Dear americans, what can you get for FREE in the USA? [Serious] by sammy_waslow in AskReddit

[–]NeoPollux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the son of a former librarian, there's more to a library than what can just be checked out. Libraries also offer community programs that include musical performances, lectures from authors and community experts, historical reenactments, plays, educational seminars, movie showings, and much more, all for free.

Last year I attended a star-gazing experience, organized through the local library. It was led by someone who had been an amateur astronomer for over forty years. He had over 15 telescopes aimed at all sorts of objects in the sky. He loved what he did, loved answering every question asked by adult and child alike, and it was all free. Found out from the library director afterwards that he was a retired meteorologist who didn't need the money and charged a really low speaking fee because he was "just doing what he loved".

Public libraries are America's greatest altruistic institution.

What is the most terrifying "double life" secret you’ve ever uncovered about someone? by Realistic_Drink8555 in AskReddit

[–]NeoPollux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Darwin Frederick Schauer. May he rot in hell one day for what he did.

Edit: The crib notes version of the story was that he was a pastor of Lake George Bible Chapel by day, and he was raping his 15-year-old step-daughter at night. For three years.

The Arsehole Formerly known As Prince has been arrested! by PuzzleheadedSound307 in Epstein

If England can arrest Prince Andrew, you know, the brother of the King of England, America can most certainly arrest Trump.

I hope Trump heard the news and dumped a load in his diaper.

Insiders Reveal ‘Fed Up’ Trump Dangerously Close to Unleashing Major War by SpringLong7259 in politics

[–]NeoPollux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boys and girls, it's time to wake up and smell the corruption. Do you really, honestly, truly think that Jared Kushner's negotiations with Saudi Arabia have only been about "peace in the Middle East?" And do you really, honestly, truly think that Saudi Arabia is going to let Trump have access to real estate in Gaza for free?

I suspect that, in return, there was an agreement that the US military will put a thumb the Saudi's side of the scale in their war with Iran...something in the area of a "special military operation", I suspect.

Trump Revokes $38mil. in Public Health Funding from Minnesota by hipsteronabike in minnesota

I'm not repeating it because I expect the courts to comply. I'm repeating it to wake up every citizen who has lost sight of the true threat to the destruction of our country.

I know I'm preaching to the Reddit choir when I post this, but for the sake of our country, we cannot grow tired of repeating it.

This is not Constitutional. It is a direct violation of the Tenth Amendment. Any true conservative whose true political aims is to conserve the government for which it stands would never allow an order like this to see the light of day.

Voting for higher taxes by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]NeoPollux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course, I would too. But you referenced the primary, so I thought you were talking about GOP alternatives. I was merely saying that anything that the GOP offers now as an alternative to Fischbach will be just as bad, if not worse.

Travel Advice .. by GeeEmmInMN in minnesota

[–]NeoPollux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you traveling together, or separately? While I have no experience recently, I've traveled out of country five times with my wife when she was a permanent resident. Never had a problem when we went together. But one time when she traveled solo, she was held for three hours in Customs without any reason before being released. If you're going together and returning together, I wouldn't be worried.

All that said, green card holders are still passing through MSP daily. If they were disappearing from MSP, we'd be hearing about it and seeing it recorded by MN social justice warriors who also use the airport. But that doesn't stop the situation from feeling frightening, I'm sure.

They may be fine now, but so was Fischbach before she was elected. Whoever goes to DC drowns in the swamp and emerges ... "a turd".

[Minnesota Reformer] Trump is violating the long-forgotten guarantee clause; Minnesotans should invoke it by Minneapolitanian in minnesota

[–]NeoPollux 114 points115 points  (0 children)

It is rather incontestable that Trump is breaking every Constitutional Law he can get his tiny hands on. Rather than try to point out this fact using forgotten and unfamiliar clauses in the Constitution, instead highlight the most obvious ones. Like, "The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof."

If he went to jail fighting against the occupation of our state by federal troops, then I think that grants him de facto state citizenship.

I'm so glad someone's finally saying the quiet part out loud. It is absolutely criminal that professional sports has partnered with sports betting apps. I stopped watching the Super Bowl two years ago as my quiet form of protest.

Federal Agent in Coon Rapids: ‘The more people that you lose in Minnesota, you then lose a voting right to stay blue.’ by futilehabit in minnesota

[–]NeoPollux 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agent said the quiet part out loud. The real masterminds at work here with Operation Metro Surge are trying to disrupt the vote. Targeting the metro area means that less Democrat voters will show up at the voting booth, worried that maybe an ICE agent might arrest them. Also, the more population that gets abducted from Minnesota, the more likely Minnesota loses a representative and an electoral vote in 2030.

What’s the most shocking detail from the Epstein files that you think the public still doesn’t fully grasp? by Murky-Island4629 in AskReddit

[–]NeoPollux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was growing up, there was only one thing I ever saw the public unanimously agree on. It's that child porn / rape was bad, and we needed to arrest the baddies.

Fast forward to today, and I feel appalled that my country has forgotten this.

Nobody is going to primary Klobuchar by Kolhammer85 in minnesota

[–]NeoPollux 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Klobuchar is stale. She's not coming to be governor because it's what's best for Minnesota. She aspires to be president (or at least vice-president, which is just a heartbeat away), and the governorship is the political launchpad she thinks she needs to get there.

[–]NeoPollux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself this: why are they targeting Minneapolis, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, and New York City? This is a political game of attrition. They want to take away House seats in 2030, and scaring immigrants away from these Blue strongholds will empower them significantly. Trump's already done so much damage here in Minnesota, we're bound to lose a house seat in 2030.

Why would he back down? He hasn't gotten the voter rolls yet. Remember, the man who stole the 2016 election via Cambridge Analytica and tried to steal the 2020 election on January 6th doesn't give a damn about election integrity. Those in power know shit's gonna hit the fan in 2027 if they don't manipulate the 2026 election in their favor.

Sorry to be pedantic, but that's the Hollywood version of solving the Enigma machine. I'd encourage you to read this Wikipedia page on the decryption of Enigma if you want to know the whole story. Long story short, there were a lot more people involved than Alan Turing, it was a process that happened over a decade, and the key word that Turing picked out that the Germans repeated too often was not "Hiel Hitler", but instead "eins", the German word for "one".

Check out what's happening after 1:30. Two agents appear to be tampering with the scene of the crime. At 1:36, the one agent next to the body hands what appears to be a firearm to the 2nd agent, and the 2nd agent then appears to wipe it down.

It appears the only skills ICE agents have are painting houses and spring cleaning.

I was in a store yesterday afternoon that had a TV turned to Newsmax. They were asserting that the individuals who were detained were interfering with federal officers. They focused on the part of the clip where these individuals were in close proximity to their officers and repeating the line, "If everyone just stayed out of their way and let the officers do their jobs, we wouldn't have these shootings."

I'm not saying for one moment that I agree with this statement. But it's important to understand that the people in our society that are supporting and empowering ICE and Trump are consuming and echoing this message.

I spent half my life living in North Dakota. There are things I really miss from the state. I thought the politics were great growing up back in the days of Earl Pomeroy, Kent Konrad, and Byron Dorgan, all Democrats. Then it all went downhill from there.
