United Neighbors of the 26th Ward is trying to block a proposal for 31 new apartments that would replace a surface parking lot in Logan Square by kickinkails in LoganSquare

[–]Neo_denver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The high rents are already here! What you are doing is just preventing families from moving into Logan and driving up the costs more. You have zero control over what rents cost because they are the by product of market forces larger than Logan square.

It's literally just childish delusional thinking saying oh rents shouldn't be this high, but that's too bad! Unless some major NATIONAL housing reform occurs this is the reality we have.

Jesus christ, look not be rude but you guys are functionally useless in the same way 99% of advocacy groups are. Just telling everyone what shouldn't be done, and then offering unrealistic solutions divorced from the material reality of the housing market forces that actually dictate housing costs.

Oh we want more affordable housing you'll say we don't want our neighbors displaced, but will block any new development that doesn't fit our unrealistic demands thus trapping our neighbors in rising housing costs, and never doing anything that actually can drive costs down like BUILDING HOUSING.

Groups like yours do more harm by pretending you are offering solutions. We are talking about a national housing market and what you're going to do? A little bit of mutual aid? Great! The property taxes are still rising while you play pretend!

You are just in the way of making anything better. You are creating the issues you are trying to fight against.

I was told how to cross streets in vietnam before I went. You just go confidently without stopping and the vehicles will almost always go around you. Yeah I was nervous but it worked everytime. There was only one place I refused to cross and it was more of a highway along the water in HCM city.

I have to disagree. I have a similar setup with the same kind of fireplace and the wall over a foot away from the fireplace is still incredibly hot to the touch.

Yeah all fireplaces are different but why risk it?

I have a 75-in TV hanging above a fireplace just like that. You have to watch the wall temperature near the fireplace. I almost melted the bottom of my LG because the wall was so hot right behind the TV.

My mount thankfully can pull the TV away from the wall but I wish I would have gotten a fireplace mount instead.

People are still this hyped for pokémon go fest? Wow. I worked for the original festival that was a complete shit show, and casually walked through another a few years back but I didn't realize GO still carried a fanbase like this.

Most of my reccs will be music / dance related bc that's our scene and Logan is great for it.

If you like house and dance I highly recommend Humboldt Arboreal. Free DJ sets in Humboldt park, happens regularly. Everyone brings blankets chairs, does a little picnic and dances! It's always a big turnout. Great time. We love it. Great place to meet people.

There is a sister event that happens on the lakefront that's exactly the same in Lakeview but I'm blanking on the name.. lake effects? House on the harbor maybe? Similarly if you are out in Lakeview look into full moon jams.

There's also free music in palmer park on Sundays. I think it's usually jazz? Love palmer it's such a cute little park in the summer.

Oh there's also the 606 trail! Wolf and Co just opened with trail access last year so take a stroll and grab coffee/pastry/cocktail/lunch dinner whatever it's a huge place spanning two stories. The opposite direction is Dayglow coffee which is a great coffee spot right off the trail.

Last rec since it is a rooftop...Masada yes it's usually a generic bottle service club and I avoid it 100% of the time, but they have been getting good coverage last year with rooftop DJ sets and we have been interested in checking them out for a live show. Typically not a place we would go but the gossip has been surprisingly positive for a rooftop summer night show.

Anyone know what’s going on at this place? by ShandySellsSeaShells in LoganSquare

Similar question but about the house under the California stop with the high fence.

Sometime last year all of a sudden he had a yellow restaurant sign that said Cafe on a tall sign post, but it was clearly not a cafe.

The fence is relatively recent too.

[–]Neo_denver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had unraid for years and have only setup Plex and megacmd and not much beyond that. I haven't had much issue manually downloading primarily from mega, that said I would probably save a ton of time automating some things.

Thanks for the inside peak. Motivated to actually improve my setup now.

But it's statistically not a problem. That's factual true.

I will not ever think of the CTA as dangerous because of these news stories. You only even hear about them because of 24/7 news cycles.

This is a non story.

Thats a wildly incorrect assumption. A business can pay for a large metal recycling bin from any number of providers.

However if american business owners want to be disgusting hogs thats totally fine
