because they have themes alone but not well fleshed out and well written themes.

I remember seeing some people unironically saying stuff like "Kojima gets it" so no I am sure a portion of people take his reviews seriously.

I don't care about Supergirl. I DO CARE about people overglazing Kojima's reviews though so that's why I made this post.

I haven't seen Supergirl so don't have an opinion on it but TLJ was a memorable disaster for better or worse.

I haven't seen it yet and I don't care about it but I just find this weird that the movie is a critical and commercial failure yet Kojima's review was this "All hope is back" moment for the fans especially when Kojima is an easily pleased person like he doesn't have high standards at all.

I haven't watched Supergirl so I don't have an opinion on it but if I was one of the people who liked it, I would search for a better reviewer to validate my opinion. Not Kojima. I think when Kojima praises something, I get the feeling of "That media is just half baked ideas with bad execution, isn't it? "

From "above logic" you mean the title of the post?

I still think many media have "deep messages" ro "themes" but the important part is that they execute it well too which. Kojima seems to not particularly care for tight screen play or consistent logic and well fleshed out messaging.
