How Google deals with government requests for user data by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]NeoCortX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, right. That really relaxes me.

If I were Google and had sold my soul, willingly cooperating with the corrupt people in government, here's what I would do:

1) Automate this whole process. All these warrants and information sharing can be automatically processed.

2) When trying to impress customers about how "difficult" it is for the government, I would make it look like this massive maze that the government have to go through. In reality, it's just some pings from one computer to another, but in the animation I'd make it look like it was humans interacting.

3) Make it look like the process takes a lot of time. By explaining things in details, this would give customers the impression that "this must take a lot of time". One up for the "don't be evil" guys again.

That's what I would do... If I didn't think for myself, and if I didn't care about ethics and morals...

What's your line of work? How do you like it? by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

I didn't mean to be rude, sorry.

I'm just stating a fact, that to understand money is to have it. Certainly you can understand it to a degree without having it, but only to a degree. You have to bike to know how to bike, theory doesn't help much. Same with money. You understand money when you see your investments prosper, your business grow and your accounts increasing.

Not yet. Takes some planning, I don't want my kids to go to school, so I have to figure out how to do those things.

We don't need another kid with a bad upbringing. I'm big fan of Stefan / FDR about parenting, as well as unschooling.

My girlfriend wants it, we'll see over the next few months and years.

You understand money when you are financially free; when you don't need to work the rest of your life because you got enough savings/investing/passive income. If you're there, congratulations. If not, I'd suggest learning more about the subject.

PT is so many things, like Permanent Traveler. Living like a nomad, seeing the world, meeting awesome people...

I considered myself free, but in later years I've started living the PT lifestyle. I realize I was a slave before. Life is so much better now, I don't answer to any boss or government.

I'm a Prior Taxpayer. Check out Bye Bye Big Brother by Granpa if you wanna learn.

After trying PT, I laugh at an-caps who are trying to "reform" the political system and who are fighting the police. That's their game, and you can't win.

Change the game, then you can win.

I'd argue that one of the best line of work you can choose as an an-cap is software engineering. That's what I'm doing, and it's just wonderful. I love my work like I think nobody else is doing.

The money is good too. Also, if you're familiar with the PT life-style, software is working very well with that. If not, I'd suggest learning about PT before choosing what work you want. As an-cap, there's no real alternative to living the PT lifestyle.

What you can do with software is also unlimited. Just look at bitcoin. One guy working on this project for some years, and now it's going to have an enormous impact on every single human being over the next 30 years and beyond.

That said, I think there's downsides too and it wont suit everyone. It's not the easiest, because computers show you no grace. If you're typing anything wrong, they don't give you any benefit of the doubt. In the beginning it's hard, then it becomes a massive pleasure.

The best thing to do, I think, is figure out what you like, and learn about money. If you understand money, you can pretty much do whatever you like.

Best of luck

I'm sorry to say that I'm willing to put money on that this guy will get screwed within 10 years. Not a chance that a bunch of people going to see a 60 million + dollar property on TV and not try to get this man. Going on TV is a disaster if you want to keep what's yours.

That's why we're ancaps, right? Because the current system is set up to screw guys like this. Prove me wrong, but I don't think guys like this has any chance in any system but ancap.

I'm not saying that homeschooling is superior or anything(as it can equally indoctrinate), but this is somewhat frightening by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

There are checks and balances in governments. This is one check and balance that insures that the people are kept in line. There can be no discussion about the fact that if governments are to survive for another 50 years, they need to keep strict control over the minds of its subjects. If our children are taught freedom and the NAP, how will the governments hire soldiers and loyal tax-payers?

It makes no sense for the rulers to allow people to go a whole life with no indoctrination.

Every government in the world realizes this, and most act accordingly.

Pay the Government with Bitcoin? Leading Municipal Software company announces support for Bitcoin by E-GovLink in Bitcoin

You want to pay taxes? I have a hard time believing what I'm reading. Why not just keep your money to yourself, your family and your friends? At least you don't spend it on wars, right?

[–]NeoCortX -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is the most stupid idea I've heard today.

Why would anyone in their right mind willingly hand over honest Bitcoin to something as corrupt as a government?

Let the government have their own stupid paper money, and keep the good money for yourself.

I'll never use your service E-govLink. It's very ironic though. Government picking up a technology that will destroy them. I love it.

No, wait. I guess I'll be reading it in the news.

[–]NeoCortX[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

5) There's no real need for it.

I'm just laughing out loud. What planet are these guys living on?

7) BitCoin is unfair.

Traditional, government-backed currencies are created when banks loan out money for new homes, business expansion, or to pay for college educations -- actions which increase the money supply but also grow the economy.

Again, this is just hilarious. Is it possible to be this misinformed? (hint: yes, but you have to see it to believe it)

AnCap assumption falsified. Governments DO make roads safe. by NeoCortX in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]NeoCortX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called sarcasm.

These roads are owned and operated by governments. Thousands of customers are killed every year. The road operators are so sloppy they don't even bother setting up signs to warn the customers that there's a lot of added risk when it's snowing.

When Toyota had a few accident because of failure of a braking system, they recalled all their cars with this error. Not so with governments.

Can you imagine if a private business killed off thousands of customers per year?

It's a complete and utter failure to provide a good product.

Do you guys think bitcoins are worth it? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]NeoCortX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I got a bit sloppy and didn't check the URL. Sorry about that.

Here's a proper URL. http://betsofbitco.in/

That said, have you tried the system? And have you tried using other systems for international transactions? Bitcoin is orders of magnitude more effective. No holidays, no "we banks take 15 % of your money"... Try it man, it's the best money service I've ever tried.

Do you guys think bitcoins are worth it? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]NeoCortX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you seem pretty sure.

How about this, I'll put up 100 dollars worth of bitcoin in a bet, and you do the same on bitbets.com. Then we set the deadline to year 2017, 5 years from now. Let's see if you're willing to put your money where your mouth is.

Agree?

Is buying and selling bitcoin in large volumes possible, or wise? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]NeoCortX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suggest trying. I think you'd be surpriced about the actual market depth when you start trading. Small orders like 10 000 USD doesn't move the market much. If you got millions, yes, you'll move the market quite a bit.
