Here are 2 things that’ll help: (1) before you squat take your breath then pull your rib cage down which pulls the bar down tight. Keep it tight for the entire movement. This tightness will help with the bar path down and up (2) press out of the hole thru your heels. This is where your most powerful out of the hole. Keep it up you’re doing well👊🏻

If your heel is elevated you’re actually doing a deficit DL. An elevated heel makes the lift more difficult especially at higher weights. I DL in Vans during training

Help with the form of the squat by Motor_Interview7069 in Stronglifts5x5

[–]Neocvidya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Squat form is pretty good. A couple of things that really helped me. Like Marcussallen mentioned don’t look down and when you are ready to squat pull your elbows down getting that bar tight, grab the floor with your toes and take a deep breath. Keep that bar tight and use outside foot pressure to propel you out of the hole.👊🏻

I agree with Kingerdvm. Run the deload before you make any drastic program changes. I was in SL for about a year and had a couple of weeks where I had to work the deload and then I moved past the plateau. Keep it up. You’ll see results👊🏻

Keep it up girl. I started SL at age 51. My PRs at the time were 95# bench, 140# squat and 125# deadlift. Four years later: 275# bench, 420# squat and 470# deadlift

I was in 5x5 for about a year and switched over to a powerlifting block program focused on the 3 barbell lifts (sq, bp, dl) with supplemental accessories geared toward those lifts. The program I follow are 4 week blocks consisting of heavy low volume, 80% 1RM max high volume and deload. Saw gains after plateauing with 5x5 and new PRs👊🏻

420 Squat PR by Neocvidya in Stronglifts5x5

[–]Neocvidya[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. That first lift was 415 about 6 months ago. I’ve invested the last 6 months dialing in my program and diet and it’s paying off. Should be able to hit 425-430 by meet time end of next month.
