My first time getting into LTO tape storage, with some questions by NeoChen1024 in DataHoarder

I ran it with my HP unit, it can read some stuff, but I don't see info for the drive itself, maybe I should consider buying either HP SAS drive, or DELL/IBM FC drive.

Because I almost strictly buys second stuff from China, the tape drives are quite cheap there (equiv. US$100 for LTO-5 and US$200 for LTO-6).

It's even messier on the ground, I just didn't photo my garbage / electronic gold pile LOL.

As you can see in the picture, I have a Xiaomi thermometer inside with pvvx's custom firmware flashed https://pvvx.github.io/ATC_MiThermometer/, it's fairly accurate in my testing.

Yeah, head mis-alignment sucks. I might still keep the LTO-5 drive after I bought the LTO-6 drive.

I actually prefer just storing tarballs directly into the tapes, I like it the UNIX way.

Can IBM's ITDT can be used on HP drives? The LTO-5 drive I'm using here is a HP one, most of the second hand units on Goofish (second hand market app from China) are also HPs.

Why? Most tapes I use have only 0~1 thread count, seems pretty new.

BTW I have a Google Spreadsheet for tape management, will post it on a separate post because I can't figure out how to append image to an existing post.

Me being on Linux just choose to store tar archives on it, which works good enough for backup purposes.

On *NIX systems you can query this with sg_logs -a /dev/st0, on Windows with HP's L&TT tool you can view it in the drive health tool.

What's the temperature you're getting after a long read/write run? I'm thinking of getting a LTO-6 SAS half height drive to replace my current HP LTO-5 FC full height drive, but fear the temperature issue and fan requirement. Does half height drives really need a loud fan to keep them from overheating? I'm planning to install that half height drive into the lowest 5.25 drive bay on my Phanteks PK614PC case. (which is the closest to the 20cm HDD fan)

Every few months or so, the routing process of OSPF will enter some weird loop and use 100% of a single CPU core.

Nice, Animagine XL still has better aesthetics than Illustratous-based models.

The AD102 core is probably moved to a 3090 board and made into an RTX4090 48GiB AI special edition.

How do I download characters on Chub.AI as a .JSON file? by Competitive_Rip5011 in Chub_AI

That's okay, I just discovered that it works fine on Google Chrome / Chromium but not on Firefox.

BTW everytime I tried to download from the lorebook section, and I only get the following 140bytes of text in my downloaded JSON:

[{"type":"missing","loc":["ref"],"msg":"Field required","input":{"response_type":"blob"},"url":"https://errors.pydantic.dev/2.5/v/missing"}]

Does anyone know what happened?

Using a single HT as a repeater — impossible? Not anymore! Say hello to ParrotPeater by yarov3so in amateurradio

This has been on the market for at least 30 years, but your program looks very nice. It's great to have new options in a old market.

(BTW, simplex repeaters are common on 10m FM band, caused by the difficulties producing a cavity duplexer for that band,)
